Got my Smartpunk order today. Very satisfied. It was nice buying records at 2010 prices again.

There's been a running conversation with Sean who runs their distribution company about it on this page of this thread for like...the last week.

Year Zero is still coming soon. I think it's been about 7 years at this point. Maybe i'll go drop a bunch of money on an OG so the reissue can move forward.

thats cool and all but youre about 40 years too late on that. i havent listened to the track but i bet it sounds like most SG which makes half the people on here dizzy and the other half angry some of the best music of this century has been made with a keyboard and a hard drive (edit: not even that kind of keyboard)

I'm with you on this. Yeah...seems like homie is hung up on some semantic stuff here. Like, if she'd been fully forthright and credited the producer would they still be upset? And it sounds like the issue is only with her "best" track. Rappers constantly buy already made tracks and put their lyrics over them, is that also not "real" music? Tons of pop artists have someone else write for them and are popular/easy to listen to or other bands have only one songwriter in the group and the rest of the band just plays their songs. I just don't have the bandwidth to get upset over this kind of stuff.

When I first started buying vinyl 15 or so years ago, I had also just discovered Thou. I hunted down all of their releases at that point and made the conscious decision to be a completionist with their discography (sans variants). Little did I know what I was in for, ha! Still following them all these years later. Great band. Not for everyone.

Just by coincidence I listened to my OG copy a couple weeks ago (and the first time since I’ve gotten a better table and setup), and it still doesn’t sound that bad to me. I remember the CD being mixed like garbage but that’s it. I’m a sucker though and I ended up ordering. I really love the album and I’m curious to how much better they made it sound plus there’s bonus tracks so 🤷🏻‍♂️. Of course we don’t know what they are yet. Probably early demo versions of a couple songs that I won’t care about lol

I enjoyed the Wisp ep the few times I've listened to it, and knowing that these are 'collaborations' with her vocals and other bands' instrumentations doesn't so much hamper me liking the sound of it, but it would at least make me hesitant about going to a show, not knowing if there would be any sort of cohesive band. It would also halt a blind buy of her future music, as she tries to actually learn to play instruments - which she said she is now doing. Who knows if she'll live up to the hype and praise she's being given or will justify some people's distain. Time will tell.

Yeah, that price was egregious. If they'd even originally priced it at like... $30 shipped it probably would have sold out by now. $20 has become my limit for stuff like this that is really just nostalgia bait though and waiting it out has paid off more often than not. That Spitalfield anniversary reissue and a couple other things were just on a big sale too, so I'm glad I didn't shell out for them at the initial prices.

If it were less limited/was a larger pressing so they could sell them for $20-25 I'd definitely grab one. Part of the problem for me is that the visuals actually add a lot to this for me, so while I enjoy it musically for what it is, I'm still not even getting the full experience from the record and they're charging stupid prices for it.
