I bought a lot of 5000 records. Lp's and 78's. I came across 6 Edison Records that had no labels or black imprints. They all had plain off white centers with the Serial number imprinted and hand written titles. Do these have value?

I had a few of these a few years ago. Flipped 'em and it was nothing but oxy and porn for a year. Livin mega large! Good times!! Sit back and watch the cheddar roll in my man. Damn

LP mailers can get kind of expensive and I'm cheap as hell and have to much time on my hands. So as I'm looking at the entire shelf full of free boxes from the usps I started thinking to myself that I just may be able to cut them up and make my own lp mailers. After a few tries with different shaped boxes I figured out how to make pretty decent ones easily. After making a few it only takes me about 3 or 4 minutes to make one. Heres a tutorial for anyone who is as cheap as me.
If anyone has the measurements for a 7" mailer I would appreciate it too, I didn't have one so I couldn't make one. 7" mailers would come out even better since they require less cardboard.
What you need:
There are two different boxes from the usps you should get, a big more thin one and a large thick cardboard one. The two boxes you will want are: 12x12x8 and the other one is 12.5 x 15.5 x 3. They are the first and third boxes on the website.
You'll also need an exacto knife or box cutter, tape, sharpie and a straight edge.

Alright step one is deconstructing your two boxes. On the inside there is an overlap in the cardboard. These boxes use really shitty glue so just pull them apart with ease so the box is completely flat


Next up we are going to lay one of your lp mailers on the flat usps box and trace it. If you don't have a lp mailer to trace the picture below shows the measurements and you can just use a ruler to get what you need. You can place your measurements just right so one of the folds is already on a fold in the usps box.


Alright time to cut out your template. I just used my original lp mailer as a straight edge to make sure my cuts were straight. You can use a ruler or something else for this too.

Now you want to use your guide box to mark were the folds will be on the cardboard. If you don't have a guide box the measurements are just .75" away from each other or smaller depending on how many lps your shipping, you can make it a little bigger too but not by much or the box won't close all the way. Once you have your guides pull out your straight edge again and perforate where the fold will be. This will help the fold be nice and straight plus it will help you fold it without bending the cardboard. I showed the guides I made but I did not put the second guide for each fold because well that was were a cut was so it was already a guide.


Ok, now because of the way the box is made on one side there will be a slit in the cardboard. Just take some tape and tape this slit together. Once that’s done fold where you did all your perforating and the box will now be made.

Alright, we’re almost done you just have to cut the padding out from the thicker cardboard box now. So Just use your template box or use the measurements 12.5 x 12.5

Now the easy part: go make some trades, put the padding in front and back of the record, seal the box up and write fragile on it. Hopefully some other cheap people will get use out of this. It will probably take you 10 or 15 minutes to make your first box but once you know what you’re doing you will fly through the process.


Now that I finally have a 7" mailer I'm throwing in the measurements of that. Just follow the same instructions for the LP mailer just with these measurements instead.

Vinyl Collective Best Practices Policy for Dealing with Identified and Confirmed Scammers



One of the worst things to happen to an online community like ours is to have someone betray the trust of the other members by intentionally defrauding a buyer/seller/trader. We are setting a policy that we hope will protect the Vinyl Collective Community to the best extent possible and set a precedent that Scammers will not be tolerated.

First, what qualifies as an Offense worthy of Banning: You Sell an item and never deliver it. Further, you let your communication lapse to
the point no other conclusion can be reached except that you have intentionally defrauded another Member. You Buy an item and then later you file a PayPal claim to get your money back even
though you received the item. It is unacceptable to use PayPal policy to defraud a VC Member. You Trade for an item but don’t live up to your end of the deal by delivering the item. You Sell or Trade for an item and what you send is either intentionally the wrong item or so grossly damaged that it can only be interpreted that you were attempting to rip-off the other party.

 
All of the above instances have occurred. In the past we have not IP Blocked identified scammers and many have come back with new user names to prey on the good nature of our community. This will now stop.


The issue that is the trickiest is when to ban and block a user. We want our members to have every opportunity to resolve these matters and keep lines of communication open. Now, knowing that action will be taken we have a very simple suggestion:


 
Going forward, before you agree to a final deal, please exchange email addresses and confirm they
work. Once a member is IP Blocked this will be your only means of communication
with them if you still retain hopes of connecting with them.



We will not IP Block an identified Scammer instantly, we will leave a 30 day window open for things to be resolved via VC. After this considerable amount of time it would be negligent for us to allow someone confirmed as a scammer to have the opportunity to prey on another user.



Course of Action:

If you have been ripped off, report it to a Mod. While WE CANNOT HELP IN ANY WAY TO GET BACK PROPERTY OR MONEY, we ask you to suggest a course of action. Mod will contact and allow the identified user a chance to respond and set things right. If a Mod has early evidence or suspicion a thread will be locked immediately with a warning. If after 30 days from initial complaint it is confirmed this was a scam we will now IP Block the User so they cannot open a new account. Each case and the appropriate action will be left to the discretion of the Mod Team and can be assessed independently.
Finally, take note that from here on out, ripping off another member will come down with Zero Tolerance. Regardless if you have 10 posts or 10,000 – if you take advantage of the Trust of this Community and do not set things right then you will be removed.

Hey everyone!  About six weeks ago I took the plunge and decided to buy a turntable (Technics SL-D1) and some records.  Luckily my dad had an old Kenwood receiver and some JBL speakers lying around, so I was set.
 
To say the least, vinyl has become a little obsession of mine over the past six weeks.  I've already blown most of the money that I'd been making from my new job, but hey, it's not like I had anything else to spend that cash on.
 
Anyways, here's my collection so far.  Most of these LPs are reissues, as I just don't have the kind of money to afford great quality original pressings (for the most part).  Still, I'm pleased with where my collection is at.  What do you guys think?
