Secret Santa lives on!
 
A couple days ago there was a package from Bullmoose at my door. I haven't ordered a record in a long time so I was a bit confused. Turns out it was another record from my Secret Santa. He told me in the letter that it was coming, and it still caught me off guard
 
It was a copy of Unwritten Law's self titled. I listened to this band a ton when I was a teenager, so this was a cool blast from the past.

it was me, im glad you liked everything! dont forget that there is still one more package that should arrive within the next month or two(?) whenever the pre order ships. 

I ended up waiting until christmas to open my gift. Here it is! It was a gigantic package, and first thing inside was a nice handwritten note. 
 

 
Inside were some individually wrapped gifts. I started with the 7" mailer.
 

 
Inside were two Pearl Jam singles that I didn't have yet, a signed Menzingers single (!),  a Horror section EP, and a single by Nothington. 
 

 
Inside the 12" mailer was a "Jungle Love single by The Time, and album by Sundowner, and a greatest hits album from David Bromberg. 
 

 
There was also a boatload of stickers and CDs!
 

 
And finally, in the last present was a die cast miniature of a BMW K1300S motorcycle. I'll be taking it tow work to put on my desk with my other miniatures, because I'm just a big child. Haha.
 
My Secret Santa said in the note that the Menzingers are local for him, so that narrows my Santa down to Philadelphia.  My Santa must have been ozfacter! Thanks so much dude, you nailed it! It was a good mix of stuff I love and stuff I haven't listened to yet. I've heard good things about the Menzingers for years, but have never listened to them. I was spinning that single yesterday and loved it. I'll be digging deeper into their discography for sure now. I haven't had a chance to listen to everything else yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Thanks again!

My name is Jared. I'm 27 and I live in Salt Lake City. 
 
I'm into all sorts of music. I love 90s indie (labels like Elephant 6, UP, etc), shoegaze, stoner/doom metal, folk/americana (especially with female vocals),  post rock, ambient, Electronic, post-punk, jazz, and everything in between. Some of my favorite bands are Pavement, Built to Spill, The Radio Dept., Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Mogwai, Low, Radiohead, Ty Segall, The Microphones/Mount Eerie,  Melvins, Jason Isbell, Eagle Twin, LCD Soundsystem,  Wilco, Guided by Voices, Earth, Neil Young, and many more. As for other activities, I'm a big car/motorcycle guy. I love anything vintage European and Japanese. Someday, I'd love to restore a BMW 2002 and build a custom cafe racer style bike (out of an old BMW airhead or Honda CB). It's just a pipe dream for now though. I go to a lot of car meets/cruises/shows with my brother in his 78 Classic Mini (the link isn't his car, but you get the idea). I also help friends work on their cars. It's a fun hobby. I haven't been buying many records lately because all my money is going toward building a sleeper BMW M3 sedan. Here's a link documenting the build, if you're into cars and want to give it a read.
 
I haven't been a lot in the last few years, but I love snowboarding in the winter. I'm hoping to make it up the mountain a lot more in the coming months. I go to a ton of shows. I average about two or three a week. I love traveling for shows when I can. I try to make a trip over to Red Rocks every summer. I'm hoping to travel more often.  Whenever I'm somewhere new, I try and stop by a record store and ask the clerk for some local band recommendations. I love buying cool local music. Maybe you could include some of your favorite local bands or maybe your band if you're in one. 
 
Like any other young adult, play video games (PS4/Xbox One/Nintendo Switch) and watch a lot of movies/TV. Some favorite shows are Arrested Development, Orphan Black, The Good Place, The IT Crowd, Danger 5, 30 Rock, Stranger Things, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Silicon Valley, etc. 
 
I'm not super picky, so I'm sure I'll love whatever I'm given. Thanks!

Merry Cringemas, I made a video.
I was going to post pictures as is usual, but I had such a visceral reaction to the magic fish that I felt it needed to be documented. Unfortunately, I had obviously already seen it at that point but the rest is live. It was all opened Christmas night. I still don't know what a "false" fortune means, as every other option makes sense on its own except for that one, but so is life I suppose. 
My Santaman is very obviously Jared @Youinreverse this year, and I can NOT thank you enough. As is clear in the video, I am super lucky to have had you as a match this time around and you went above and beyond with your generosity. I'm not picky about my music, but I am a super weirdo and can only listen to certain types of music at certain times of year. Because of this, some records I haven't gotten to yet (this is a very jazzy time of year), but I am already OBSESSED with the Kamasi Washington record. What a fantastic choice that was, and I'm loving how classic and beautiful the Thelonious Monk record sounds as well. I have sampled the Built to Spill records (I quite like what I heard, a very different sounding band than what I had conjured up in my mind) and I will listen to them in February/March, as that seems a great time of year for them. My friend Shazo will hold me to it. You really knocked it out of the park with some spectacular picks and I am so appreciative. Hope you had a Merry Christmas, and have a great new year my friend

Just got home. Seriously, @themeconspiracy, you killed it. Everything came wrapped nicely with little notes on everything. Sorry that I wasn't the easiest person to shop for with my weird music tastes and no trade list... I really appreciate the thought and care you put into everything!!

Manchester City F.C. "CITY!!!! *CLAP CLAP CLAP* MANCHESTER CITY!!!" this is so fucking cool, I can't even. The company I work for has a large office over in Manchester, so when I visited last year, I caught a football match at Etihad Stadium and they played these songs. So cool!!!!!

The National - Trouble Will Find Me; I actually haven't listened to this one. I'm late to The National, and I must have skipped over this one between 'High Violet' and 'Sleep Well Beast'. Excited to check it out!!!!
Empires - Freshwater Reflection; listening to this now and it's up my alley, post-metal moreso than ambient, but I need that scratch itched pretty regularly so it'll get a lot of plays
And for the kiddos, a couple Charlie Brown records, and The Alvin Show. Will have to play these for them this weekend! They always get excited when I play records for them, but I haven't really played any "kids" music. Awesome!
 
Miscellaneous
Coffee + Twin Peaks coffee mug; Since I travel so much, I always try to find local coffee wherever I go, so I'm really excited to try this. The mug is epic. My wife opened everything for me via FaceTime since I was out of town and could smell the coffee as soon as she opened the box. Which leads to the next one...
Edit: Just tried the Guatemalan and it's superb. Ground it up a little finer for espresso and made a bomb ass latte--maybe not Dale Cooper approved, but it's damn fine. Might try the Holiday for cold brew!! 
Record cat toy; my damn cats both jumped up on the kitchen table as soon as the box was opened because they could smell the catnip!! Couldn't figure out why at first! They're both playing with it now. My younger kitty just keeps licking it, and my older kitty looks strung out:

 
Astros World Series poster; really appreciate this. I got a copy of the Houston Chronicle from the day after they won the series, and I think this would look really cool framed up next to that. Winning the World Series was so big for this city after Hurricane Harvey. My family and I luckily weren't physically affected, but I know several people that lost everything and are still displaced. Sappy I know, but it really means a lot.

I got mine in a while ago, but I just opened it after Christmas. I got a sick Milo Goes to College patch,Batman Cacophony (which is awesome, because I love Batman and Kevin Smith), and American Slang by Gaslight Anthem. All wrapped in that awesome cassette wrapping paper. By process of elimination I think Marc was my SS? Thanks so much!

First gift was a Hot Wheels BMW 2002. It's one of my dream cars. I'd love to restore one some day. This is now proudly sitting parked at my desk with a few other cars so I can daydream.
 

 
Next is an issue of Iron & Air magazine. Technically, it's a magazine, but it's super nice quality. It's about a half inch thick and bound like a book. I've flipped through it and it looks really cool. I'm excited to dive in more.
 

 
Third present is a little Honda keychain. This is definitely going on my set of motorcycle keys. 
 

 
Next is a couple of Jack White/White Stripes singles. I've got a ton of Third Man stuff, and my Santa managed to find a couple that I didn't already have. Nice!
 

 
And finally, a tri color copy of Turnover's first album. I asked for some local bands to be included, and this was the one my Santa chose, so they must be from Virginia. I haven't heard this album yet, but I loved Peripheral Vision, so I'm sure this is going to be awesome.

Glad you liked everything man! I went for an earlier Turnover just incase you had heard Peripheal before, so I'm glad I did! I noticed you had a bunch of White Stripes and Jack White and saw those at my local shop so figured they'd be a nice add in.
