As if picture discs weren't bad enough. That's a terrible photo of the band.

Just got an email from EasyStreet about the Weezer 10" for Africa disc I ordered from them this morning. Any of you guys heard about this? Just wanted to give you a heads up that the Weezer 10” picture disc of Africa was recalled across the country. Every record store in the country received warped copies. What kind of bullshit is it that this went on sale so early this morning? Seriously, I didn't see it until 7:30 central time while I was taking my morning dump right after I got up. West coast folks that were still in bed missing out on that /500 will be pissed...

I guess some of you guys missed there part where I said "Not saying what they did was right..."? I bought a copy of every edition that's been offered so far b/c I am a fan as well. And yet, I'm not all butthurt about it and cancelling my order out of principal or whatever. That's bullshit. Folks either wanted the gold because they collect SP or they didn't because they thought it was limited and might be worth something later or was planning to flip it right off the bat. To come into the thread and boohoo about what they did/didn't do (could have been bait/switch? could have been an honest error in the listing?) and state that you cancelled your order just screams that it was purchased under other pretenses. I don't give a shit though. I think it's hilarious! It's a $23 gold record I can add to my SP collection. Woo.

So let's see...you guys bought it because you wanted gold right? Noooo..it was because you thought you were sitting on a gold mine by getting one of 500? Not saying what they did was right, but do you guys actually listen to the music or just put the records away because you think you're gonna make money off them one of these days?

Some of us don't give a shit about compressed streams. Crazy huh? Further, I have multiple copies of this album already and yeah, I can listen to it anywhere at any time, but that doesn't mean everyone does, can, or prefers to. There's multiple reasons I could go on about wanting downloadable files, but I'm not going to bother here other than to say would it wouldn't kill the label to offer up some downloads as a lot of new releases do.

Got my Blue and Pinkerton colored copies a few days ago and just getting around to checking them out. Not impressed with these at all. Flimsy covers, paper sleeves, surface noise galore, and no download codes in this day and age is just stupid. Total cash-in but whatcha gonna do? Buy into it of course. You know, I don't have that one because it's not REM. I mean, it is...mostly...lol! It's kind of like picking up the Hindu Love Gods stuff or anything else outside of the core of REM: not on the top of my priority list, but definitely on the list. I have been eyeballing that one though. I should probably grab a copy before it gets hard to come by. I do have a copy of Documentary though. Second row from top, sixth one over.

It's been awhile since I played it, but IIRC, it's not acoustic. A few tracks are that are supposed to be (LMR, You Are The Everything, etc) but the rest is electric. It's by far the best looking picture disc REM bootleg (bright and colorful, but the design is a bit wonky) and actually sounds half decent for a picture disc. There's silence between the tracks though and has a "you're in the room" sound as if you're at the 40 Watt or something (no idea where this was recorded) with a hundred other people. BUT the sound is clear and bright and not muffled at all. Worth the purchase!

So...when Discogs started the slow process of killing off bootleg sales, I had a list made up of wants that I went through to finish off in a hurry knowing full well that it was going to be a bitch to get them by other means. The Drive pic disc was the last of my wants and they killed boots off before I could snag it! I eventually stumbled across one on ebay, which was odd, because I'd never seen one listed (and haven't since) and I check REM items on ebay constantly. And for fun, I thought I'd post this little gem as well. Another item I've not seen anywhere and can't find any information on either. An unplayable (it has no grooves) promo pic disc for Murmur.

That may have been me. I have (I think?) pretty much every REM bootleg on vinyl that I'm aware of. I have a few others since I took this pic and a few bootleg 7"s as well. The only thing I'm itching to get my hands on is the Finest Lunchbox and I can't seem to find a complete set in decent shape and I've been looking for years.

Huh. Well, after reading this, I had to bust out my two copies (I have a sealed and an open copy) and check the matrix on my open copy. Seems that I have at least one US copy and assume the other is as well because it says it was made in the USA anyway. Just gave it a spin, and it is a tad bit more veiled that I remember it being, but it's no slouch either. Now I want a German/EU copy to compare with. Hmmm...

My guess it's completely sold out because everyone busts nuts over Pinkerton. I ordered a copy, but haven't gotten any emails about it being cancelled.

Reminds me of L.A. Guns, but that's probably because I'm old AF.
