  3. I feel that. I'm pretty amped about that Slomatics/Ungraven split, but I'm really looking forward to some new albums from both those bands (and Conan) at some point in the future. I still have a bunch of the text wizard numbers in my phone and weirdly thought about sending something out the other day just to say hey.

  5. Here’s my take on your question. Era 1 of the band is Albums 1 and 2. They’re unlistenable and always have been. Era 2 is Albums 3 and 4. They were really great screamo albums in their day, and carry a lot of influential weight. I grew out of them by about 2006. Era 3 is Albums 5-7. These are the albums I enjoyed the most, and still listen to deep into my 30’s. Although DTGL was their peak and they get progressively worse. The first rule of Album 8 is we don’t talk about Album 8.

  6. Imagine bulling people for music tastes on a music forum. I started to listen to Underoath at the age of 30 and have no shame about it. That's a nice band.

  7. I think the majority of people have less of an actual problem with the show and more of a problem with how the organizers have painted themselves as martyrs, compared what the did to the Black Lives Matter protests, have been saying ivermeticin is a cure, and saying anyone that disagrees is a sheep that lives in fear. Like I said early, there’s a reason you don’t see certain people involved getting dragged through the mud.

  13. Lost in the Sound of Separation is a great place to start, in my opinion. It's the record I go back to most frequently, and the album the band told me they like the most when meeting them before the Rebirth Tour. It's layered, heavy, melodic, atmospheric, and experimental.

  14. They launch their new pre-orders – very reliably – at 7:00 AM PST, or a few minutes leading up to it. Hope that helps you out a bit.

  18. Lol, yeah I will weigh in because why not, But I am more or less in agreement. Act of depression is just pretty bad all around. (I have tried to like it many times, and failed) If your into "Black Metal" Cries of the Past has a few cool moments / tracks but is mostly bad. After that I would say Changing of Times was awesome for its day and still has some bangers. Next is TOCS and I really think its classic for its time, but more bland and one note than what's to come Next 2 Albums are genre masterpieces IMO (Define the great line and Lost in the sound...) Disambiguation is really good still, but a step down. Erase me is just.... yikes. No thanks dawg. Other bands do this sound way better,

  30. It is funny that it's happened with nearly every other MwY deluxe vinyl. I got to be part of that great double A/B side of the Pale Horses deluxe + the double lyrics where they expected you to tape on the replacement lyrics. I just kept it in the sleeve cause it's funnier without the permanent fix.

Please disregard that user – nothing s/he says should be taken seriously. It's an alternate account of someone in the community who doesn't get enough attention in the real world. To catch you up to speed, they pretend to be obsessed with The Used and contribute nothing beneficial to VC. A great candidate for your Ignore List in your profile preferences, if you wanted to give that a shot.

  33. Actually not anymore dude. The first month or so was a mess, but anyone over 16 can get the vaccine now without an appointment. Go to publix lol. I agree man. I live in Florida (I know...) and there are comparatively way worse things here than the NYC show in the park happening every single day, like normal. Today where I live there is a parade and festival downtown, clubs are open, restaurants are seating a full capacity, sporting events have fans etc, etc. Is this a two wrongs don't make a right scenario? Maybe, I'm not a scientist. But I think it's wrong for so many to point fingers at the bands and crowd who participated in this show and outcast them like they are some sort of domestic terrorist. Get real, we're not enemies here. For the keyboard warriors in here who are about to try and put me in a corner, go ahead. I still wear a mask everywhere I go and consider myself to be responsible, I know covid is real and still a thing. I've been vaccinated since February, and latest headline I read said one third of the country already is too. I respect people who choose to stay home and not participate in social things (me most of the time), but it's not 2020 anymore, the risk involved with going out in public isn't as bad as it was. Just be responsible. I told myself I wouldn't participate in this conversation because no one here is changing anyone else's minds...but fuck, here I am 🙄

    GET CHUCKED

You should partner with a vinyl sub service, like Vinyl Me Please or Magnolia, that brings in a lot of new/first time collectors who would be interested in a slightly fancier accessory for their exciting new hobby. People here will e-stab you to death if you dare try and start any vinyl related business that isn’t printing bootleg Brand New LP slip covers.

  38. I've been comparing some of the first pressings with the boxset. Here's what I found: -Boxset sound quality is superior across the board -Cover art is more vibrant than on older pressings, and the deloused jellyfish artwork for the boxset is a different take than the one used on the mov pressing -For the most part, materials used on the originals are of better quality. Especially ftm. The original is like cardboard whereas the boxset version is flimsier -Vinyl weight is noticeably heavier on older pressings -Landscape Tantrums is awesome Overall, the boxset is sweet. You can tell a lot of heart went into making the music and artwork shine. It'd be nice to have an At the drive in boxset to accompany this one, but after reading the boxset liner notes, I doubt that's ever going to happen.

  39. In my experience with other box sets, the mere pulling out and replacing of albums from the set creates shiny scuff wear in the direction of the pull on the front and back faces of the jackets regardless of the coating (matte, gloss, high gloss, etc.). Its usually only visible under certain angles of light. Might be wise to bag each album inside the box. Shouldn't add too much more thickness to contend with the inner capacity of the box enclosure.

The sleeve for Mr. Muggs in my box was pretty trashed. I don’t know how that happened but can only assume someone fucking jammed it in and bent it. I’m going to see if I can get a replacement sleeve. I also have a small scuff on the de-loused jacket which I’m not too fussed about but if they have a replacement then I’ll take it. Overall the box set is decent and the 4 albums I’ve listened to so far sound great. My only (minor) criticism (apart from the vinyl weight issue) is the shitty paper sleeves they used. It takes away from the overall quality of the box.

  41. A while back I posted about a neighbor who had shelves and shelves of mostly jazz and soul records in their two garages. Every time they would have a garage sale I would try to stop by to get them to let me look through some of them. One day they finally let me check out some in the main garage. Unfortunately I was recovering from a bad back and I didn't have my reading glasses which made it difficult. They told me they were going to have a guy come in and go through it all, even though I had been talking with them for a while about it. From what I did see there was a lot of potential and a lot of disappointment with rare titles having jacked up discs. Anyway, I finally went back today and it had all been gone through numerous times at this point. I did pick up 40 records, but nothing to jump up and down about. Got some sealed Dizzy and Dinah. Also a couple Graham Central Station, Jack McDuff, and a 12 inch of Miles playing Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time". Herbie Mann fans would have gone to town! They were all a buck a piece, so good prices, but damn I wonder what I missed out on. Probably a lot. I should have been more persistent, but I just don't have that drive like I did in my 20's and 30's.

  42. Ironically just bought this on cassette because this has always been my favorite femmes release and thought well it will never be on vinyl, so tape is best I’ll get... then poof! grabbed a pink (even though I loathe UO, I feel it may be more limited than the indie exclusive?)
