Having no clue GYBE were prepping a new album and DMST being one of my all-time favorite bands, this is the greatest thing ever to read on a Monday morning. I'm going to try to hold off on listening to any live clips for now, but I'm hyped!

2 new tracks debuted tonight.  Lines up with a Belgian article that recently mentioned a new album in September.  The video clips I heard were glorious… but I also say this as someone who’s really happy with their last album, and isn’t even remotely tired of them covering the same ground they do so well.
Bits of the percussion and flow at a few parts were giving me major DMST vibes.  Which is a good thing.

IRS announces delay in Form 1099-K reporting threshold for third party platform payments in 2023; plans for a threshold of $5,000 for 2024 to phase in implementation

It seems to say that the $5000 threshold for 2024 is temporary to eventually drop to $600 in the future. I hope they rethink that. Even $5000 isn't great.

That has always been my assumption/understanding as well. For albums that have a ton of copies pressed, over time the stampers (the two plates that press the ball of wax to create the vinyl record) wear out, so they have to make additional stampers to switch out after a certain amount of copies created. Additionally, there could be multiple manufacturing plants producing copies of the same album at the same time, which are sometimes indicated in the matrix info as well.

A very detailed documentation of this process can be seen on the Pink Floyd Archives website. The link here is the list of all known US presses of Dark Side Of The Moon, which you can see are listed with many matrices at different pressing plants over different issue periods. Sometimes it can be worth it to search out a 'true 1st pressing' but a lot of times the '1st issue' is basically a grouping of 1st presses and is just as acceptable.

Agreed. Also their rendition of Thom's song feelingpulledapartbyhorses was sick live too. I hope we get that in studio form someday.

I’m sure I’ll still enjoy it a bit but that is a major bummer to me personally. I’ll always enjoy the louder and more dynamic Sigur Rós over the Valtari sounding stuff. I love this band either way and have been anticipating a new release for a long time.

According to this article it mentions, "In a press release, Jónsi said that the band found themselves 'just wanting to have minimal drums and for the music to be really sparse, floaty and beautiful.'" So your odds aren't great haha.

That being said, I'm very excited to hear this. I've always appreciated their mellow ambient tracks just as much has the big heavy ones.

Sorry it took me a couple days. I had to dig for this photo from 2013. Top left is the 3D puzzle that is pretty much what you'd expect after building it and the record is the 180-gram black. I miss that cap so much... There's some better pictures of it here that someone had from a sale that I just found a link to.

I have the Dr V which is just the same but not as fancy. But I personally spin it both ways 3-5 revolutions. It's about how many revolutions it takes to dry the solution off. May vary depending how humid your environment is. If you have a translucent record you can get a sense of how many times you need to turn it. Also I use an enzymatic cleaner which I scrub with a MOFI brush, I then leave on for about 1 min each side before the suction. Then I rinse with a spray bottle of distilled water then spin it the same revolutions as with washing. The only issue is that it can overheat if you wash a lot of records. Haven't let it get to that point tho. Mos def better than the spin clean any day.
If I had the cash, I would've invested in the pro-ject vce. If only for the convenience... but what's a few more hundred dollars, amirite? 😉
    Hope that helps 👍

That's awesome! Yeah agreed about Morgan, but it seems like Kaela holds it down pretty well too. I've watched live vids from the Junk tour and she seems great (especially with her on vocal duty for that song from the Oblivion soundtrack).

This quote from Anthony in the press release really makes me want to see them live again too - "I wanted this record to be very impactful live," he says. "The idea was to come back with something closer to the energy of Before The Dawn Heals Us. The combination of guitars and synths is always in my music, but it’s maybe more present on this new record than on the previous ones." Exciting stuff!

Can't wait to hear this. Always regretted skipping seeing them during the Junk tour, but saw them for the HUWD tour and loved it. Hopefully I can make it out to one of the shows this time.

I've been debating on getting a record cleaning machine for a few years now. I'd really like to have one, but unsure of what route to take. That Humminguru is intriguing. I'm worried about the center labels getting wet with those upright machines though (along with the Spin Clean). I'd like to get a vaccuum cleaner like the Okki Nokki or one of the Pro-Ject VC series, but they seem big and boxy. I'd be curious to see if anyone else has experience with these or other cleaning methods.

Love the shirt discussion. My favorites have been Next Level 60/40 shirts (code # N6210 according to the blanks I buy on Amazon). It seems like Bella Canvas shirts have slightly looser necks by default and stretch out easier. I like a well-fitted neck haha. Tultex has weird shapes sometimes too. Haven't bought a shirt printed on American Apparel in like a decade+ for some reason.

Surprisingly, I also really like Gildan ultra cotton longsleeve shirts too. I have multiple blanks of black and sport grey that I wear pretty often.

I remember in the mid-late 00's seeing bands splurge for printing on American Apparel instead of (most often cheaper) Gildan and just thinking those AA shirts were the greatest thing ever haha. I still remember the first one I bought was a Blood Brothers shirt in 2005 and I wore it all the time because it was so comfortable.

Someone should make a separate thread for shirt collections haha. I still have the majority of shirts I bought through the years (mostly Milwaukee/Midwest hardcore bands from the 00's). Some of them were really cool that I wish still fit.

Yeah, I gotta say the vinyl mastering on this is freakin' GREAT! I find the mix to be a bit heavy in the middle as in not panned very wide and maybe a bit too bassy for this style of music, but the mastering quality is phenomenal on my copy. I can't say enough good things about that.

Adam did an AMA on /r/indieheads yesterday (link here). In one response he said a deluxe edition coming at some point. In another response he said a 7" with Ocean Of Darkness and a b-side called Slow Ghost will be released in a few months. Hopefully that's part of the deluxe edition too. And in another post he said there's a 34-minute track called My Ocean Calls that they hope to release someday too!
