  1. oh good, so the victims should suffer the agony and lose their chance at a normal life for 15 years, but god forbid Jesse Lacey faces intense scrutiny and loses FANS for a few days. pedophiles should face criminal prosecution, and when they don't, or when we suspect they won't, we are under no obligation to let them crawl around "rehabilitating" their image. pedophiliac behavior is insidious and destructive, and those who partake in it ABSOLUTELY deserve severe repercussions. they do not deserve a pat on the back and a second chance. i absolutely love how you suggest those who, and i quote, commit a "heinous crime" should not face the harshest punishment of all. and finally, i keep seeing this asinine idea thrown around, that people criticizing Lacey are either puritanical or hypocritical. "glass house," my ass. only way this take works is if you're minimizing the horror of pedophiliac behavior by comparing it with everyday shortcomings or are insinuating this board and other spaces expressing outrage are infiltrated by pedophiles – both of which are laughable and indefensible.
  2. sorry, but you can't say something so daft and claim "devil's advocate." "devil's advocate" is reserved for a reasonable presentation of counterfactuals, and the fact you don't realize the first thing about the relationship of abuse, trauma, and mental illness disqualifies you here. as others have said, you're actually gaslighting and victim blaming, and talking out your hiney in doing so. perhaps, to be fair, it was initially an unwitting error on your part. but honestly you can be quiet about how misunderstood you are when your original point is, as you admit yourself, to undermine the credibility of a victim.
  3. 1% my ass. tons of comments here and on socials/other forums, including yours, range from grossly naive to a defense of pedophilia. your lil gem, quoted above, belongs to the former. everything you've named here – mental disorders, panic, deep trauma when confronted with dredging things up – is a textbook example of the vile outworkings of grooming, sexual abuse, and manipulation. the fact you interpret it as potential indication of slander is irresponsible and clearly indicates you should not comment so crassly on something you clearly have no experience with.
  4. yes. site downloads a blank text file after it takes your code. will be emailing Beggars to sort this.
  5. not sure about this tour, but they had super jacked-up prices on all media (compared to retail/label mailorder prices) on the last tour. also, shirts + a crewneck for $30 and $50 respectively.
  6. Domino shipping prices still suck. so do $10 cassettes, but grabbed an LP this time around. no complaints about a new Porches record, though. excited!
  7. Recently purchased a 2xLP where the first disc is pristine but second disc plays only out of the left channel. Of course thought at first that my setup had given out somehow in the time it took me to switch discs, but was easy enough to troubleshoot and determine the fault lay with the disc itself. Mostly interested to know how common this sort of thing is, whether anyone here had a similar experience with huge quality differences between discs across a newer pressing. Also interested in theories on why this might have happened. I have to imagine it's not negligence of the variety where a label doesn't opt for test pressings / doesn't listen to them attentively, as the label responsible for this pressing is a smaller operation. I would have to guess I got one of a few bad copies in the larger print run. You never know though...
  8. any hope of the limited color edition turning up in the US?
  9. i've said my piece, probably should get back to work on the revised and updated edition of 18th Brumaire my publisher's been hounding me about. really can't stand that bourgeois mouthbreather.
  10. ah, appreciate the clarification. that sucks just as much. though it must be said that ending up with the "more common variant" is 100% not what is happening in the case of this Baths record; my original point still stands. i can certainly sympathize with the desire to be making a good investment (this is always in the back of my mind, too) and can likewise understand how a flipper would be disgruntled to know they're likely to see less of a return on investment. i guess my main point is that presuming upon labels – whose motivations and goals lie somewhere between "largely unrelated" to "wholly antithetical" to those of the aforementioned – to actively support the concerned liquidator/flipper or even to heed their complaints is really absurd. this attitude changes the artwork from valued object to commodity and also implicitly (explicitly in the case of the flipper) is profiteering off of the labor and capital of the record label/artist that fronts the cost of recording/production/promotion; few labels are going to be sympathetic to this view.
  11. Mae sold out, shipped out, and then pressed more. you're complaining about a pre-release, day-of-pre-order-announcement decision. the distinction between the first 300 and the additional 500 in this case is wholly arbitrary (and moot given that there will not be a more limited pressing on offer). i watch the flippers and the extreme collectors on this board trip over themselves to sell/buy limited pressings of literally anything vinyl – i highly doubt any of you will ever start taking a pass on limited pressings for any reason ever lol. only the hubris of the collector-consumer would allow them to think that their relatively tiny numbers could influence labels to that degree, or that "selling out" (which is an arbitrary benchmark of success, given that any label could do it for any artist if they offered little enough stock) has anything to do with the goals a label has, economic or otherwise. fan-consumers make up the majority of a label like Anticon's sales. they fund the labels, they make or break the product, and they're who labels ultimately want to please. compounding the lack of (economic) power collectors actually exert is the fact that, due to complaints like this one, many collectors come across to labels as petty and materialistic in comparison with fans who want to support and play the music. it's a refrain i hear label owners on these boards echo constantly.
  12. the variant sold out in one day. obviously, they underestimated demand and pressed more to accommodate more than the fans who got lucky enough to see it/the fastidious collector and flipper types. they announced they'd be upping the pressing #s the very same day, too. if someone doesn't like it, thinks their copy is less valuable or whatever, i'm sure Anticon will gladly cancel the order.
  13. i mean, what really sucks is waiting until most everyone who'd want this already has a copy of it to press limited colorways. and what's the logic in taking pre-orders? the release is already so long ago, why not just wait until you have the discs in hand and then put them up for sale?!?
  14. wow 1 reply and this is already designated "hot"
  15. adding to that, he's not only citing samples from previous Everywhere installments on this one, but also from 'An Empty Bliss' – I'm not sure you'd notice it if it weren't for the fairly obvious track title similarities. don't believe this was the case on either of the first two Everywheres.
  16. Same! Also really wanted Cities, so this is half the battle at least! I can't really get into NTFP anymore (though it used to be big for me), seems pretty cheesy musically and lyrically compared to the other early T&N albums.
  17. Yeah, Kirby mentioned in a Facebook post today that the final three stages are "post-recollection," leading me to believe there will be more of a left turn up ahead.
  18. if you decide (in the next week or so, i guess) to sell one at cost, i'm not yet sure which variant to get or where to get it. would very likely be interested.
  19. yeah, i don't own a copy either & very much hoping for a colored re-press. fingers crosssssed.
  20. i realize this doesn't help if you're variant collecting or dead set on the mint, but X'ed Out is getting a repress this fall, per TM's merch guy.
