My intro to HxC was when I lived in Louisville, KY back in '88 or so. So I got into the midwest style of HxC. I honestly never cared much for the NYHC...especially the more "thugish" and DMS bands like Madball and whatnot. It's like...we get it...you're all reppin' NYC and the birthplace of NYHC. It's tired and silly to me. But whatever. If people were that hard-up and starving for shows and felt like taking the risk at the show...by all means. It's your right and do whatever you want. But don't come at me calling me a "pussy" and whatnot b/c I'd rather err on the side of safety and well-being. I haven't watched the video or at least the parts with JJ and Springa and whatever they may have said. All I know is that I had a semblance of respect for JJ and his discipline and being hardline for taking care of himself...but when he started railing against the science and being an anti-vaxxer and diminishing the reality of COVID and the pandemic...that was it for me. I was out. To each their own I guess...but the hardcore scene has become a caricature of itself for a long while now.

JoeHardcore has said in the past that the Ghost Ship Fire (that killed 36 people) was "a blessing in disguise" so my opinions of him are already pretty low.

Not a Madball fan since the people I grew up around that are really into them I don't care about anymore. Not surprised at a few things. - Not surprised that a lot of people went since people here are starving for shows. We're really spoiled in NYC with shows, and people have had a hard time living without shows. - Not surprised at the lack of masks. It's been politicized and its no different here. - Not surprised that people treated it like a normal show and didn't social distance. The shows that most of people are used to on this board aren't conducive to social distancing. - Not surprised at the cop worship and a dude that showed up with a "Black Flag Matters" shirt. A bunch of hardcore dudes I know are relatively right wing for various reasons, and the situation here in NYC has hardened some right wing tendencies. My opinion of policing and city politics aside, this take is objective. So I'm disappointed, but not surprised.

So, I did a google search as well as Discogs and couldn't really find any "good" info. What's the deal with the first pressing of that record?

I live in Canada but I came down to the states to stay with family and get vaccinated while working remotely. I've been ordering so many records since I'm down here for a month and Canadian shipping is so expensive. I got drunk the another night and ordered this assuming they were already shipping. I'll be long gone by the time this ships LOLLL fuck me

It’s not that strange people are complaining, right? The preorder implied these would be the complete studio recordings (turned out that wasn’t the case) on 180 gram vinyl (which apparently isn’t the case). When you charge upwards of 400 + shipping for what’s basically six albums and some extras it’s not that weird that people expect to receive a product as advertised. Especially since we all know the whole 180 grams thing is usually an excuse for companies to actually charge more for a record in the first place. Meanwhile, what really bothers me is that I preordered this thing the day it went up, have not received it yet (or even got shipping confirmation for that matter) while my local record store was selling it on Friday for a slightly lower price than I paid.

This is the best way to do it. I used to buy Pratt mailers but had to add the cost to my shipping prices. Now I just buy the plain LP mailers and add cardboard inserts to fill the mailer. Never any issues with these mailers and cost less than half of the specialty mailers. I found a large paper guillotine at a thrift store for cheap and cut down recycled boxes for cardboard inserts.

I used to buy the Whiplash mailers but eventually the extra cost didn’t make sense for me. I’ve switched to the less interesting 12x12 mailers and I just add 2-4 cardboard squares, depending on how much free space needs to be filled before the scored flaps are flush with the record & squares. It’s much more cost effective, it’s sturdy, and I haven’t had a single issue with damage after shipping out ~150 orders in them.
