  1. Seems like you like to whine a lot. Back on topic.

  2. Still postponing my listen of the first single, but Hail Taxi is exactly what I’d hope METZ would sound like in 2020.

  3. “There are problems in the world but instead of discussing them or shining a light on what causes them, everyone should just shut up and accept that life doesn’t always pan out.” Sound logic and a pertinent bump to the thread. You must’ve been relentless in debate class. [edit] Didn’t Juan basically wrap this whole tangent up with “flippers gonna’ flip?” and ask everyone to stay on topic? Why are you bringing this up after 4 days? To me, it suggests you seldom check VC – which is fine, and a lot healthier than the amount of time I frequent the boards myself – which also implies you probably miss out on a fair bit of limited releases. If that’s the norm for you, and you’re used to just bending over for inflated aftermarket prices, that’s your own problem. I don’t accept that as the way the world turns. I’ve set early alarms and taken late breaks just to secure a pre-order or limited variant, and been stoked as fuck about it. I doubt I’m alone. I have a spine on this topic because I’m not one to roll over and shrug after Mondo bots end a drop in 50 seconds and half of the stock is on eBay an hour later. If that’s you, that’s fine. I’m not looking to change how you feel about FOMO, limited releases, or flippers. But dismissing someone’s passion or argument with “oh well, that’s the way the cookie crumbles. Deal with it” is super weak.

  4. Yeah, I feel terrible. How am I ever going to sleep at night. Grow up kid, the world isn't always fair. Get over it already.

  5. Minus the kids, I agree with everything here! Hot Car in the Sun felt like the most classic Bright Eyes to me and along with Stairwell Song it stood out on the first listen. Someone else up there mentioned that the first half of the album is especially slow, and I would also agree. The album takes a while to pick up, and I think it does once Tilt-a-Whirl starts.

  6. This is from an older sale on popsike: Between the red and white vinyl pressings, Glenn did not have the stampers cleaned, causing 16 of the 1000 colored vinyl copies to turn out pink. Glenn has explained that there were 3 variants that qualified as pink: very light pink vinyl with pink blotches and red streaks, pale pink vinyl, and a darker "bubblegum" pink color. https://www.popsike.com/THE-MISFITS-Legacy-of-brutality-PINK-Vinyl-LP-HC-Punk-DANZIG/261570895754.html

  8. Been eying this thread just for the fun of it. What a rollercoaster it’s been. I hope I’m never stuck ordering from Sandbag. Random observations; – The accidental BTS 7”s are fucking hilarious. – “Dogs” appearing twice in a row on that slipmat seems redundant. If it’s going in a loop – or a cycle on the turntable, if you will – “dogs eating dogs eating dogs eating dogs...” makes way more sense to me. But, whatever. – That Quarantine song... holy shit. I figure this thread has to contain some pretty loyal Blink-182 fans to be interested in this release, so to read most of you say that the lyrics are especially cringe – which, let’s face it: Blink-182’s “peak” lyrics aren’t exactly revolutionary – I had to hear them for myself. You weren’t kidding. It sounds like a discount Offspring track to begin with, but I cannot believe how bad they are. Not even in a “this is topical now but probably won’t be down the road” kind of way. Just straight bad.

  10. That song was really good, and Hot Car In the Sun really stood out on first listen. PNG and Mariana Trench are both growing on me more too. I gotta spend some more time with it. Kids make everything more difficult.

  11. I think my ideal combo would have been Teal A/B and Orange C/D. Haven't had a chance to listen yet. Hopefully tonight once I get home from work.

  12. Yeah, great example. I have a lot of friends who were shitting bricks over any of the Parallax albums being released... but they – and everything after – just struck me as a little too theatrical. Proggy space opera metal. Just not my bag though I can see the appeal for some folks. Ironically enough I had just listened to Colors yesterday morning for the first time in a bit, and I think it still holds up so well. Moments of it are definitely a little “grandiose” but all in all I just enjoy that aesthetic (or lack of such a deliberate one) way more. I think TGM is the last BTBAM release I can still enjoy. That’s definitely fair. On all accounts. Good Apollo ramped up their production and cinematic elements. I was obsessed with it at the time of release but I wouldn’t say every element still resonates with me. I spent a lot of time with albums that followed it, and there are certainly some good cuts, like you said. Even in the latest albums I think there are some really solid ear-worms, like you said. Except that Color Before the Sun album. I listened to that one out of pure curiosity and with a fairly open mind, and thought it was completely forgettable drivel with zero redeemable tracks or moments that made my ears perk up. (Which are sprinkled generously throughout those Afterman albums. I’ll revisit one or both of those every once in a great while to get my Coheed pop fix.)

  13. I think this is because they aren't selling any stock through their own warehouse. If you look at who the seller is it appears to be through HMV. They should have listings up soon and you should be able to buy through them directly. I'd be surprised if they don't ship internationally since I received an order from them not two weeks ago. Amazon JP listings are up but not available for pre-order yet. Keep your eyes peeled: @euphoria Spirited Away Spirited Away (Image Album) Howl's Moving Castle Howl's Moving Castle (Image Album)

  15. Oh yeah, love they do Qrates releases and some of the other great ways they give back to fans. I believe they were the first unsigned artist to ever sell out Madison Square Garden....so they must be doing something right. Ha, if you think I havent heard of the music I buy... I guess there is no convincing you. But just for fun lets spout out a random list: before my daughter was born I went to 50+ concerts a year including festivals and SXSW, I have in the past ran a less than popular music blog that I even released a special release record on, I have helped make the cover art for a record, and since you were replying to Velocity of Sound....I have bought just about every record his label has ever released and that shit is for sure more obscure than than the Cardi B records Im currently flipping. But shrug emoji, haters gonna hate.

  16. Of course I have, I think most people have resold something at a value that’s been established over time. That’s never been an argument. You buy a record because you enjoy the artist or the release. A year later, maybe 2 or 3, you’re making space on the shelf and you realize that $80 is the median price that record now goes for. You’re not a monster for trying to sell it around that value even if you paid $25 PPD for it back in 2017. But that’s not the reality for stl_ben, RareLimiteds, and a dozen other scuzzy flippers who deliberately lurk VC and Reddit to hop on “hyped” releases for an immediate resale. Ben and the gang probably haven’t heard of 70% of the shit they peddle. They’re going purely off comments (interest), label value, artist history sales, etc. It’s pathetic. I’ve missed out on releases I would’ve genuinely loved to own and hold onto — because I was in a conference at work or had some real world responsibilities to attend to — and found them for sale on Discogs just 3-4 days later, for quadruple the sale price. That sucks. Those people suck. I think it’s fair to voice that. Saying “oh well you all have the same opportunity, no sense in complaining” is garbage. Having some greasy haired couch goblin call me out as not being an adult for “minding my own business”, because I’m venting about instances where I miss out on cool shit because of adult obligations... well, that’s garbage too. It’s a shitty practice and if you’re cool with it or keen on turning a blind eye, that’s fine. But don’t come at me just because I’m not.

  17. What’s the deal with you constantly spreading bad vibes? Seriously, go take on Ticketmaster or something. Don’t act like you’ve never bought low and sold high.
