I'm not a professional, but definitely look into this, you have until April to put money into an IRA for 2012. A traditional IRA is pre tax, so if you put the minimum you can into that (depends on who you'll use), that should lower your Gross income. I'm not sure how it works since tax forms will be sent out or if it's even smart to do that for a short term gain like the grant money. Maybe TBL or Dreamover can weigh in on this one

I'm wondering why you answered this the way you did. Because in my mind, wouldn't it make more sense to pay it off at once so you don't have to pay interest on the gradual payments? Also, won't your credit score be better by making full payments every month? Not trying to start an argument, I'm actually wondering

Thanks man! It's weird to me that The Poughkeepsie Tapes still has no deal/dvd, especially when stuff like VHS is getting made. I mean, it's years old at this point and before the current found footage type trend. That scene where he's crawling (you know the part), gets me every time. I missed this thread the first time around. A friend of mine was in a similar situation (gotta love okcupid) Does your girl reply at all, to anything he writes? Even if it's a "Leave me a alone"? My friend did this and as soon as she stop replying at all, he gave up and lost interest and probably moved on to someone else. It took a month or so for it to finally kick in but it worked If your girl uses gmail, I think they have an auto reply feature. So one thing you could do is set it for him with a "this email doesn't exist anymore". Also within gmail, if she isn't in a contract, she could port her number to google voice, get a new number, forward all calls/texts from her old number to her new number and then block his ass on that. I know you can have specific voicemails for specific numbers, so that could be a disconnected one for him if he tries calling.

Here's my advice, number 1, be 100% debt free. If you're not and you drop the kind of cash that you need to on a down payment and then mortage, then you'll never get out of debt especially with the interest. Number 2, I know you said you don't want the responsibility of a house, but (in my opinion), a house is a million times better than a condo, which to me is a glorified apartment. You'll also have to pay a couple hundred bucks a month in association fees, so may as well put that towards a house. The yard maintenence is easy to take car of. Not sure where you live, but at least in CA, they have people basically in bidding wars to take care of it. If you don't have that, there's gotta be a kid on the street who would want to make a couple bucks Number 3, if you can, put a 20% down payment down. That way you won't have to pay mortgage insurance Number 4, get an inspection. Seriously. Before I bought my house, I was looking at another, but the inspection saved my ass. I would have been screwed if I bought the first one with no inspection Number 5, prepare for everything to cost more than you thought I bought my place a few years ago, so I don't know if that uch has changed, but feel free to pm me if you have any more questions Also, I just want to say, this is the best thing I've ever done and the feeling it gives you is amazing!

Thanks again for the replies gabpower - that's basically the kind of info I was looking for. If I don't "NEED" a Mac to do those things, then perfect jacobraccuia - I consider what I want to do basic within those specific programs. Like, I'm not a photographer, but I may want to color correct pictures my mom takes with her disposable camera once she gets it developed or put my pugs head on my body and stupid stuff like that. But I agree with what thebiglebowski said, what makes them better? Definitely not trying to start a mac vs pc type thread, but looking for honest and as unbiased as possible. For example, you mentioned the mbp for 1300, but I could get a Dell with 8gb of ram and a tb hd for 500 on black friday where as the mac is 4gb or so and 500 or 750

I never thought of going that route Fingers crossed for BF. I've been lucky the past few years and have been able to get stuff I wanted online. Granted I'm not trying to get the 100 dollar laptop at Walmart or whatever, so I'm hoping that the higher priced ones will be easier to get if it's not a doorbuster. Thanks again guys!
