    MASKXSOUL · ONEGIN CD | 12’’ | DIGITAL

MASKxSOUL is the new international project, featuring the baritone Alexander Korenkov (of Mariinsky Theatre, Theatre du Chatelet, and JFK Center fame, who performed with Vladimir Yurovsky, Valery Gergiev and Anton Batagov) and introducing the voice and music of Tatiana Selivanova (Vanilla Quartz), backed up by Jason Kohnen (The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, The Lovecraft Sextet, Mansur) and Dimitry El-Demerdashi (Mansur). One might say that MASKxSOUL blends dark-jazz, tsar punk, and Eastern folklore with the setting of the romantic landscapes inspired by the Russian classical tradition. MASKxSOUL presents a new vision of a perennial classic, namely, Eugene Onegin by Alexander Pushkin, a romantic novel in verse that has served generations of artists across the globe as inspiration, with a debut single dedicated to Pushkin's 222nd anniversary on June 6th 2022. The complete eight track MASKxSOUL debut album "Onegin" is available now through Denovali.

Makes me wonder (ha!) if some of the 3-year hold up was an issue with the studio about the cover art. The press release included a fake quote from Tom Hanks’ character so maybe they really wanted to make it look like a Wonders album. I could see the studio having some weird contract stipulation with the cast (or maybe just Hanks since he directed and is the biggest star) that their images have to be included with any media art, whether it’s the movie itself or the soundtrack. Out of all the cast images I’ve seen, the one Mondo chose seemed the most like an actual album cover as opposed to a soundtrack cover.

As of now, the only two divisions of the company that remain are the toys and records divisions. But insiders tell TheWrap it’s unclear how long those divisions will remain as part of the Funko portfolio.

feels like the way to go would be to do deluxe + standalone single album version LP for sought after, OOP cult classics like FSF or Southern Weather when it comes time for a (re)press. you've already got the plates and it's easy to order a few hundred extra jackets for a standard edition while you're making a boxset. though i'm sure it requires some tradeoffs (i.e. i'd be willing to bet having a standard edition available depresses deluxe sales in a way that UOV doesn't feel good about), why not attempt to do collector-minded editions (higher quality components, expensive deluxe editions) and fan-friendly ones at the same time?

    SUBHEIM · RAEON 12’’ | DIGITAL

After the highly acclaimed ΠΟΛΙΣ, Subheim returns with RAEON; a collection of eight new tracks for lonely evenings and long night drives.
With RAEON, Subheim continues to expand into the sonic territory he has steadily been exploring since 2015’s Foray, the album that marked the project’s shift towards moodier, highly textured, lofi compositions through the use of sampling and heavy audio manipulation. While this EP feels like a natural continuation of the producer’s most recent work, it is intentionally stripped of any percussive elements, with the focus being entirely placed on space and melody.
Each composition feels like a distant, fading memory that unfolds faster than you expect it to and dissolves into an echoing nothingness before you’re able to hold on to it for more than a few seconds. Much like a long-distance train passing by or perhaps like a song you might hear in your sleep.
Every piece serves as a different chapter of the same open-ended narrative; one where stillness, grief and hope simultaneously coexist in perfect harmony. Intentionally imperfect, naturally gritty, spacious as ever, this new record balances between fragility and conviction, and once more illustrates the deeply human side of its creator.
In contrast to some of the producer’s darker work, RAEON is filled with an undertone of bittersweet hopefulness and a strong desire for new life. With the juxtaposition of nostalgic, synthesized, analog sounds and neoclassical elements, Subheim strikes the perfect balance between past and future, between melancholy and hope. And while the closing track is almost ironically called “Forget”, its ending will leave you longing for more and wondering what else is there.

I'm not a huge fan of Elliott Smith, so not sure if this sounds like him...but after first listen I feel like Winter EP just sounds like some the most Weezer songs the bands put out since White album. Loved 'I Want a Dog' and 'Dark Enough to See the Stars' as well as 'The Deep and Dreamless Sleep'.
I feel like there's a really solid album if you essentially take the standouts from each EP.

In honor of the 20th anniversary of "Tennessee" we've re-pressed (& remastered!) the album for vinyl! The double LP was remastered by Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering with the vinyl lacquers cut by Jeff Powell at Take Out Vinyl. The LP includes an exclusive etching on side D and there are two different color options to choose from... a limited amount have been pressed on "clear smoke" colored wax and of course you can snag it on classic black wax too   But wait - there's more! We've dug through the archives and brought back an authentic Tennessee era design that's available as both a t-shirt & crewneck!   All just in time for the holidays! Our webstore is also now stocked with your favorite holiday classics (ornaments! beanies! holiday crewnecks! oh my!) as well as some leftover merchandise from the fall tour. Plus we've done some winter cleaning and discounted some holiday merch from years past.   Get your orders in my December 7th in order to guarantee in time for the holidays using regular shipping. Happy holidays y'all   Shop the store here: https://lucero.merchtable.com/
