Yeah this is the mentality I've got at the moment, not only has it been a long-standing pattern, but all the recent press with him is just him begging for pity without truly copping responsibility. Classic move on an abuser's part to be victimizing themselves in times like these. He's not sorry he did anything, he's sorry he got caught.5 points -

oh for sure man I feel soooOOOooOOoo sorry for them, being born 50 years too late to be able to openly hit on and/or fuck 15 year old girls like Elvis was able to get away with, foh5 points -
Yeah, I have complex opinions on the matter, but don't really have the energy to write it all out. the tl;dr version is basically: Good or bad, right or wrong, Ryan hit rock bottom. If he is able to actually work through his shit, and get help, I think it is possible for him to come out a good/better person. This is based on me believing that he has legitimate mental health issues, and not that he is just an asshole who chose to do shitty things because he is a shitty person. Some of you guys are ruthless, and frankly I am sad for you. The world is rarely so black and white, and we are all complex flawed people. I hope if any of you truly screw something up in your life, those around you have a more compassionate and forgiving attitude toward you.5 points

Currently working on a review for an outlet down here in Australia. Can honestly say that I think this is their best work since Slip. Has the right balance of all of their best elements, while not sounding like a nostalgia trip.3 points -
Its a bloodsport more it is any true moral outrage if you ask me. His actions definitely warrant condemnation, for sure. However in my experience, we seldom hold our friends, families, co-workers or ourselves to these same standards. There's just something enjoyable about destroying something or somebody.2 points

This. The new social flogging is (imo) sometimes worse than any jail punishment someone could receive. Take it easy fellas. People really have strong opinions over events they were never present for nor have all the details for.2 points

You’re right it’s not black and white. but also, this is not recent behavior. Since whiskeytown he’s demonstrated time and time again a pattern of toxic behavior. There are countless examples that come to mind from my almost 20 years of hardcore fandom. For a long time, me and certainly others wrote it off as rock n roll assholish behavior. But through the spectrum of the NYT article, it’s clear that it’s bigger and more ingrained than that. he does need help. I hope he truly makes amends and works to better himself (it’s not done after 2 years of radio silence and an apology in the daily mail (of all papers). A redemption story is one everyone loves. I hope he gets one. I’m just not optimistic.2 points -

Here's the thing: he clearly hasn't, and has no intention to. His behavior hasn't changed in 20 years and he shows no signs that he's likely to change. A person who wants to heal, change, and grow will find a way to do it. A person who doesn't want to will find ways not to. Also lol @ everyone but you being hyperbolic1 point

LMAO what utter horseshit. Oh I'm sorry we all forgot to relitigate everyone before we talk about Ryan Adams on *checks notes* a Ryan Adams thread. Weird that you didn't mention The Nudge and Gary Glitter yourself. Are those omissions enough for us to call you out as a hypocrite, given your terms or do you think you should avoid being held account according to the standards you've set out for everyone else?1 point -
Haha. Don't be a child. Read what I said again. I'm not defending his actions, but questioning why everyone here is jumping on Ryan Adams when Bowie is still praised as a genius despite having sex with multiple teenagers. It's just hypocritical. I don't think people here would be jumping on Bowie or Chris Brown with as much vitriol and hatred should there be threads about them. He's been called out. He's lost everything he's had. He's not perfect. Let him heal. He did not murder/rape. No use to just keep pounding him selectively and repeatedly because he did something that doesn't fit your/our moral compass and because it's cool or easy to do something like that in this era.1 point

Some of us wish that the guy that self-pityingly (but also honestly) sung "Screw all my friends/They're all full of shit/With a smile on your face/And then do it again/I wish you would" over 20 years ago would have grown and matured out of that self-destructive behaviour, especially given the access to mental health that comes with money & fame. Some of us don't sit around and justify or rationalize such behaviour in others. Some of us have decided to avoid being experts at enablement and don't confuse compassion with it. Some of us have grown the fuck up and expect others to do the same. *emoji shrug*1 point -
Slightly unrelated but Spencer was just featured on a new Brand Of Sacrifice single titled “Enemy”. They still have a few copies of the 7” available. The song is awesome, and it’s pretty cool to see Spencer featured in such a heavy song! Hopefully that's the case. This is the first thing I've ever pre-ordered from Target. Never had to do this for a pre-order elsewhere and thought it was odd. Thanks for the info.1 point

I wish i could find more stuff that's even close to the caliber of Terrified. Easily one of the best horror movies I've seen in recent memory. Ugh, I'd managed to forget all about that remake. One other that I'll recommend that i really enjoyed was Belzebuth. It's really the first 2/3rds that I'm recommending, as I'm not crazy about the conclusion, but it comes out the gate so ridiculously strong. Glad you're on the service though, hopefully you'll have some rec's from it that i've not seen yet. There is a ton of stuff on their, but after a lot of viewing I'm starting to run out of the "must watch" options i had on my list.1 point -

Terrified is absolutely incredible. One of my favorite horror films in recent memory. I was using someone else’s account a couple years ago when we watched it. And then I bought the blu-ray when it came out. Not super excited about the remake that’s supposedly coming out though 😒. Still need to get to Haunt. I know I added it to my list last night so hopefully that’ll be soon.1 point -

Host was the reason my wife and i signed up for Shudder last year, and was also what we used to break in the service. It's really damn great as noted - run time is perfect, love when a movie knows not to overstay it's welcome. If you haven't seen Terrified yet that would be number one recommendation from the service. I would also highly recommend Haunt, as it is an absolute blast of flick.1 point -

Best way I can sum it up. A lot of single string type riffs like Slip, but I think this is an entire group effort as it pulls from all their respective projects and influences. I will say this though - while there are softer Rival Schools elements (only natural as the 98 demos were heading that direction), this record is far heavier than Interiors. Production is excellent too.1 point -

My dust cover always gets dusty. There is a thick layer of dust on it right now. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to prevent this? I don't want to do any dusting and can't afford a solution that automatically removes dust particles from the air. Do they make dust cover covers?1 point
