Is there a trick to playing the jacket?

I had two free tickets, but couldn't find anyone else that wanted to go, so I just gave my second one to a rando outside the venue. Twas a pretty good show.

I ordered 30 but only 22 shipped.

I grabbed one and Im not even a GJ fan. If it actually goes through I will be checking out this album for the first time. Fingers crossed for a super cheap album!

Honestly, I really don't care how this ends up. Whether it's clear or black wax, it's better than the noisy copy I currently own. And if they go back on their price and change it to something unreasonable, then I'll cancel. Incredibly low risk, in my opinion.

Had to go with the red because my OCD wouldn't let me have two Thrice records on clear wax w/ blue splatter. But I'll admit as sharp as the red looks, the blue is the better looking variant. Basically looks the same as the Botch WATR repress.

Yeah, when I saw them back on a tour they did with Baroness there were pulling that shit and I haven't been to a Mastodon show since.  Two of the guys are from the town I'm from (where they were playing) so, to do that in your own home town where people know you makes it even worse in my opinion. I still love those dudes, and I still pick up their albums at reasonable prices when I can. But I can't abide that kind of price gouging.

I love Mastodon, but if you're gonna sign your records, don't modify the pricetag. That is serious flipper-esque bullshit. Good thing the only thing I'm considering picking up tonight is some Gojira wax if the price is right.

I'm agreeing and disagreeing with this. Yes, progressive music is usually conceptually-based, but most people associate progressive music with a certain degree of experimental and complex sound. If prog is only a unified theme, then anyone that does a concept record is prog. And I didn't say that it was more progressive than Crack the Skye, simply that those two had more of a progressive metal feel to them than Remission and Leviathan. But that's just, like, my opinion, man.

Without a doubt "Hearts Alive" is the best song Mastodon has ever done.

What comes to mind when i see this is the last RED FANG record. Had that album been reasonably priced, it probably would have either sold out, or sold much more of the edition. However, because of the fancy cover and increased price, almost every single variant is still available to buy to date.  The price just alienates the band because no ones wants to be robbed by a record labels high prices. The band is the one that ends up taking the flack from the high price also. The justification of "it has a holographic cover" or it has a "lithograph inside" doesn't change the price in the eyes of the fans. it still is viewed as a $50 record in red fangs case, and a $70 record in Mastodons case. Just because a band has fans doesn't mean they will pay absurd amounts for a record. I think labels need to learn from the red fang disaster and price records reasonably. Also this is just my opinion and not a fact, so be gentle.

Say I'm working at the N.S.A. Somebody puts a code on my desk, something nobody else can break. Maybe I take a shot at it and maybe I break it. And I'm real happy with myself, 'cause I did my job well. But maybe that code was the location of some rebel army in North Africa or the Middle East. Once they have that location, they bomb the village where the rebels were hiding and fifteen hundred people that I never met and that I never had no problem with get killed. 
 
Now the politicians are sayin', "Send in the marines to secure the area" 'cause they don't give a shit. It won't be their kid over there, gettin' shot. Just like it wasn't them when their number was called, 'cause they were pullin' a tour in the National Guard. It'll be some kid from Southie takin' shrapnel in the ass. And he comes home to find that the plant he used to work at got exported to the country he just got back from. And the guy who put the shrapnel in his ass got his old job, 'cause he'll work for fifteen cents a day and no bathroom breaks. 
 
Meanwhile he realizes the only reason he was over there in the first place was so we could install a government that would sell us oil at a good price. And of course the oil companies used the skirmish over there to scare up domestic oil prices. A cute little ancillary benefit for them but it ain't helping my buddy at two-fifty a gallon. They're takin' their sweet time bringin' the oil back, and maybe even took the liberty of hiring an alcoholic skipper who likes to drink martinis and fuckin' play slalom with the icebergs, and it ain't too long 'til he hits one, spills the oil and kills all the sea life in the North Atlantic.
 
 So now my buddy's out of work and he can't afford to drive, so he's walking to the fuckin' job interviews, which sucks 'cause the schrapnel in his ass is givin' him chronic hemorroids. And meanwhile he's starvin' 'cause every time he tries to get a bite to eat the only blue plate special they're servin' is North Atlantic scrod with Quaker State. So what did I think? I'm holdin' out for somethin' better. 
 
I figure, fuck it, while I'm at it, why not just shoot my buddy, take his job and give it to his sworn enemy, hike up gas prices, bomb a village, club a baby seal, hit the hash pipe and join the National Guard? I could be elected president.
