  1. I’m 35, and I like all types of music(take a look at all the time and money I’ve wasted over the last 25 years by clicking the link below), and personally, I fuck with NFG and, probably, always will. It’s weird. I can liken it to Blink. I’m from San Diego and one of the first “punk” records I bought in 1995 was Cheshire Cat. From then on, I’ve always loved them, everything they’ve put out. Yeah, fucked, right? NFG, for me, is the epitome of “if it ain’t broke...”. Is that problematic or strange when 40 year old dudes are still making pop punk music 20 years later? I don’t really know, or do I care. They’re doing something they’ve always done, and always done well. For me, “generic pop punk” is all of these bands from the last 10-15 years who start as something, change, go back(or whatever. You know the bands) and never really have or had anything. Nostalgia aside, NFG has been able to be a band that’s able to put out records for 20 years, people are stoked on it, and they still sell out 1k cap rooms, and I really respect and like that. Don’t mind me though, I spent all day drinking, none of this probably made any sense.

  4. Big thanks to everyone who posted this or texted me about it. I’m sure it’ll be a huge press and widely available – as it should be – but either way, you all have my gratitude. Even as someone who’s not OST-crazy, this is still such an essential purchase, and one I never thought I’d own. Seems surreal to grab it at MSRP.

  5. Took me a decade to get here. It’s really so much better and makes it less stressful and the actual fun hobby I signed up for

  6. Yessir! My record collecting focus is starting to shift toward just buying one copy on regular old black vinyl. I get to buy more records, my bank account remains steady, and I'm not stressed about getting an order in for a limited copy. A friend of mine said that because of this new outlook I am achieving vinyl nirvana.

  9. I totally get people not understanding why anyone would be into pop punk or NFG for that matter in 2020. However for me, I grew up in Coral Springs, went to Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS and NFG was our hometown band. I grew up in the 2001 Springs pop punk scene and NFG was kinda always our champion. I still think it’s cool they tag Coral Springs on t-shirts and album covers even though they don’t live there anymore (with exception to Ian maybe). I’ll also echo the “It ain’t Broke Don’t fix it”. I can’t really fuck with new blink or any other 2020 pop punk really, but NFG still puts out records that would have been just as good if released in 2001. Resurrection and this new album are actually two of my more favorite releases they’ve put out over the last 20 years. Every time they’re in town I always go to the shows, get fuckin sweaty and feel like I’m 17 again. Except I’m a drunk 34 year old guy. Idk, who cares. I think it’s great, this world has enough negativity and this is one of those things that is really positive.

  11. While I do get that settling for black vinyl is mighty convenient, I’m not entirely sure that it’s truly cheaper in the grand scheme of things. I guess a lot of it depends on the genres and artists you’re interested in, but the pursuit of limited variants, early bird pre-orders, etc. has resulted in a collection that’s easily worth triple or quadruple the amount of money I’ve put into it. I’m not advocating a flipper lifestyle, but more than ever there are months where 80-100% of the items I pre-order or track down are funded by profitable sales of older shit I don’t listen to. And this isn’t even touching on gimmicky videogame OST bootlegs or super limited vaporwave releases. I’m sure I’d be sitting pretty if I had interest in those and monitored the value of them over the years. But even then, it feels like the hobby funds itself at this point, more or less. Which wouldn’t be possible for settling for whatever Amazon stocks, 99% of the time. Honestly, a good middle-ground is probably just sticking to indie exclusives and ordering from Bull Moose whenever possible. Often the cheapest route, and you still wind up with something cooler than the standard press, if you’re into that kind of thing.

  13. Yeah I kinda expect the cheesy lyrics at this point. I mean it’s pop punk, what do you really expect. They’re 40. Just have fun with it

  14. You are on the right path, my son. You have taken the first step toward the darkness of black vinyl. Luckily, I don't have to camp for RSD. I have a little store in town that gets everything, and I only have to show up around an hour before opening and I'm within the first 10 in line. It's pretty great.

  15. You will see the black for less than that one day! 😄 I found so many classic black albums I did not want to pay retail for from Amazon, and their various other outlets. (Deep Discount, Import CDs on E-bay, etc.)

  18. I had a LOT of issues trying to get some LPs and sleeves from HHV, as Bank of America was CONSTANTLY blocking the charges, even though I was calling them and saying it was Okay. I had to buy it through PayPal, which ended up costing a bit more money, but oh well.. I got the HHV stuff finally that way. I probably should have used PayPal here, but I received nothing from my bank that anything was declined yet, and my bank seems fine with my UK record stores.

    .

you're not missing out. They're just trying to brand mixed vinyl as something good for the environment when it's actually just the cheapest method to press records. It's pretty nasty tbh they need to examine their morals again.

  22. I thought some the singles were good, I made it 5-7 songs in and had to turn it off. I liked the use of hardcore breakdowns, but those lyrics were just too cringy

  25. Summarizes me and my love of the band, as well. I will add I generally have to defend my ongoing love of pop-punk and bands like NFG to basically everyone around me. And now I gotta add @dantheriver to that list. THANKS DAN.

  26. No nerves struck here man. You do you. If you find pleasure in buying records you hate just to flip, posting nonsense 5 pages deep on a thread about it, and talking shit on everyone else who’s here to enjoy and discuss the album, that’s all you. Go get em tiger!

  32. yeah. it sucks. Mail volume is actually increasing but funding and staffing is decreasing. I imagine, in most post offices and sorting facilities, express gets sorted before priority, priority before first class, media mail absolute last. So that's why Media Mail is sitting without scans for days at a time. On top of that, volume is so high and staff is so low, that mistakes are more frequent. All it takes is a package going into the wrong bin. I highly recommend, if you're buying something that is high value or really important to you, try to upgrade to Priority. Especially because it includes $50 of insurance. It's also super annoying from a seller standpoint, because although I let all of my buyers know that Media Mail is significantly delayed, I've had a few buyers freak out when their package is scanned twice and then no scans for two weeks. As if I drove to Michigan, retrieved the package and kept it or something. After selling on discogs for the better part of a decade, I've received less than positive feedback for the first time, twice, in the last two months. Both buyers received their records without damage within a month with $4 media mail shipping, but they left negative feedback because it "never took that long before".
