I wasn't yawning, I was yelling YAWN! Because your insistence that Mondo variants aren't worth it is boring!

I'm saying, who cares what variants people do or don't want haha.

    Word. I also expect this.

But, for real, I want to listen to it. I half-expect this to never show up because I want it so badly.

I bump every couple of weeks. It's semi annoying because I see the same items in the discogs email every day from the same sellers.

All in all, it doesn't really matter. You get 1 email whether it's ten items or 1 item.

    Got mine today! Here's a pic: http://instagram.com/p/fdj3bNhpQo/

    Some initial thoughts:

-Setting this up was stupidly easy.  Granted, I've never put a turntable together out of the box before, but I expected more assembly than this.  Just put the platter and slipmat on, put the belt around it, plug stuff in, and play.  I don't know for sure if the counterweight was set up perfectly out of the box or not (I'd appreciate some advice on how to tell), but it seems fine to me so far.  No skips or anything yet.
-My first impression of the sound is that it's really good.  Comparable to my Technics SL-QD33, at least, and far better than my ex-girlfriend's Crosley and the Denon DP-29 at my friends' place.  This is definitely a cut above the cheap stuff.
-Plays well on both speeds.  No weird pitch wobbling or anything so far
-It does sort of bug me that the platter doesn't stop spinning when the arm is in its clip, but I don't know if that's a standard thing or not.
-This is my first experience with a table where I've had to manually change the belt to a different part of the spool.  I don't mind it too much, but the belt feels a little fragile to my fingers.  Again, maybe that's normal.
-I wish I could actually A/B this with a Carbon to give people some better feedback on that comparison.
-I wonder how many times I can listen to the A side of this Pet Symmetry 7" on each turntable for comparison's sake before my housemates wonder what I'm doing.
-It's nice and heavy.  Doesn't feel cheap or plasticky in any way.

Disclaimer: I don't claim to have a trained ear for this stuff in any way.

The rest of my setup, for reference:
    Nad 7140 Receiver
    Technics SH80-57 graphic EQ
    Boston HD5 speakers

Feel free to ask any questions you have, and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.

    I bought it for $400.
I didn't appreciate everyone telling this guy to put it on eBay, so I gave a stupid amount.
You are to blame. You all have to live with this. I'll see you in hell.

No - he expects that the seller already has a number in mind. How is a buyer supposed ot know what a "lowball" is if the seller gives no indication of his desired price?  He's obviously not looking to hook somebody up, since he is in dire need of cash and selling one of the most sought after records on this site.

Either put up a price, or put it on ebay. There are easier ways than saying "Send me your offers" No one is going to offer $500. Asking for offers is going to yield you just as many $100 offer PMs as "How much are you looking for?" PMs. He's not going to sell it for $100. So just say you want $250 or $300 or whatever the number is.

I don't think you know what inference means.. but anyway...

I have no problem with people asking for offers. And that's great that he was kind to you when you lowballed him. But that's not the issue I'm addressing, you must realize that?

Refusing to answer "How much are you looking for?" PMs is my issue... If he knew enough to know that your offer was a lowball, then he knows enough of a range of what he is looking for. So take the least you'd want, add $50 to it and put that price up.  You'll make a sale a lot faster with people offering $50 less than your asking price than you will with people blindly guessing with absolutely no guidelines...

EDIT: It really doesn't matter, and I hope you're not mad, because I am not. People can sell their personal property any way they would like, and there's nothing you or I can say about it to change that. I was just offering my two cents.

Long post coming, maybe this will help some people understand.

Realtalk, the problem isn't trolling. The problem is that you are saying buying 2 copies and getting at least 1 variant is HIGHLY PROBABLE. The words HIGHLY PROBABLE are key here. They imply a chance of more than 75% minimum which is what's making people disagree with you, because it's not based on numbers, but simply "10 people I know did this, and it worked, so it must be true"

Let's consider 4 possible variant distribution ratios: 25%, 33%, 40% and 50%. My bet is on 33%, but I might be wrong, so let's do the math for all 4. Again, the chance of getting a variant when you open each copy you get is always the same. What changes is the likeliness of getting at least one variant the more copies you open.

If the distribution ratio is 25% , the chances of getting at least one variant when buying 2 copies are 43.75%. Buying 3 copies gives you  57.81250%.

If the distribution ratio is 33%, the chances of getting at least one variant when buying 2 copies are 55.11% . Buying 3 copies gives you  69.92370%.

If the distribution ratio is 40%, the chances of getting at least one variant when buying 2 copies are 64%. Buying 3 copies gives you 78.4%

If the distribution ratio is 50%, the chances of getting at least one variant when buying 2 copies are 75%. Buying 3 copies gives you 87.5%

So you can indeed say that, if the distribution ratio is 50%, the chances of getting at least one variant when buying 2 copies are HIGHLY LIKELY. Anything less than that and your wording of “HIGHLY PROBABLE” is wrong.

TLDR: Chances of getting at least one variant :
    Variant ratio 25% :          2 copies = 44%                  3 copies = 58%
    Variant ration 33%:        2 copies = 55%                  3 copies = 70%
    Variant ratio 40% :          2 copies = 64%                  3 copies = 78%
    Variant ratio 50% :          2 copies = 75%                  3 copies = 87%

You seem to think that I have more than 1 account and that if so that somehow makes me a coward? If I had one account you'd know me more intimately?
    Nonsense.
You still are seeming to care a lot about me... why do you (and others) need to give me so much (unwanted) attention? I'm not asking for this.
I'm also regularly accused of trolling. Was I trolling here? No. Just trying to share that you are highly likely to get a variant if you order 2. When I try to back myself up or if I call people out on conjecture, misinformation or try to clarify, I'm often accused of trolling. I'm used to that.
Often the same people who I've had disagreements with in the past are the ones bring it up over and over again, while I have moved on.
Again, haters can please and thank you post in the Official Hate-on RealTalk thread.
