  1. Bandbox is free this month (code: HAPPYBIRTHDAY) if you pick one of their 6 offered exclusives: Elliott Smith Black Pumas Tycho Nada Surf The Hold Steady Beach Bunny I have a few records from them and they always include an LP sleeve-sized booklet about the band/ album. It's not worth $36, but it's worth $0 if you want any exclusive, imo.

  4. Mono vs. Stereo is an apples and oranges comparison, but I'm glad you're happy with both versions. I have the UHQR and it's a wonderful pressing. Also have the 2013 mono reissue and that too is incredible. But jazz in general I think sounds better in mono.

  8. Thanks, that was really helpful! The song surprised me. I like it, but I can see how it would be really divisive. I can't imagine the entire album will be like this. As Derek mentioned, the last minute hints at some traditional Deafheaven material. Still, I imagine this album will be pretty different, and I am here for it.

  13. Owen shares 'The Avalanche Remixes' + announces livestream performance Announcing The Avalanche Remixes, a full reimagining of the latest album from Owen, aka prolific Chicago musician & songwriter Mike Kinsella. When it came to remixing the entire record, Mike called on an incredibly talented array of friends and peers including Jay Som, Thao Nguyen, NNAMDÏ, Now, Now, Norman Brannon, and Hrishikesh Hirway among others, to add their unique spin to these nine tracks. Listen now in full – available on all your favorite digital platforms. “I’m so honored to have so many truly unique / creative voices spend time and critical thought deconstructing and then reconstructing these songs that I had lived with solely as my own for so long. I find myself marveling at the different production techniques, the minute details others chose to focus on, and overall, how much of everyone’s personality shines through each of their respective mixes. The outcome is much greater than the sum of its individual contributions - a collection of cohesive chaos.” – Mike Kinsella Owen fans across the globe now have the opportunity to watch the first ever live performance of The Avalanche (which Pitchfork dubbed “the most objectively gorgeous work as Owen to date.”). Mike will perform the album in its entirety along with a strings accompaniment on July 7 @ 9pm ET. Tickets are onsale now via Dreamstage. The Avalanche Remixes Tracklist: A New Muse (Atiba Remix) Dead For Days (Norman Brannon’s Slowcode Remix) On With The Show (Hrishikesh Hirway Remix) The Contours (Thao Remix) I Should’ve Known (Sander van Dijck Remix) Mom And Dead (Jay Som Remix) Headphoned (Good Fuck Remix) Wanting And Willing (NNAMDÏ Remix) I Go, Ego (Now, Now Remix)

  16. Chappelle is pretty out of touch imo. He is a fantastic comedian but to make speeches like this while also supporting people like Kamala Harris is not it for me. But aside from peoples thoughts on the content, who cares if people want it. I literally have a 7 inch for fucking bug snacks lol.

This album was in press until sometime late last year (I remember seeing the beer w/ blue blob variant available at places such as Zia Records and even Amazon). I would just wait it out, they will repress it eventually. I would assume we’ll see a repress at some point this year. Newbury Comics did an exclusive last summer and I wouldn’t doubt they have another planned. Good luck!

    PO: Chance the Rapper

At this point, the bootleggers need to press up a double “A” sided 12-inch of just “Juice,” and cut it REALLY hot on side B. I would buy two of them. 😄

  21. Some real throwbacks to buzzy bands of the past in these. Post to Wire by Richmond Fontaine and The Thrills’ So Much For the City made me pause to see if I remembered anything of substance about those albums. Along the same lines, I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about a repress of WU LYF’s Go Tell Fire to the Mountain, considering how hard it’s been to find on vinyl since it came out. Maybe not a ton of people know about it, but those who like it generally love it. I think it’s UK only but I’m hoping to luck into a copy somehow.
