  1. I don't know how many of you follow the financial markets but the stock market both in the US and abroad has been abysmal this year. China is in economic free fall and oil prices have collapsed. New housing starts surprisingly dropped in December. And there's always a level of uncertainty in an election year without an incumbent. A lot of people are predicting a 2008-like economic recession. I don't know if these people are right or wrong (I dare not guess myself) but if we really do enter another "Great Recession" do you think the current state or vinyl collecting can keep up? I mean an environment where $30 single LPs is practically the norm, $40 reissues or cult soundtracks litter the landscape and every year (twice a year) Record Store Day does what it does. Throw in flippers, record collecting subscription services, Urban Outfitters & Barnes and Noble exclusives and you get what I mean. Just curious what fellow VC folks think...
  2. Do you know if it showed in stock on the site for that location, or is the inventory system not matching up...? None by me have shown it in stock in days so I assume it isn't worth looking, but maybe I should stop in.
  3. How can there be, like, a dozen TV shows about storage lockers and not a single one where a team of experts busts fake/counterfeit online auctions? I'd watch that in a heartbeat...
  4. Not to defend the guy, but there were plenty of metallic markers around before Sharpie did it.
  5. "Dear __________ Thanks for contacting eBay! Did you know you can list 99 auctions this January for just 1 penny a piece?? Thanks for being a valued member of the eBay community!"
  6. If the theory that he's money laundering is correct, why be so sneaky with the "some writing on it" line? The listings are so calculated - the wording, the selection of artists, the way he never trips up and offers something that was issued posthumously with a supposed signature on it - I just can't help but think it's someone who's well aware of what he's doing.
  7. But no, you see, it has a little square piece of paper that says "Test Pressing" taped onto the white sleeve. Are you calling the little square piece of paper a liar?
  8. Does anyone know if they're going to make a note when the tri-color is gone, or are you just taking your chances and you may get it but could end up with white?
  9. Name me a record store where you can sip Starbucks while reading Mojo and browsing Game of Thrones bobble heads.
  10. If only you mentioned the MBA in the first post, you'd have been treated with the respect you deserve.
  11. We need some Bernie Sanders action so we Americans can have socialized postal rates.
  12. How else are you supposed to hang it on the wall??
  13. I think what happened was just that their last shred of genuine indie dignity died before they completed their full transformation into a Urban Outfitters music department clone.
  14. Yup, I get it. Didn't realize that first pic was cropped. That's rough. Looking at the packaging and knowing the shipping weight, I can't imagine this will be isolated to just you...
  15. Anyone going for the second round of Marvel prints? Unfortunately, I think the ones I like best visually are all for characters I have little or no interest in.
  16. As someone else pointed out, his feedback seems to be in huge clumps from specific accounts, sometimes many dozens of positives from the same buyer at the same time. Looks like clear manipulation of the feedback system.
  17. If he was really smart he'd throw up an Ian Curtis autographed Ideal For Living and pull down six figures. Though the idea that he'd deface an original with his chicken scratches is sad, indeed.
  18. Yup, I looked at every listing trying to catch him and he's smart. The reissues are all sans-Lennon. Even the recent Doors stuff doesn't have Morrison.Though I must add, it's crazy to think he's trying to push the idea he has four Kurt Cobain autographs...
  19. That is insane! And most of them have bids!! The worst part is, some of this stuff will get bought and then go back out into the general population as those buyers slowly sell them off as genuinely signed, not knowing any better. Probably the best case to not bother buying anything that's supposedly "autographed" unless you saw the person signing it in front of you...
  20. I can see how you'd confuse pics of the box set with pics of your wang since they're both 90% off! (So sorry, I couldn't help myself...)
