  1. Haven't seen ML Buch mentioned on here yet so figured I'd start a thread. Flew under the radar for a while but finally getting some buzz (sold out US/EU/UK shows) and a vinyl edition from 15 Love (Denmark). Has some established UK distro (Rough Trade, Boomkat), and some US distros are starting to put it up as well (for now, just LA's In Sheep's Clothing). Scratches that classic guitar-driven 4AD dreampop itch but also equally impressive for the use of electronic elements. Killer vocalist as well!

I've linked to the distros above, will also leave the Bandcamp page for a quick and easy streaming option: https://mlbuch.bandcamp.com/album/suntub

The person who wrote that does the indiecast podcast which is a group of 20 year olds who think  they know about indie/ emo music, but when they talk about bands it sounds like the most tame takes coming through a Gen Z filter. It's very unfortunate that that's the next generation of music fans/ criticism in a nutshell.

tbf Eli's take in the article re: Whirr is anything but tame (that they sound like the sum of their influences and nothing more, no staying power)

You need to put your pants back on, honey

    Don't, don't, don't
    Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't
    Don't, don't, don't want, don't want, don't want, don't want
Don't want no short short man

What in the world is that thing?
Do you need some tweezers to put that little thing away?
    That has got to be
The smallest rrr- I've ever seen, in my whole life
    Get the- outta here

this reads like a Panic! At the Disco verse

  4. i've been chasing a lot of 80s/90s stuff that is easier to get on tape (and cheaper haha) but there are enough decent new releases and lots of "needed that" reissues that keep me in the vinyl game somewhat. prices and cost of living issues in general have me passing on a lot of non-essentials and i'm kind of grateful for that in a weird way? dunno. helps me to focus on what i really want to listen to.

Good, cuz Dreamer is awesome….and yeah, the prices on these are getting ridiculous.  If you’re going to say it’s deluxe, make it actually deluxe.  Don’t charge deluxe and give us basic.  Makes you feel cheated.

at the end of the day, I’m glad they’re doing it and AOTWK is one of my favs, but it’s tough when you pay $40 for a sleeve and single LP with an extra sheet with artwork on one side and a write up on the other side, that’s not really “deluxe”…

both do come with bonus tracks fwiw, but totally agreed on the pricing. i grabbed the HTD exclusives with the extras because these albums mean a lot to me (and bc their store didn't charge sales tax so it was essentially the same price as the SS exclusives) but at these price points i'd be passing on tons of T&N/SS albums that i'd buy $10 cheaper...

I’m not a huge fan of prayer remembered and its placement as track 2 is kinda odd. I also wish the album was longer but overall I’m enjoying it.

yeah that's a huge flex tbh, putting an instrumental as track 2 on a short album. i find myself skipping it, the Kisses single, and the 7 minute song that just repeats the same synth arp and thinking of it as a great EP :D
