The download I received had both FLAC and MP3, however the FLAC were released as 44.1 kHz, 16 bit files. They sound incredible, but I do wish he released them as 48 kHz, 24 bit files. They're worth it though considering the huge improvement made for Comfort and Magnified.

I agree, 16/44.1 is a relic, more so the 44.1 part. 16/48 or 24/48 should be the new de-facto digital standards.

im glad they sound good! I’m gonna grab the remasters for sure. Thanks for your input.

I just got the files less than an hour ago, initial impression... Magnified is greatly improved in mix and sounds better, more lush and textured... listening to "Wonderful Life" atm... which is my personal favorite on the album.   Curious why they didn't send out 24bit files, the download is 16bit.

    Are they lossless or mp3?

I wouldn’t get to wrapped up in them being inly 16bit. Modern 16bit files from 24bit transfers will sound much better than 16bit from the 90s. The quality of the source material, in this case the original masters, and the digital converters will make all the difference.

  3. Original pressings, all near mint, played only a handful of times. Make me offers, please.

Standing on the Shoulder of Giants

    Heathen Chemistry

    Don't Believe the Truth

    Dig Out Your Soul

I also have several singles from the same albums I'm willing to part with, I'll provide a list if there is interest.

Are you saying you don’t see something wrong with the band putting up a “test pressing” version of their single for over twice the price of the ordinary “limited” version, having an availability counter that turns red and reads “10 available, 9 available, etc...” as the copies sell, then suddenly having 10 more put up as soon as the first batch is gone?

Usually the incentive to buy these more expensive versions - especially on sites like Kickstarter and PledgeMusic - is that there’s a certain number and once they're gone that’s it.

What the band should have done was put all 50 or 100 or 500 test pressings up at once, but then it A ) wouldn’t looks as limited and B ) would force them to stick to an actual number of copies rather than the open-edition they currently seem to have up.

I mean, I get it’s within the band's rights to do what they want - it’s their music, their release - but this practice feels pretty shady to me and I can totally understand someone wanting to cancel if they ordered a test pressing and paid a premium thinking they were getting one of twenty copies or something.

I agree. I refuse to pay a premium for this when it seems like it’s going to be “unlimited”. If I ordered this and expected maybe ten or twenty of these to be pressed and that’s not the case, I’d cancel my order too.

I dont thinks its “shady” but they should be more straightforward when asking at least double for what a standard pressing costs.

  5. Five albums in a year gives you nothing to grow to truly love, or anything to look forward to. I get impatient when my favorite bands take what I perceive as being too long to release an album (C'mon MGMT, your new singles are great!), but FIVE in one year!

I like letting albums become favorites and looking forward to a new release. This also makes it a daunting task getting into them as a new fan.
