  1. This reads like the biggest self-serving/hype my new release "op ed" i've ever read. Sweet traffic generator bro! I don't see a single mention of Hot Topic in any of these back and forth posts. They are the #1 perpetrators in all of this and nobody bats an eyelash. But homeboy sells a lot of records through Hot Topic, so let's not talk about them!
  2. This is up on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CP4GSGO/ref=pe_309540_26725410_item
  3. Looks like Amazon just put this up for pre-order. http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Darkness-Various-Artists/dp/B00CA4S43O/ref=tmm_vnl_title_0
  4. Amazon put some 30 second clips up, hard to tell what the songs are like. But there are some awesome parts for sure. http://www.amazon.com/Oblivion-Original-Motion-Picture-Soundtrack/dp/B00BV8SKU2/ref=tmm_other_meta_binding_title_0
  5. This looks like someone just took the file from the cd and just scaled them up to LP size in indesign, instead of actually going in and doing it the right way in photoshop.
  6. This is getting a pressing on Vinyl. http://www.unifiedmanufacturing.com/2013/02/unified-manufacturing-universal-studio-soundtrack-cd-and-vinyl-record-for-sci-fi-film-oblivion/ Can't wait!
  7. My guess is licensing costs on this stuff is causing the price increase. majors know they can make money on this and are probably charging stupid amounts to license this. Cost of printed goods on this are insane. Triple gatefold with custom die cuts to fit the 7" on reverse cardboard, inserts for the 12" and all 3 7", and 3 full color pocket jackets. 180 gram vinyl on the 12" and 3x colored 7". Sorry to burst all the cry babies bubble here, but this shit has to be costing a fortune to make. I don't even want to know the labor involved in getting all this crap put together either.
  8. ::newsflash:: almost all re-releases put out by major labels aren't backed by the artist. film at 11
  9. I don't see why everyone is having a fit and falling it in over this release. You honestly think the re-releases from hot-topic are all "artist approved"? There are army's of lawyers that look over this stuff, it wouldn't be put out if it wasn't legal. The label owns the masters, probably spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on the band. The band broke up, barely toured and probably are in the hole to the label for a ton. if the re-release is done right, sounds great and is done well, what's the problem? There has been an insane demand for all of their releases on vinyl for years, it's their own fault for not capitalizing on it themselves. Also, there is no way you can "flatten" a record and have it be fine, it screws it up permanently.
