  1. Yeah, that's one I'm for sure excited about!
  2. Good to know. I thought the premise sounded good, but I’d yet to see enough that had sold me on actually watching it. Side note- Not horror really, but the new Godzilla is incredible.
  3. Yeah, based on prior releases I’m shocked the non-autographed version is only $30. Would have probably held off at prior inflated prices, but (even with $15 shipping) grabbed a copy to check out.
  4. We’re up to “live” on 30 Coins (new episodes on Monday, I’m assuming 3 more to go for season 3) - it’s wild. I was genuinely shocked by one scene this season. It’s a ton of fun, much darker in season two, but just bounds of creativity. Obviously I highly recommend it. Struggling like crazy to find a movie we want to watch though ☹️ was hoping to work a couple in before we started Scavengers Reign.
  5. We're 5 episodes through 30 Coins and it's awesome. Very Twin Peaks-esque in that it's weird and leans heavily into soap opera melodrama. Great (at times subtle) world building that expands as the series progresses, and a few Carpenter-esque creature designs.
  6. I really hope they do a wider tour next year - caught them right before the COVID shutdowns back in early 2020 and they were a super fun live show.
  7. This one is better than the second, so you should enjoy it for sure.
  8. I really enjoyed that new Hell House movie on Shudder - doesn’t break any new ground in the found footage genre, but is actually really well done with some really creepy scenes.
  9. Totally Killer was a ton of fun — thanks for the recommendation!
  10. I'm so far behind - finally started Final Fantasy XVI yesterday and put around 6 hours into it, really love it so far. *Then* I've got Armored Core 6 to play still. Once those two are done (hopefully by Christmas, my gaming time is so limited right now) I hope to play Alan Wake 2.
  11. Starting 30 Coins tonight; after that we're going to check out Scavengers Reign because the reviews on that look awesome.
  12. We finally finished Fall of the House of Usher a couple days ago - I thought it was fine, but I'm not crazy about this structure when there really isn't any "present day" narrative to speak of - I know that each episode around one of the kids is present day when compared to the Roderick/Madeline-younger flashbacks, but they are still all *flashbacks* - Hill House managed to balance an ongoing narrative with flashbacks which is way more effective to me, this one just never felt like it had any real stakes since everything (excepting the very final scene) had already passed. SO, it was better than Bly (but to me only by a bit) and obviously better than Midnight Club because i thought that one was really bad. Midnight Mass and Hill House remain unfuckwithable.
  13. Yeah, it's true. He also wanted to go to a haunted house for the first time this year - problematic because he is definitely afraid of the dark - so I made plans with my friend and his daughter and we all went out to a local place that has five different haunted house (all of which are actually pretty good) and I'll be damned if he didn't love every one of them. Hopefully he'll have a thirst for more horror, but I'm slow rolling it for now.
  14. I watched the FNAF movie - lol - it was not good. But my 12 year old thought is was perfect so I guess job done.
  15. If you haven’t, give his first one - Terrified - a try. It’s also really really good. He’s stupid talented.
  16. Now I definitely need to check it out because Final Girls was also awesome. Looks like this will probably be one of our weekend movies this week!
  17. Oh dang, this is a compelling recommendation. Love those movies.
  18. Yeah, I went and caught a late-night showing of Talk to Me in the theater and really enjoyed it - then I rented it with my wife this past Sunday night and it was great on the re-watch as well. I'm also very excited for The Fall of the House of Usher, we'll be checking it out this weekend as well!
  19. Yeah, we had a good time with that one too. I like how the aliens were kind of goofy and then the alien-on-the-roof shows up and both my wife and I were both like "nope. nope, nope, nope" great designs on some of them. We want and caught a 10PM of When Evil Lurks last night (follow up from Demián Rugna who of course did Terrified) - not as scary as Terrified but easily twice as brutal. Just an amazing and devastating watch, definitely catch it on the big screen if you can.
  20. Anything good on streaming that's relatively new? Looking for something that's scary but not gory (wife's preference). Just striking out lately.
  21. Nice. I’d love to catch him, but he hasn’t come by here yet - they just announced a new run for him that *also* doesn’t come through here, but there are apparently October dates forthcoming still…
  22. Good deal! Like I said, it was a great show and an amazing opportunity we couldn’t miss. Matt was super nice and chill also. We’ve seen Dave Bazan / Pedro the Lion a couple times via Undertow’s living room show setup, and he’s (unsurprisingly) awesome in the uber-small setting as well.
  23. Me and a buddy did this a few years back / it was a great show as long as you go in knowing (I assume this has not changed) that he’s only playing solo material + 1 Centaur song (+1 cover).
  24. I can see that logic. Ours was a 930 showing, which my local had screenings for a few nights this past week, but only 930 showings. It was pretty well sold, not sold out but fairly full, and I don’t think there was any issue whatsoever with our crowd. I was also a little worried about that, having seen it already, and knowing that it’s certainly a bit more blurry and art house than people might expect, but crowd was really receptive and had some really good interaction / reactions on some of the creepier/scarier parts, and it was overall a fun experience. I’m not sure if I liked it any *more* seeing it in the theater or not, but it was fun to get out anyway. My wife and I watch The Vigil back in 2020? 2021? Whenever it came out, and we enjoyed it quite a bit.
  25. Going to catch Skinamarink at my local arthouse in a couple hours. I’m pretty sure / hoping it’ll play better in a completely dark room with booming sound, but I suppose I’ll see!
