This is me exactly. Those first EPs were so huge to me, I just can't let go. I'll buy into anything they/he releases on the off chance they/he can capture some of that magic again.

Production debate aside, we can all agree it fucking slaps though right?

I still think the production on this thing is gross and questionable at best.  I don’t personally feel like it was specifically sonically engineered to be played at loud volumes, so much as I believe that most music just sounds better at higher volumes while it surrounds you in the car.  The guitars, especially, do not pop or hit as hard as anything else I stream in my car.  But cranking the volume while driving definitely masks my qualm, a bit, and sounds much better than headphones or earbuds.  Still one of the worst mastering jobs I’ve heard in recent years... at least in the pool of artists and records I check out.  Fortunately the songwriting and album’s pacing is a pretty massive saving grace; way less cheese and far more consistency compared to ToT.  Just my 2¢.

Blue Line Baby gets even better with every listen. So does us/we/are. So. Good.

Listening to Chloroform immediately after Hope ended, and it’s flawless representation of what Dance could be really hurts it even more for me.
 
However, pushing the trash production aside, the album as a whole is growing on me as I keep listening.  I just know it won’t ever reach its full potential sadly.

Thank christ they figured out how to sequence an album again. That back half slog of ToT is completely gone in favor of one long slow burner as the penultimate track with bangers all around. Pleased after my first listen.

I'm a fan of the stupid bleeping in Trapped In Dillards. After 4 listens the only song I'm not head over heels for is Crown Candy. The whole album is a middle ground between Foxing and Smidley. I hoped that wouldn't happen because a few of the Smidley songs are terrible but they did it and I was wrong which is cool.

The test presses arrived today and they sound incredible. I was nervous just because of how heavy the bass is, but the mix is incredible + vinyl master turned out beautiful. 45rpm as well.
