  1. My copy of ghosts is so bloody noisy through the first and part of the second track its not funny. Sounds like non-fill to me. Going to give it a clean tomorrow with the spin clean and if it doesn't fix it this is going back to amazon. Not impressed. Bummer as the vinyl looks great and is super flat. Everyone elses comments leave me thinking it may not be worth getting a replacement copy.
  2. This makes me so excited. Parquet Courts are easily my favourite band of the last 5 years or so. Something about that first record just scratches an itch for me.
  3. My copy of loveless arrived today. Couldn't really give it a good spin as it is fairly warped (trackable but lots of pumping going to the speakers and pretty unsightly). Needless to say it is going back, all the way from New Zealand ahaha. Expect my next copy won't get here for another 2 months or so. Easily the slowest shipping for the highest price I have ever experienced. Cross fingers they accept my return, no responses as yet. The jacket is very nice though
  4. Got my copies of Stag and Stoner Witch from a local store. Houdini is sold out in a lot of places including there. Was forced to pay an extra $10 and get it from a seller via amazon... Bad news though - Stag only came with 1 of the 2 records (first record), will be dropping it back tomorrow for a replacement. Listening to it now. Excellent pressing. Nice and quiet and sounds super clean and huge! Just wish my daughter wasn't in bed asleep as this deserves to be played a lot louder than it currently is! Stoner Witch next!
  5. Very excited for DOTU - my favourite soundgarden album! Been waiting for a reissue of this for ages!
  6. My copy of the Atomizer reissue arrived today... great pressing, no ticks or noise. Very impressed. Sound is SUPERB! Seriously a step up from any other copies on CD or tape I have heard. The remaster has really improved the bottom end. Excellent reissue, fully recommended for any fans. Now to go light some fires somewhere...
  7. This times 100. You will find it very hard to move to a belt drive from a rock solid 1200. I recommend selling one and using the cash to upgrade your other one (if you are completely over the need for two 1200s that is, big decision I know). I currently have a 1210 with an upgraded tonearm and wiring (The Wand tonearm, cardas wiring) and a Denon 301mk2 MC cartridge. The sound my 1210 makes is PHENOMENAL. Seriously awesome. The biggest point of a 1200 model is that their pitch is perfect when you use the quartz lock. You will not find a belt drive for under $2k that can match one for speed and play reliability. Go get yourself a decent MM cartridge if you do not have the option for MC, try a ortofon 2M bronze, or audio technica AT150mlx and you will be surprised what your technics will produce sound wise. I wouldn't recommend any other upgrades to the deck until after your system can show the differences (after further upgrades that is). Your event monitors should be relatively flat and will expose the improvements a better cartridge will bring, the only suspect in the chain is your mixers phono stages. There was only ever a few really good stages on club mixers when I was playing records out, Allen and Heath and the top end Pioneers. I never thought much of numarks stages, difference was night and day moving to a DJM 600.
  8. I got my shipping confirmation from Fat Possum on the 14/10. Still hasn't arrived but Im in NZ so it will take a while, probably be here next week. Think they are shipping early so most people receive the records on or near the official release date.
  9. I have the MOV release. It's excellent and surpasses the cd. See they are reissuing Filth Pig now too! Thats my favourite Ministry record by far and I paid a pretty big price for it in as new condition still in shrink. It sounds superb. Now MOV just needs to do In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up on vinyl and I will lose my shit entirely.
  10. Wondered why this has taken so long to ship, JBHifi online said they would be expecting delivery in 4-10 days, which was almost a month ago... Figured the first pressing had sold out but now it seems the first pressing hasn't even been shipped to distributors yet. Incidentally I only heard of the band/label via the pitchfork review, love me some post punk/punk sounds so gave it a listen via spotify. Excellent record. Reminds me a little of Eagulls latest, which is also great.
  11. This times a million. Love that album. They need to just reissue the whole bloody catalog. Would love a kick ass bad seeds box set. Seeing Nick Cave later in the year in Auckland. Most excited about this. Push the sky away is a hell of a grower, and is really my most favourite album of the last year or so. Dig Lazarus Dig is awesome and along with the two grinderman albums basically got me into Nick Cave in a serious way.
  12. Love Jakob. Saw them at the Auckland University Quad must be 12 years ago. Crazy to think they are releasing a new album! Between them and Bailterspace the NZ noisy music scene is pumping presently!
  13. Someone needs to reissue 10,000 HZ Legend. Absolutely adore that album.
  14. I'm getting more and more interested in these as things go along. Probably will get Rubber Soul, Sgt Pepper and Revolver. Is Help in this set though? If it is will probably get that as well. I also really like how this forum is not overly pretentious about the digital vs analogue thing either. I personally really like a lot of hi res digital transfers on vinyl (MOV etc) and although an AAA transfer is preferred, I really don't mind as much as others (on other forums predominantly) do it seems, and I think my rig is relatively resolving. I/'m getting over the eternal debate, it never ends and no one ever admits they lost. Waste of time when we could be talking about awesome new releases that sound great despite the transfer or mastering method!
  15. Im very down for this release too, massive Lanegan fan! Also Im seeing Nick cave in December in Auckland, tickets sold sooooo fast couldnt believe it!
  16. I would buy this if it had Isle of Man on it. It doesn't. Such a shame as that track is amazing. Im a pretty big ministry fan but twitch was never my favourite other than Isle of Man. Heres hoping they release In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up!!! I would be all over that!
  17. Been thinking about this whole deloused/amputechture scenario. MOV/Cedric have effectively created a nice little collectors item here through being forced to cancel their distribution of the black variant. This means there are only very limited runs of both gold and black around, making this likely worth more than we all paid for it initially. It also means the original version has its price fairly well maintained but this MOV release will likely hold a pretty good price due to its sound and now rarity, although who knows what will happen when Mars Volta finally get it together enough to release their versions of the catalogue. Whether or not MOV hold their price or not is probably going to depend on how long it takes for Mars Volta approved reissues and the quality of their sound. Either way im glad I managed to get a good clean gold copy of Deloused from MOV. Im not a collector, just a music fan who enjoys vinyl. In my opinion it sounds great and I have always wanted a copy so now Im happy. Really interested to find out the full story around this whole scenario too.
  18. Which store was this? Thinking may go with Amazon, still will be over $80 NZD to get it shipped here, jbhifi had it online for $70 but are out of stock... think $80 for this is pretty steep (even at triple vinyl). Got it down a bit on amazon to around $72 NZD shipped, thats a better price... thanks everyone!
  19. Just listened to the album through (via spotify). Its pretty good. Not sure if I like it as much as light up gold but its definitely a close one!
  20. Anyone know where to get a 20th anniversary triple vinyl for a decent price online? Most places locally have sold out! Or are insanely expensive.
  21. Saw these today at Real Groovy in Auckland and had to pass as I had preordered from Amazon, which hasn't arrived yet! Seriously you preorder with places like Amazon so you get it on or just after release date! To go into my local and spot it there (with like 6 other copies) and not have mine which is preordered a fortnight ago sucks. Ah well will have to just wait, anyone listened to it yet? My friend got a copy but he hasn't listened to it yet so im eagerly awaiting some reviews...
  22. Just got my purple marble copy of blood becomes fire and it is INSANELY GOOD! Guess I got one of the copies of the 300 that came to NZ as I got it from Real Groovy in Auckland. The pressing is great and the colour is really cool, one of the best marble records I own. If you are into heavy music or metal, stoner rock, melvins style slow burning chug, sludge metal, doom, or noisey stuff in general you owe it to yourself to hear this. It is honestly the best heavy record I have purchased in a long long time and Im not alone in my love of this, reviews of it are excellent as well... Here are a couple of tunes of blood becomes fire: Dune: Tower of Skulls: Enjoy... NZ represent!
