I have the original press, and definitely wish they just did a standard pressing you could actually play normally. And the giving a fuck aspect of things, I actually had (and I guess still have) tickets to see them again pre pandemic.

Circling back to my stance from the last time this was reissued, after trying and failing to A/B a meaningful difference between the different versions, which I stand by: This is not one of those albums where the timbre of every drum hit is carved into my brain though, more like I listen to it every 18 months or so and am just kinda like "music... very cool". I understand how you might feel differently if this album meant a lot to you. Still a huge nerd though

This is where I stand. I've never understood those who say that the album is somehow fundamentally different because of a few seconds of missing samples. Agreed that if you already have it and don't feel like dropping another $80, I get it. That being said, I'm still going to cross my fingers that a few of the samples are restored. But like you said, who knows if the band even knows what we're talking about anymore. Ha.

Hmmmm short of a Clear Pink / Clear Teal merge that somehow came out amazing I can't imagine better variants. Clear Pink for the warm melting ice sensation Clear Teal for the cool chill feeling of melting ice Clear Grey merge for that "black ice" feeling Wouldn't go gold or purple, but that's just me.

Also, I’m really amused at how big of a dealbreaker that seems to be for so many people. I’m not trying to sway anyone into buying this thing one way or another – especially if you own a copy of the album already, and doubly so if you don’t give a shit about the remixes – but the posts deeming the album “unlistenable” are a little dramatic. The hangup is with how different the re-recorded voices sound to the original, obviously. It rubs longtime fans (or people who’ve binged the single) the wrong way – their ear picks up on what “doesn’t sound right”, like they’ve come to expect. But man, the essence of the song is surely still there. The essence of the album is still very much intact if you ask me. FP, as a song, is a grab-bag of samples arranged in a very groovy, zany manner; if you sent someone into the new mix, who had never heard SILY before, I don’t think they’d physically wince like so many longtime fans do when they hear that new mix. No one is in the wrong for wanting to save $80 instead of repurchasing a mix they’re not crazy about. But the folks - no one here on VC - commenting that the album is virtually unlistenable... I just gotta’ wonder how much of SILY they’re actually listening to.

I think the problem is that the band doesn’t even know what the “original mix” is. Everyone is grilling them whether or not the OG samples are included and they’re just shrugging and Liking those questions on social media because shit’s confusing, and there’s like 4-5 mixes at this point. Even still, most people are primarily curious about the samples of Frontier Psychiatrist, and it’d be easy for them to just answer “yes” or “no” to the multiple people asking if this reissue contains the new / re-recorded samples. But I can’t imagine they’d weight in if it impacts record sales, right? For that reason, yeah – not exactly holding my breath for an “OG” mix.

I received my copy from MD today. No issues with the mailer. The jacket is all good. The discs rings were in their slots correctly too. Considering myself lucky. If a ring displaced it could cause issues quick because of no inner sleeves, just small slots for each disc inside the gatefold. I gave it a spin too. There's no way to tell what is side A/B on the discs, so after I set them on the table I dropped the needle on each disc ring to confirm all were side A first. Only had to flip over the outer ring. Only sound quality issues to note is track 5 (middle disc, side B ) had popping/crackling throughout. Hopefully it's just a quality control issue and isn't common for other copies. Also, track 3 (inner disc, side A) ends with over a minute of silence before hitting the runout groove. Not sure what the point of that was. Overall, cool novelty record to own but super inconvenient to listen to haha.

Listened to the Talk Is Jericho podcast with Andy on it. Will have to say I'm not into professional wrestling in the least bit even knowing Andy from ETID, but was great discussion they had. As well as some peeling back of the curtain behind Andy's decision to recently become a wrestler (which had always baffled me). Anyways, an extra album related tidbit is he confirmed it is a double album with 18 songs...18....1....8.... 😦

Mighty mailers are becoming the norm and with the price of records these days, no one should be using anything else. With the price they're charging for vinyl and shipping, if they're cutting costs on mailers they deserve some backlash imo.

Is it just me or did the tATu record get pulled from the RSD US list? I recall seeing it on that list.

Just got my copy in CA, couldn't be more disappointed. Flimsy mailer with no reinforcement ended up getting crushed; cover has a 1" gash and creases all over; inner rings ripped through their slots so the gatefold is torn up. And of course each disc is scratched to hell - I can't even put it away without the 7" sliding all the way out. For anyone who wants to see the carnage. At least the CD was wrapped in bubble wrap 🙄 Emailing MerchDirect about my options. Maybe I'll get a replacement cover?
