Bought the Speak The Truth “...even if your voice shakes” 7”. The release on the jacket is written “even if it kills me” lol. Love motion city soundtrack anyways, and it gave me a good laugh. And the custom jackets for all the test presses are awesome. Nothing but love for Bad Timing Records.

I've always been on the fence about this label. I'd heard some stories, but not like what is coming out. I know some people will barf out "cancel culture" bullshit, but I am glad people are standing up to abusers of any kind. I feel like I'm hearing a new story almost every day about someone being a complete piece of shit. No one is a saint, but every story I've read sounds justified.

Just got mine in the mail. It's funny how this sold out in hours and people are paying stupid amounts for it on ebay. Yet his newest album sat for a while at 1k and he still is selling VMP copies on his site which were limited to only 500. He REALLY needs to press/repress the first few mixtapes. His early work is so good and obviously still in demand.

Ask for a repress of cocktails and dream with a bonus record of the chinkees tracks.

Keep in mind Tooth & Nail has to license all of their back catalog from Capitol. It's likely close to an additional $10/unit extra.

Guess I lucked out, mine looks and sounds great (not always the case from KRM). And I like this album a lot! There are new little details I’m digging with every new listen. Fuck it, let’s rank them: Greatest Story Calcutta Apathy Skeleton Metropole Ghost Stories Guided Tour And I know it doesn’t count, but Cocktails & Dreams would probably be my favorite.

I may be more curious than frustrated. I’d love it if there was an article or blog that broke down the economics of vinyl, production costs & retail prices, over the last few months. Anecdotally, it feels like there has been a significant bump in prices, larger than I can remember over the last 6-7 years. I’ve seen more pre-orders go for $30+ and also more pre-orders that stagger prices to match the exclusivity of the variant. It feels like a combination of production costs going up and artists/labels being more savvy about acknowledging and combating the secondary market. But I obviously don’t know and there may not be an actual trend. I’m also curious what happens if the USPS shuts down or gets privatized. I had a label owner tell me that if the USPS gets privatized and media mail goes away, indie labels are done. I don’t know if most musicians and label owners are prescient enough to bump their prices in anticipation of a huge roadblock like that happening. But these are the thoughts that swirl in my head when I see a $40 Juliana Theory and post a dumb comment about the price.

I'm with you on this. I like the album but it sounds like a bunch of Metropole b-sides that weren't good enough for Metropole. It feels less like an album and more like just a collection of songs.

I can't speak on Doyle (who I've heard is a nice guy) but, I've crossed paths with Jerry a few times in a few different situations. he's always been a solid guy. seems like he has a heart of gold. multiple times I've seen him stand there and sign every autograph before he takes off. when I was managing a venue, the Misfits played, a promoter we didn't usually work with booked the show and skipped out on paying them - instead of taking it out on me, he was super-chill and said "well, this is why I pay a lawyer... thanks for the hospitality." Reader's Digest version of said path crossing, but I appreciated how he's always been super nice.

Many many many years ago, I snagged a test of Billy Bragg - A New England 7" for $0.99 on ebay.

I won a Texas Is The Reason S/T 7" test press last week. So that probably is the best deal I've ever gotten as of late. Other than that, maybe coming across Caspian test presses, and winning one way back when. None of the rare ones I bought were cheap per say, but I was insanely lucky to be the one who ended up getting them, such as from people who worked on the pressing / album who agreed to sell it to me.
