  1. I ordered black sails when it went up for PO from Nitro and got it when they had them in hand. So don't think there was a problem with the pressing but sucks if people didn't get them. Sounds like a mailorder issue.
  2. Haven't been following, but what are the delays? I was under the impression they cancelled a bunch of these releases, or maybe just Guttermouth?
  3. Christ, it was just a joke. The part about not buying it was more about the price than the contents.
  4. No, $50 for that and for a mug and coffee. Record collecting is for actual yuppies now (nothing against NPR, but the video stream there seems super appropriate too). But seriously. I'd feel like a jackass buying that.
  5. Which is exactly what happened with the fan club, right? "We know you're still waiting on the product we didn't deliver, but for double the price, you can sign up next year for the same quality service." Deleted a longer rant because I didn't even order this so why bother. But it's a shame there isn't more of a value placed on the fans of this band. Not sure where that is coming from, but it's pretty obvious there's an issue here that needs to be sorted quickly. Can't think of many other major (or smaller) releases that consistently get so weird and messed up. Brand New POs aside, of course.
  6. His songwriting bores me to tears (sorry), but definitely a killer voice. Even just a Brian Fallon/Dave Hause collaboration would be sweet.
  7. Here's the video of the Vintage Vinyl show. Audio's kind of buried, but you get the idea. I like the record a lot and thought the songs came across really well live for the most part. I'm sure after a few more nights playing them out, they'll sound really awesome. A couple nice surprises in the set too. Definitely glad I made it to this one, especially since I can't bring myself to sit through seeing them at the other Jersey date on the tour. Hate that venue.
  8. Just watched the video from Letterman. Between that and the Vintage Vinyl show last Saturday, all I can say is that I think this band has finally reached a level of songwriting and performance where getting Alex L some vocal lessons would be a worthy investment.
  9. I get the feeling (based on how different this album cover is from anything else they've ever put out) that whatever was originally planned and designed was either scrapped last minute or rejected by Island so this is a rushed result. Could be totally wrong, but the cover and packaging really scream "last choice" to me.
  10. I find it really disrespectful to Jesse and the guys that you all would even joke around such an important record.
  11. I take my original review of this album (in this thread) back. It's great. Clicked after the third play through and been listening non-stop. I came on board with this band before sink or swim was released (though I didn't buy it on black back then, ouch) and was psyched about their progression until American Slang, which I still can't really listen to save for four or five songs. Thought Handwritten was trash, still do. But while Handwritten was awkward and sounded like they were trying to go for something that didn't quite work, this one nails it. It's the first one that Brian described as different that actually sounds it and throws aside the notions of the band that were obviously starting to bring the quality down in his songwriting. And although it's not typically a sound in music that I'm drawn to, it works here and they sound confident enough to play it. And the songwriting and lyrics are, for the most part, inspired again, albeit in a different style. That's been lacking for awhile in my opinion. Time will tell if I keep playing it as much as I am now, but it's definitely a good one. Glad to have a little renewed faith in this band. Hate Underground though. Only song I skip. Never thought you could rip off The National so poorly.
  12. ^^This is seriously awesome to see. Humanity points of the day go to you guys.
  13. Totally reasonable. And if people are spending $60 on two LPs, I'm sure they can spare the extra $5+ in media mail.
  14. Man. That is shit luck. If I see it again, I'll try to grab it for you.
  15. Go refresh right now, it's there. Almost every single time I've refreshed it's been there. How do you not have this yet!
  16. First song, 'Stay Vicious' http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x229zis_the-gaslight-anthem-stay-vicious-audio_music I don't hate it, but anything I like is similar to what I'd get out of a guilty pleasure pop song.
  17. Haha why didn't I guess you're from RAA. Makes total sense. I forgot how riled up you sycophants can get over DRA and his music. Also explains the Deadhead "you haven't listened to the show recordings" argument. Used to love when posters from altcountry.org would register at RAA, mess with the crybabies, and get their IP addresses banned for life in a matter of minutes. Great times. Also, fine if you don't like the band, but who are you to deem them unprofessional? Is that really a justified criticism? For instance, as much as I don't like Casal's awful music, I'd never call him unprofessional. Kind of a low blow, not that I'm surprised.
  18. Awesome, thanks, sounds really promising. Hope the tour swings through NYC at some point.
  19. Nah, the new songs sound inspired. Clearly Neal has nothing to do with this.
  20. According to this thread, I'm a meatball who expresses churlish and poorly worded opinions, but I'm really digging the new songs. Have a feeling this record will rip. Haven't really looked around too much, but does anybody know who's playing in his band now?
  21. Well clearly red is less limited since it's cheaper. $$$$$$$$$$
  22. Hopefully somebody here can help you out, but if not, and since you're willing to spend a bit more on it, I don't think you'll have a problem at all tracking one down on eBay once they ship.
