  1. I'm jelly on the Mogwai 10". We should be best friends. -- Just reserved a rare Bombay Bicycle Club 7" EP off a lovely girl off Discogs, something I really can't afford to miss out on. Shame I currently don't actually have the money to pay for it, have to wait until further on into the month to pay her. Anyone else get that amazing feeling when you finally find a rare record, and you know, ask someone to reserve it? Like, "holy fuck, hold that for me and I'll pay you eventually, cause, I WANT IT"...
  2. So my aunt from London came up to Manchester for New Years in a few days, and to see us all for Christmas and all, and she gave me a Christmas present. I wasn't expecting anything, but I opened it up to find she had bought me Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band - Shiny Beast on vinyl. My aunt has the best taste in music.
  3. Sad, because my Sigur Rós LP that I bought today is scratched and unlistenable on the first, and best, track. :( -- Also excited, as they're ordering in a new copy just for me.

  4. Went into town to a record shop called Vinyl Exchange and bought Bibio - The Apple And The Tooth for £15, bargain! That's about $25 for you US guys. Number 0902 / 1000, buzzing! Then headed to Piccadilly Records across the road, and my friend bought me Sigur Rós - Með Suð í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaus, £20 double LP! Was so awesome of her. But I was pretty upset, went to listen to it and turns out the best song on the album, and first song too, was jumping like crazy. I inspected my needle, and cleaned the record, and tried again, but it kept skipping. Upon looking at the record under lamplight, I saw a huge scratch down the first song. What a shame! I emailed them, and they said they would order in a copy just for me and save it until I could next go in store. Now that's what I call customer service! + 1 to Piccadilly Records
  5. I was looking for a forum where I could geek out with other collectors. Searched, and found this on Google
  6. The Middle East - The Recordings Of The Middle East (From my Brother) Bombay Bicycle Club - Beg [12" Single] - (From my gran! Go gran.) Lymbyc Systym - Symbolist (From me rents') A friend also ordered me Bibio - Ambivalence Avenue (double LP) but it hasn't shipped yet. I also ordered a ton of records with christmas money
  7. Listening to The Recordings Of The Middle East with headphones on, and playing video games. Bliss.

  8. For any UK fellas; Manchester, England Vinyl Exchange 18 Oldham Street Manchester Lancashire M1 J1N United Kingdom (http://www.vinylexchange.co.uk/) Excellent record shop that sells rare and 2nd hand records, CDs, dvds, posters, etc. Worldwide shipping on the online store, too, can find some great rares on there! The workers are very kind, and happily reserved a couple of records for me, free of charge! Definetely worth a visit if you're in the area. Also, right across the road from Vinyl Exchange; Piccadilly Records 53 Oldham Street Manchester M1 1JR United Kingdom (https://www.piccadillyrecords.com) This shop is great. Lot's and lots of awesome records in here, and once again the webstore is worldwide shipping. They're big Metronomy fans in here, and stock a lot of their stuff, some exclusives too. Found a few great rare Smiths records in there, and It's a regular spot for me.
  9. Ordered quite a bit today. I'd had a couple of people on Discgos reserve a few records for me until I had the money, which was really awesome of them. Anyway, here's what I ordered today. Discogs; Bibio - T.O.Y.S (Pink Vinyl, Ltd) Bibio - Excuses (Ltd, 10" Single) Bombay Bicycle Club - Dust On The Ground (Ordered this 7" cause it has my favourite b-side of all time on) Also got; Explosions In The Sky - All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone Bibio - Ambivalence Avenue (Single, not album) Heading into Vinyl Exchange (record shop in my town that sells rare and 2nd hand records), to pick up my reserved copy of Bibio - The Apple And The Tooth (Ltd remix album) Very happy with my recent purchases, I can tell you!
  10. The Middle East - The Recordings Of The Middle East (12" Mini-Album Edition) Bombay Bicycle Club - Beg (Ltd. 12" Single) Lymbyc Systym - Symbolyst (LP)
  11. Ahaha, alrighty I'll look into, thanks guys! I don't have the money for a spin clean right now, considering I'm about to bust out my christmas spends on all my current most-wanted records, but as soon as I do I'll invest in one! Right now I'm just uses a cotton cloth and careful wiping the dust away, but for older records I can see my needing to use cleaning fluids and all that jazz. Thanks again!
  12. So I am a little new to vinyl, but I'm in high spirits. My Dad was a DJ for over 30 years, and had a collection of over 3000+ records, that's he's slowly given away over the years. It was only recently that I got into collecting them, and It was a great deep sadness knowing that all those records he gave away could have been mine. To rub it in, he'd bought The White Album on original press twice, both numbered too. Both gone, probably with one of his old friends somewhere in the world. Point of this thread though is, and I've asked my old man about this as well, but, what's the best way to clean your records? I'm looking for both D.I.Y sollutions, and more in depth techniques. I don't really want to try the wood-glue method, I'm talking just simple cleaning, removal of dust and hairs that get in the grooves, stuff like that. If anyone has any methods, I would much appreciate it! Thanks
