  1. I feel like they reached their peak on Because of the Times and fell off after that tour. Only By The Night was extremely over produced and an obvious attempt at commercial success. Then, Come Around Sundown was another attempt at being commercially successful, but it was a little less forced. I feel like this new album is gonna be a good mix of their old & newer stuff.
  2. No word on the quantity of the LTD edition version yet. I would assume it's in the ballpark of 1,000.

Gone is the swamp-thing snarl. In its place, the indestructible cool of the casino slot-jockey with nothing to lose." All preorder LPs will be on limited colored vinyl (clear with blue/red swirl), and all preorders will receive an official Jacuzzi Boys patch and postcard, while they last! All LPs include a download code. Please note, all preorders (and anything ordered with them) won't ship until early September. http://www.hardlyart.com/shop/jacuzziboys.html

  9. The new Girls Names album is out on Slumberland. They still have the LTD edition clear vinyl in stock, so pick them up while you can: http://www.slumberlandrecords.com/catalog/show/246?ret=catalog
  10. There's actually two singles out: https://soundcloud.com/bornruffians/with-her-shadow https://soundcloud.com/bornruffians/needle
  11. Paper Bag Records has just put up the pre-order for the new Born Ruffians album on 180gram pink vinyl. The band also agreed to sign all the pre-orders. Pretty decently priced at $18 and it comes with the album on CD. The only downside is the $10 shipping because it's coming from Canada, but all their releases are solid. Get 'em while they're in stock. http://shop.paperbagrecords.com/products/birthmarks
  12. Just ordered. Been trying to track this one down on colored vinyl for awhile.
  13. I did listen to it several times. I have a promo copy of the album.
  14. Saw them in ATL with Wild Nothing, and in NYC when I played CMJ. They're good on the record, but even better live. Their heaviest influence is Neu!, so if you like experimental/jammy/krautrock bands, you'll like them.
  15. Was gonna buy this when the pre-order went up, but it's nowhere near as good as their first album =(
  16. Talked to my local record shop. They are getting in both the Echo & The Bunnymen re-release of Crocodiles and the Jesus and Mary Chain Psychocandy re-release. I live in Savannah, GA btw.
  17. Yeah. The first time I listened to this album I was really not into it, but I think it was primarily because I was expecting it to sound pretty close to the clean simplistic style that the debut and EP had. My biggest issue at first was the vocal mixing, because it seemed like they were so far back in the mix (especially when compared to the older stuff.) But, now that I've listened to this album about a million times, I really love it. It still has the catchiness of the last few releases, but it is much more reflective of their live sound. I always like when bands go in a new direction, it's just hard to make the transition into that stuff if it's a drastic change from their previous material.
  18. It is highly possible that they botched some of the orders. I've had a few issues with them before where someone who was new either didn't ship my order or sent it to the wrong address. Then when the records came, stuff was missing and the stuff that came wasn't the right version. Took awhile to get it all worked out, but they were pretty accommodating. Keep in mind that they're an indie label and have a very small crew of people working for them, but they're getting more and more popular and have to try to keep up with the demand.
  19. You don't by chance have the portable ION turntable do you? That one in particular is notorious for its failing belt drive. I actually purchased one a few years back and noticed the issue. After doing a ton of research on it, apparently the problem has been acknowledged by ION and they will allow you to send it in for a replacement. But, according to several users who did that, the replacement does the same thing after a short period of time. I just ended up returning mine to Amazon and putting that money towards a different turntable.
