This exactly. I still want it. But that price point is absurd. 2 song black 7" without a jacket came out to over $16 shipped. I jumped on it, because it's limited to /1000 (low for AFI) so I figured it was now or never. It's only going up in price on the second hand market if I don't swallow the $16 and jump on it now. Now they take that "limitedness" away. Let's say there's 5k or 10k. These will end up on the second hand market for peanuts in a couple of years. And might end up going out to distributors so local shops can order them. Can get that same 7" for half the price now. It's just shady business practice to get people to jump on a preoder. Then second guess your pressing numbers and raise them, after 1000 customers already committed to what was supposed to be a "limited record". It's not that we don't want it. It's just an asshole move. Which a lot of us have come to expect out of labels like Rise.3 points

PO Now: AFI - Twisted Tongues/Escape From Los Angeles 7"
dnl and 2 others reacted to unknown pleasures for a topic
This is an age-old argument on here and at the end of the day it's a fact that many vinyl collectors consider whether something is limited or not as a key factor, as much as the artwork or the music itself. I have no problem with that. At a minimum, there's a lot of people who jump on preorders they otherwise wouldn't because they're announced as "limited" and don't want to miss out. If it was clear the product wasn't limited, they might take their time ordering it, wait for it to pop up from another retailer or see if it gets any cheaper over time. Again, I have no problem with this logic.3 points -

I agree with you that the shady business practices is annoying. Especially the purenoise model of keeping rare variants aside and then selling them later with a shitty screened cover. Just dumb. But for me, ultimately, when a record I want is released I buy it. If there is a limited variant I will try and get that, if not I'll get whatever is available. I don't want to wait a couple years and buy it for half the price. I want it now. Not intending to knock other people's spending habits or opinion, just sharing mine.1 point

There's no Cajun 45 thread. An ode to Port Barre, LA, this tune mixes a bit of Cajun, zydeco, swamp pop, and garage to coalesce into a pretty original little tune. It's pretty fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKFm3haUt681 point -

I am playing the new Hyrule Warriors game on my Switch right now, but I am also playing Pikmin 3 Deluxe with my gf atm. Can't wait for Super Mario 3D World next month. I honestly haven't touch my PS5 since Christmas for some reason...need some new exclusives like the upcoming Ratchet & Clank for example.1 point -

The price jump actually makes sense this time around. For the season one “special edition”, they were charging $50 more just for a variant and different packaging. This time, yeah you get a variant and different packaging, but you also get 2 whole extras discs worth of music.1 point -

PO: Tomahawk Tonic Mobility
faaip de oiad reacted to mcpherson123 for a topic
Oddfellows was in print and dirt cheap for a significant time after it's release but a couple years ago I began to notice it was starting to be listed for insane prices all over discogs and eBay. I dig the new track ok. Feels different in ways and familiar in other ways. The basic sound of the band is there but Mike's voice definitely has had a significant evolution in the last few years. I'm not sure I love the way he uses it anymore. I really like his more obnoxious and nasal aggressive attack and lately he sounds Ike he's doing aggressive with more boasting bassy tones. I miss the vocal overdrive a bit too. So I'm looking forward to the rest but I need to realize this not going to be the same Tomahawk from 20 years ago. I can't believe its been that long.1 point -

Today is that day! Stick a nail in the coffin of the SRC pressing. Apparently, the band has acquired the rights to repress their first two records. If SRC already has your money, you've been screwed. We are getting a legitimate official release ... https://www.facebook.com/humbandofficial/posts/2501975331320271 point -

This is not a reimagined album. This is a repress of Ocean Avenue in all its glory. The records are finished and on a boat to the states. Once they arrive we’ll get our promo photos up and announce the album properly and go on sale shortly thereafter (probably a week from the official announcement).1 point -

Post a PIC Of Your Collection (Band or Label ONLY)
texan4life reacted to SeeMoreGlass for a topic
Here is an update on my The Wonder Years collection. I've been collecting their stuff since I first heard the band in 2010 and The Upsides helped me make some serious life decisions. I justify this because I love supporting the band that helped me change my life for the better. Some of these have been pretty tricky to find and I still have a few more to go but I got some free time and figured I would do it anyway. I don't collect Test Presses only because they are way too expensive and I could never get my hands on one let alone all of them. Also, for the record releases, I count it as one variant so I don't have multiples for The Greatest Generation or The Upsides. I have gotten a TON of help from people on VC, Dead Format and Discogs so huge thanks to the vinyl community. Hope you guys dig it. The Upsides Suburbia: I've Given You All And Now I'm Nothing The Greatest Generation No Closer To Heaven Sister Cities Glamour Kills Comp/Sleeping On Trash/Burst And Decay/Others 7"s CD's and Extras As far as I know, I am only missing these from The Wonder Years The Wonder Years - Sister Cities - Shinjuku Street Splatter And these from Aaron West And The Roaring Twenties Aaron West And The Roaring Twenties - We Don't Have Each Other - Blue/White Swirl Aaron West And The Roaring Twenties - Routine Maintenance - Blue/White Swirl Tour Variant (Sold out the day before my tour date : ( Hit me up if you think I am missing anything or if you have any of these you want to sell...1 point -
