Giving away MF Doom Operation: Doomsday vinyl by lottery
The Vinyl Word replied to The Vinyl Word's topic in Sale/Trade/Wants
Hi all. Random draw winner of the MF Doom is attackconquer. Thanks to all for entering! We've limited the contests on VC to the records we thought this community would most want (in general), the ATDIs and MF Doom, maybe one more. We put the more "pop" stuff like Beach House and The xx up on reddit, and the more obscure and less popular stuff on Twitter and Facebook. Sorry to those that see the new VC users as a nuisance. VC is such a great site for people to know about though, hopefully some of these noobs will use it for more than contests. Oh, and we recognize the irony that we are using it for contests, but a few of us at TVW have personal VC accounts as well! Thanks! -

Hello Vinyl Collective, I'm giving away 3 ATDI records, one each to a different person for the cost of shipping. All of the records are open but still in shrink wrap. Perfect condition, never been played. Comment with which ONE of these 3 records you want, and I'll pick someone randomly for each. All of these are reissues. Acrobatic Tenement - red vinyl In/Casino/Out - clear vinyl Vaya - white vinyl Thanks!

It seems as though I will be relocating soon, which means I need to purge my record collection of stuff I don’t want to move. I was thinking it would be cool to give some away via our blog. Since we’ve used Twitter, Facebook, Vinyl Collective, and r/vinyl to promote the blog, we’re going to use those same resources to get the word out and host the contests. ALL giveaways will be announced via Twitter, so be sure to follow us to find out where to enter each contest. https://twitter.com/TheVinylWord I put together a preliminary list of 30 records below. Some of these we will give away as pairs or sets, so definitely more records will be added to this list (but none will be taken away!). Some are sealed, some were opened only to photograph, some have been played once. These details will be given for each contest. YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR SHIPPING, so keep that in mind. International entries will be accepted, but shipping will be expensive. Radiohead – In Rainbows MF Doom – Operation Doomsday Daughn Gibson – All Hell Joyce Manor – Of All Things (orange vinyl) The Walkmen – Lisbon Purity Ring – Shrines (green vinyl) Rilo Kiley – The Execution of All Things Daughter – His Young Heart 10” At the Drive-In – In Casino Out (clear vinyl) At the Drive-In – Acrobatic Tenement (red vinyl) At the Drive-In – Vaya 10” (white vinyl) Tanlines – Mixed Emotions The xx – Coexist (deluxe edition) The xx – xx Sigur Ros – Varud 10” Fucked Up – Bruises 12” Bitchin Bajas – Tones/Zones Casiotone for the Painfully Alone – Twinkle Echo Feist – Let it Die Spiritualized – Ladies & Gentlemen We are Floating Beach House – Beach House Beach House – Devotion Paul Simon – Graceland Grizzly Bear – Shields Mike Watt – Hyphenated Man (yellow vinyl) LCD Soundsystem – This is Happening (signed copy) Nite Jewel – One Second of Love (white vinyl) Memoryhouse – Caregiver 7” (white vinyl) Memoryhouse – Lately 7” (blue vinyl) Warpaint – Exquisite Corpse (Manimal black vinyl)

Thanks, that's very much appreciated! It's motivating to hear positive feedback. We can deal with the occasional negativity, but it's the silent majority that makes it hard to do what we're trying to do for them. Can't believe only 2 people are vying for a signed LCD Soundsystem record. Live and learn. We conclude the majority favor random lotteries.

I don't know why we're even bothering to answer messages from people that are hating on us for no reason, but of course we want people to visit our blog. Why would we bust our ass trying to find good content for other fans of vinyl in our free time for no money to not have anyone read the blog? Why would we work hard to get a celebrity like James Murphy, who has 1000s of fans that would cherish having a signed copy of one of his records, to help us out if we didn't care about giving people a reason to care about our blog? If you don't want the record and you don't care about the blog, why do you bother to comment?
