  1. Sell it. Pandemic brain has new collectors paying top dollar for stuff you'll more than likely never spin again, hang onto records that actually mean something to you, invest the money into installing a stone pizza oven in your backyard 💪🍕

  3. The fun part is that Andrew Schwab has no part in this vinyl issue whatsoever. Long story short, I learned awhile back that licensing rights for vinyl don't really require any permission outside of an agreement with the publishing rights holders. It is more complicated than that (and infamously capitol EMI is apparently a nightmare to deal with for any and all T&N-releated reissues). Randy, Alex, and Steven don't require Schwab's permission to do this. It is literally a separate project they spearheaded. Hilariously Schwab had no idea until it dropped today. He's telling people on Patreon "we will get to the bottom of this" and "this is bootleg." lmao. Delicious KARMA imo. Last year's DBL "celebration" amounted to just Andrew, no og members, a ridiculous $250 per ticket covid distanced concert, a "sit down dinner with the band", and ofc the fabulous banning of Steven and Randy from the P86 facebook page for daring to criticize Schwab's shitshow. I'm really happy those three dudes are doing this.

  15. Discogs should add a field so you can record how much you paid for a record and upload a receipt.

  18. So many great points in all the posts above,@IndigoHollowprobably summed it up best. From my own personal experience in collecting the past 15 years and becoming stressed out about many of the same things you are, here are some things that helped me more recently: I try to keep my collection under 500 records, this is my own personal comfortability threshold, physically & financially. I don't want to deal with 20 Kallax units worth of records. As I approach the 500 number in order to justify buying more, I've got to sell 10-20 to make room. Usually by that point, its pretty easy to find a few to weed out as I get tired of them I used to be so worried about "resale value" and keeping them pristine. I had poly sleeves for every record and each time id take one out to play it was such a process. I threw them all out one day and said fuck it, if I'm gonna enjoy it I'm gonna enjoy it. If some asshole wants to buy one of my records down the line he'll get some wear, whatever. This decision has helped my personal enjoyment immensely Good luck, hope you find what you're looking for.

  19. Record collecting can be and is a pain in the ass hobby depending on what type of person you are. If you're in it for the love of the music and the artists/bands and don't care for condition of jackets and sleeves (as long as not completely trashed & wrecked), you'll be happy to listen to the record itself given that it's clean and plays. If you're an OCD completist asshole...like I tend to be with certain bands & artists...then you can and will be on a long road of heartbreak & disappointment and questioning your role in the hobby and the potential loss of "fun". I can understand & relate to the OP's post and all subsequent responses and replies. The older we get, priorities in life shift and change, but it's all matter of being able to make time (and money) for the things that bring you some sort of respite and enjoyment. If you feel that record collecting is now having a negative effect on your self and life...then you may want to reassess things and even consider getting help. And I don't mean that as an insult. It's a legitimate thing to consider. I have a friend who ran a label and worked at a record store and was a serious collector. He reached a point where he was stressing out majorly over getting all variants of his favorite bands' releases and being a completist as much as possible. It became a compulsion. He recognized this was causing a problem in his life so he sought professional help. He eventually came to grips with things and sold off a chunk of his collection and learned to manage the stress of it all. He's in a much better place now and is happier.

  20. Impulsively selling your collection doesn’t seem like it would help you- I can only imagine the remorse you’d feel. I would seriously just take a break and enjoy what you have or discover stuff you like that you can get your hands on easily. The past two years has sucked for collecting and the hobby in general. I relate to what you said about the frustration altering your relationship with music. Having to be selective (for many reasons) about buying music sucks now.

  22. Seek assistance from a professional edit - selling records is stressful so if you are already stressed selling them isn’t going to help. Just stop buying new ones. If you can’t stop see my original statement

yeah, you're probably gonna have to spend a bit more haha. All my copies were $150 or more before shipping, and from Europe. I bought them as a coping mechanism for when my last childhood cats died within a month of each other last year, and I think i was in around $200 total for each. I didn't care about cost, I just needed them to help me. The band was supposed to do them before Covid hit, and intends to eventually get to it, so we may get lucky, but you're going to have to either wait it out, offer up more cash, or hope to get lucky on Discogs haha. Godspeed on your search friend.

  25. Now I’m just waiting on the obligatory “what, you guys would be fine with a scratched door or broken headlight if you paid five figures for a car? I’m paying full price for a new product here, this is unacceptable” post.
