  1. I am not hating Dark Matter. Some folks are bitching and moaning that it sounds too polished and shiny. I'm kinda feeling the opposite. It feels leaner and more guitar-driven record with some nice and tasty riffs going on. And Ament's basslines are just sweet sweet on some of the songs. But I do feel there's a bit of an inconsistency on where the record wants to go. Does it want to rock out more like Vs. and Vitalogy or get more melodic & soft like Lightning Bolt and even the Into The Wild soundtrack? In any event...I'm enjoying it a lot more than LB and even Gigaton.
  2. On initial listen...I'm feeling conflicted. There are a few moments & parts of songs where I was excited...but overall, as a total sum of its parts, the album feels middle of the road and more of the same. Nothing groundbreaking that would make me feel...
  3. Well. This is my plea for help. My store is doing wristband time slots again & by the time I remembered to request, it was late and I got at 10:30am slot. What I really really really want will likely be gone if they get any. So. If anyone can be on lookout and help me snag Malfunkshun and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, I’d be forever grateful. Please & thank you.
  4. Wisp now have physical copies of her Pandora EP. Vinyl and signed CD. https://www.musicbywisp.com/#/
  5. AVAILABLE NOW! “Boundary Problems” by Time Pieces is a sprawling and intimate love letter to Midwestern indie. This version is the special “Mind Over Matter Edition” which features colored vinyl and a deluxe, reverseboard jacket. It’s so incredibly emotive and this vinyl pressing is limited to only 105 hand-numbered copies. These are available right now and will be shipping in the next week! Time Pieces | Boundary Problems (mindovermatterrecords.com)
  6. I think my Target edition shipped. I’m ok with that one.
  7. Coke Bottle Clear of Sumac's The Healer up on their BC now... The Healer | SUMAC (bandcamp.com) And noticed on Thrill Jockey's site too: The Healer (thrilljockey.com)
  8. To be 100% honest...it sounds the same. I don't hear much of a difference. But also my Tinnitus has been acting up more than usual due to continued stress at home and work, so that's not helping much.
  9. Well. My copy arrived today Sunday. Nice surprise. It’s in perfect shape. I’m glad they put the records in poly-lined paper sleeves so not to damage the printed ones. Nice touch. And the resealable plastic sleeve is nice & thick. So far I’d say I’m impressed with IVC. I’ll re-up for Helmet’s Betty.
  10. Also in that vein...and adjacent to Nothing and Whirr...check out Wisp. She does some fuzzed out heavy shoegaze.
  11. Sorry…Nothing’s BC page: https://nothing.bandcamp.com/album/whirr-nothing
  12. The Whirr/Nothing split reissue will be up on Funeral Party’s Bandcamp at 12am PST / 3am EST Friday morning.
  13. My copy should arrive next week. I guess I may have ordered much later than everyone else. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  14. I find it curiously funny that when the whole WHIRR “cancellation” happened, G.L.O.S.S. were riding high for a hot minute and then almost overnight just faded to be never heard from again. And yet, WHIRR didn’t really get cancelled as they still played shows, albeit very few, and put out new stuff, and from the looks of things, are still popular. Weird how that all played out.
  15. That explains why the article just meandered and repeated itself throughout.
  16. Shipping notification for NIN already?!?!? I will take it!
  17. I read this piece...although it's hella long...that addresses in part on why WHIRR are still popular and whatnot even when they were "cancelled" back when. It has some interesting points, but as I said...it's long. On Whirr and Navigating Canceled Bands in Canon (elienis.com)
  18. Pulled the trigger on the NIN. Why not.
  19. That was probably me on The Veronicas. They’re trying to crack into the U.S. market a bit more nowadays. The free shipping is cool & they only did two variants in their webstore. What’s funny they was pointed is that Billie’s last album had 8 variants. But I get what she’s saying about the excessiveness by other major artists.
