What do you guys think about the single?

Has anyone from VMP said/hinted anything about a variant? I don't frequent the VMP boards as much as I used to. I know VMP had exclusives of SSFDL and CT but those were both on Brassland not 4AD, so unless VMP has said something I don't think a VMP variant of SWB is inevitable.

But I realize it's my own fault, I definitely had time/opportunity to order. The two things that held me back were the shipping cost and that I prefer Jason's later S:O and MECo. work to early S:O.  

I think it's kind of crappy SC didn't just do an open order until the book was released i.e. for the entire pre-order period. The bundle sold out a lot earlier than I was expecting it to.

Yeah, you can't skip a month entirely or "bank" a swap for a future month. Each month, you'll either get the AOTM or swap it for a past AOTM or other record from the store (not all store records are available for swapping).

Don't think swapping will be an option for him, since single month members don't have the option to SWAP, only multi-month members.

And I subscribed for Demon Days last month for the first time. Moral of the story: Referrals only work for veteran users.

 

I'm in Canada; I need the referral codes because I don't get cheap/free shipping and the cost is already much more expensive. FUBAR.

Don't see why you're so bent out of shape, seems to me they offered you a perfectly reasonable alternative/workaround until the issue is resolved.

You have to sign up by the 15th of the month to get that month's record, so since you signed up after that you'll be getting Fiona. 

And I'm not 100% certain about this, but I think they may have changed it so that for monthly (i.e. single month/month-to-month, not multi-month) subscriptions you're charged right away. I assume this is to prevent people from signing up just to get access to/buy albums from their member store and then cancel before they get charged for the AOTM.

Pretty much everything VMP related (AOTM announcements, store openings, etc.) happens at 12pm ET / 9am PT.

Either way, you don't have to sell me on an AOTM subscription. If you read what I wrote, I was already willing to switch over for Demon Days. My problem is with VMP deliberately shafting crate subscription members this time by not reserving stock as they always have in the past, and not even informing us of this change to the formula.

I wouldn't say they've been "reserving stock" of previous AOTMs for crate subscribers (or full subscribers who wanted a second copy), it's just that for previous AOTMs the supply (amount VMP pressed) has always exceeded the demand from full subscribers, so there were always some copies left over for crate subscribers. With DD, the demand from full subscribers for the AOTM exceeded the supply. 

EDIT: The original reason for the crate subscription was to guarantee non-full members access to the member store, not guarantee access to previous AOTMs.

All multi-month subscriptions now included unlimited swaps of the AOTM, so you should never have to get an AOTM you don't actually want.
