  1. The Blue "Galaxy" variant was intended for our touring around our 20th anniversary, and we haven't decided how it will be released yet as clearly with covid and chris's accident we wont be playing anymore shows this year. We'll post as soon as any decisions are made on it!

  11. The cream never made it up on the main page. Some people played with the URL and found/posted direct links to the cream and also to what appeared to be a cassette and several bundles with no descriptions. Then all those product pages were killed. So it's assumed that they didn't sell out but rather weren't ready to go public yet. Although you could order from the direct links for maybe an hour or two so no one can be sure if anything did sell out or if they will even honor the orders that were placed during that time.

  32. Very intrigued by this. Doubt I'll pick it up as I too belong to the this album is kinda wack crowd, but I am extremely curious about the re-record. I think there are some really great nuggets happening on this record, but they're dropped between some just really unappealing stuff. I doubt they'll be too revisionist, but this could possibly end up making it a more consistent album. If nothing else, I've always hated how the vocals were mixed, so maybe it'll fix that.

  33. Same variant, at least going off the mockup. I strongly resonate with that Isis / Sumac kick, by the way. Been feeling that on a personal level for the last 3 years or so and wondering when (or if) it’ll wear off. I’m sure I’ve voiced this in another thread, but Sumac are especially fun because even after all this time I still find myself buckling up for each new record they put out. They’re awesome on first listen, don’t get me wrong, but they’re just so dense and cavernous... I feel like it takes me more time and effort to unpack their records than any other band these days. That’s not a complaint by any means. If anything it lends itself to crazy amounts of replay value. Once things begin to click into place and those curveball grooves and breakdowns become second-nature, and you become acquainted with the explosive payoffs at the end of those abstract noise sections... wew lad. Nothing quite like it. I’m never fully enamored with a new Sumac record despite fully “getting” the one before it, so at this point I’ve just accepted we’re in great hands and have every reason to be hyped.

  35. Yeah... I mean, I’m sure it goes both ways with exceptions, but on average I find that my Euro imports are much nicer than stateside presses. Both in vinyl quality and packaging.

  36. I asked a couple friends who are big Emery fans about their thoughts on a re-recorded version of this album and they both said they loved the album but the guitar tones on the original version were terrible, and we're looking forward to hearing an updated version with better tones.

  37. This album aged well for me. Didn't really enjoy it much when it first came out. It had a few decent songs but nothing that really pulled me in. Through the years though I've found myself coming back to it a lot. Espcecially here lately. I'll give props to Emery for doing something different at the time though. After the huge success that was The Question I think fans were looking forward to something that built upon that album and that is def not what Emery did. They kind of went the opposite way. It's always a toss up for bands following a record like that. They succeeded where alot of bands fail in that "sophomore slump" and made an album that was incredible. The Question is still one of my favorite albums but I'm Only A Man was a pretty big flop at the time and the band themselves will even tell you that. The stories behind the making of the album are pretty hilarious. Especially from Toby's point of view. Apparently they missed out on a huge contract too. The musical aspect of this album is awesome. They were doing some really interesting stuff. It's also a bit "theatrical" to me and that's probably why I didn't enjoy it as much back then. Very story driven and dramatic in a way. I'll 100% pick up a copy of this. Only thing I'm worried about is the re-recording aspect. Hopefully they keep that same energy and it stays at the same level of production. It could potentially change the album a bit.

  43. Things have been going really well for me lately and with my last few years' track record, that's kinda unprecedented. I think transitioning has been massively positive for my mental health and had a sort of cascading influence on other facets of my life. I saved four months of rent when covid cut my lease short and the semester went online (moved back in with my dad until next semester), and my new landlord said she won't start charging me for rent/deposit unless my university confirms they're going to be open in the fall. With the money I saved, I finally decided to upgrade my TT and cart after five goddamn years. Those should be arriving next week, and I'm incredibly excited. Hope everyone else can report similar prosperity!
