  1. If you’re buying vinyl just because it’s an investment you’re trying to flip later, try bit coin instead.

  2. Real quick, guys... as fun as it is to circle-jerk and shit on an easy target, I'd like to go on record as saying NoWorthyIcons is a good dude, and hardly a "Karen" with vinyl. I've known him for years – as an online acquaintance, anyway – and homie hasn't flipped a single record in his life. Not even sure if he's sold one, to be honest with you. Just this year he's started to really get back into the world of vinyl and collecting newer releases he's slept on – he's been out of the loop for a little bit. I don't want to speak entirely on his behalf, but before 2020 I don't think he was in a position where he was ordering new releases or being subjected to the classic "mockup vs. end product" dilemma we're all used to. But I can confirm he bought two copies of Lament, tops. A splatter variant he's just "okay" with - but is considering selling? - and this Revolver color-way. I can also confirm he's just as nerdy and particular as most of us are about the way our vinyl turns out. Pretty understandable when you're passionate about the music on the record and settling for one copy. Lord knows I do the same. I have 100% sold off a pre-order because I was disappointed with the way it turned out, just to fund a different variant that suits my preferences better. Yeah, it all sounds the same at the end of the day. (More or less, anyway.) There's nothing wrong with caring about the way your collection looks, though. Vinyl itself is a pretty tangible medium; it's really the only excusable format to care that much about. I ended up grabbing a deluxe copy of Lament a week or two after I placed my Revolver order. I only need 1 copy, truly, but I kept the Revolver order because I figured the merge could end up making for a really cool variant. If I didn't have the deluxe, I would actually sell off my sealed Revolver (at cost) and buy an electric blue or that Euro splatter. Both variants are more appealing to me despite sounding identical. And at the end of the day, as someone who doesn't own 6+ copies of this thing, I want to be jazzed when I go to listen to the 1 copy on my shelf. There's no crime in that. I enjoy tracking down cool variants for just about every album I'm fond enough to buy; there is very little black vinyl or "bleh" variants on my shelf, proportionate to appealing variants I own. That's been my MO for a decade now and I have no regrets. Not gonna' knock anyone who feels similarly. And finally, I highly doubt NoWorthyIcons would actually e-mail a label or distro to complain about a variant or demand a discount in the process. Not gonna' speak for him, or anything like that... but those who ordered the Revolver variant paid extra (it was like ~$30 shipped, wasn't it?), waited longer to receive it, and ended up with something way different than described. Which, yeah, it happens. If you've been buying pre-orders for years, you're used to it and may shrug it off. If you're newer to that disappointment, then maybe it leaves you pretty salty. I'm somewhere in the middle – not surprised, but still annoyed. Not furious or anything but strongly considering selling it, in all honesty. Call it petty or whatever you want. It is what it is. I just think it's unfair to accuse someone – who has been a positive influence to many threads and discussions on VC – as some kind of uptight, "vinyl portfolio" Karen when it's not the case. My wordy 2¢. Appreciate anyone who took the time to read it.

  3. Or you could just listen to it. even though you don’t like the way the variant turned out, something tells me the music on it is the same If your issue is you now own like 6 copies of the same record, that’s your own fault

  7. The good news from this is that any flippers who are not aware of how bad this is will probably have to sit on these for a long time before finally selling them at-cost, potentially not even profiting off them. That's always a pleasant thought.

  8. Not even free shipping. Fuck that noise. 7 inches already suck so if the trend is to continue hiking the price it will continue to make it very easy to pass. This one was even easier to pass bc these covers are pretty wack.

  18. Depends on how much you value the Black Stallion LP, tbh. I've seen the 2010 White Pony represses going for $40 on Discogs. If you're not really a "remix" guy, don't think spending those twenty extra clams is worth it.

  21. How easy would it have been to release White Pony & Black Stallion on white and black vinyl? Like, I don't know if that would have influenced my decision enough to spend one hundred and fifty fuckin' smackers, but c'mon, this was not thought out well at all.

  31. I have a feeling all of the Amazon orders are going to be standard black. Trying to find a clear here in the states. Rarewaves had a bunch listed on the bay, but they messaged me back and said they weren’t clear (and still haven’t updated the description)

  39. Came to post that as well. Hilarious. We all finally thought a very fitting variant existed and then it turns out to be a dud. Maybe that guy just got a really bad one. Cue up the infinity stones guy mock-up. You think Jeremy knows about that bit hence using an avenger as his reaction?!

  42. Finished Bly Manor last night and think it was mostly a dud. The 8th episode was fantastic though and is probably the only one that matched Hill House's quality. As a few people have mentioned, it would've been better if it was 5-6 episodes. I don't think the uncle's episode was needed at all and the valet's story was kind of a bore too. Focusing solely on the main four and the two kids would've helped a lot. The biggest issue for me is that I didn't really care what happened to anyone. Think this type of story only works if you're invested in the characters and here I just wasn't.

  43. The year was 2014. I had just gotten into vinyl records after dusting off my father's old Sony Turntable and starting to spin his 100 or so old records from the 70s and 80s. I had taken two or three trips to my local record store buying 20 or so dollar bin records at a time based mostly on the look of the covers. About two moths in I typed in "records" on craigslist on a whim; I ended up stumbling on a local ad for "1600+ Records" with an asking price of 220$. The picture on the listing was of a shipping pallet completely loaded with 16 or so banker boxes full of albums. My whole body started shaking at the very thought of this many records all for sale at once; the only problem was I only had 40$ to my name. So..... casting aside all humility I sent out an email to the seller reading something along the lines of " Hey, I think your collection is awesome and honestly your asking price is way more than fair, however I am a broke high school student so I can only offer you 40$. I know this is a very low offer but it is all I have to offer. I hope you find someone to pay your asking price but if nobody else ends up wanting them let me know. Thank you for your time." I expected to never hear back from him until three weeks later on an otherwise uninteresting Wednesday when he sent me an email saying " I have been storing the records in my bosses' warehouse (some kind of lumber business I think) and he says I have until the end of the day to get them out or they are going in the dumpster so ill accept your 40$ offer". Extremely exited I drove out with my Dad the second school ended that day to pick up the records. When i got there I soon realized what was listed as 1600+ records was in fact about 2,000 records. It took only 10ish minutes to load them into the family van which was subsequently riding down on the shocks on the way home with no visibility through the rear view mirror. I conned a friend of mine into helping me haul them all upstairs to my room later that day. I had absolutely no floor space in my room for about three weeks until I finally talked my Dad into buying me an Ikea kallax 4 by 4 cube shelf and another 2 by 4 cube shelf to stack on top of that. The records filled the 4 by 4 completely and took up about half the 2 by 4. To be fair a lot of what I ended up with in the collection was classical, jazz, mainstream 60s pop and that kind of stuff but there were a lot of cool finds mixed in too and at 2 cents a record I wasn't about to complain. Sadly today I live in a small apartment and most of my records are currently in my parents storage unit as they have since sold the house (honestly really nice of them to let me take up like 1/5 of their unit which they pay for so I am not complaining). While I did bring most of my favorites with me when I moved out I cant wait until the day I move into a house and can pull the rest of my collection out of storage. Sorry this story was so long and thanks for reading.
