Way more then ska/reggae band. They were one of the few bands that bridged gaps between a lot of different genres. People who listened to hip hop listened to Sublime, people who liked punk, rock, punk rock listened to Sublime. People who liked Pop music listened to sublime. These dudes used hip hop samples, played straight up rock, played straight up punk rock, could play acoustic... they were versatile musicians. No one is saying you have to like them, there's so much hate on these forums. And rarely people begrudgingly give some kind of respect to certain bands while putting them down at the same time. All these Scremo/Emo/Pop Punk lovers on this forum love to hate an most don't even care about music, they just care about cool looking Hot Topic variants .

Coltrane & Ellington is "only" $22, which is about as close as Newbs is gonna get to giving something away these days.

Less paved, more took an already-paved road, tore it up and left it as a bumpy gravel road.

Found an incredible 90's grunge tape collection a few weeks ago for .25 a piece, that was a nice score.  I've never really "struck gold" at thrift stores, but I've found a lot of solid titles that I'm happy to add to my collection.  I appreciate a lot from the past, and have a lot of items in my collection from the 60s, 70s, 80s that I'm really glad I came across, never for more than $1 a piece.  Tons of general stuff I enjoy - YES, The Who, Simon and Garfunkel, Pete Seeger, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, etc. etc.  Some of my more favorite thrift store record finds at the moment:

    Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
    The Beatles - Introducting...
    The Beatles - Revolver
    Blondie - Parallel Lines
Bob Dylan - Slow Train Coming
Bob Dylan - John Wesley Harding
Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited
    Circle Jerks - Wonderful
    Ginuwine - Pony Single
Hall And Oates - Along The Red Ledge - Clear Red Collector's Edition
    Indigo Girls - Self Titled
Led Zeppelin - Coda w/ Promo gold stamp
    Prince - 1999
Rainbow - Long Live Rock N Roll
Stray Cats - Built For Speed
Stray Cats - Rant N' Rave
Talking Heads - Remain In Light
    Tom Waits - Blue Valentine
    Tom Waits - Closing Time
Triple XXX Girls - Self Titled
    WWF - The Wrestling Album

    Soundtracks:
    A Clockwork Orange
    2001: A Space Odyssey
    The Blues Brothers
    The Fury
    The Godfather
    The Graduate
    Honeysuckle Rose
    How The West Was Won
    Jaws
    Manhattan
    Smokey And The Bandit
    True Grit

My girlfriend and I hit around 10 thrift stores every week/two weeks, and have been doing this for years now.  I've probably added around 150 solid records to my collection from thrifting, and always enjoy "The Dig".  More crap than anything though, always.  Doesn't matter where you are, what city you're in, how often you frequent a particular place.

Always a bust, but I do feel like I'm contracting AIDS every time I walk into a Goodwill.

don't get the obsession with variants. multiple copies of 1 record = less room for other, different records.

PO'd the two MCR albums today. Came to about 67 bucks with tax and shipping. I pulled the trigger with Newbury because I've heard a lot of great stuff about their packaging/records arriving in perfect shape. Plus, the colors seem cool and TCFSW is gonna look good on opaque red.

Yeah, I had the same problem when I bought a new table. Your RCA connections could be bad, or it could be your receiver. When I had this problem, I got a new receiver (cause my old one was the problem) I got new RCA cables/speaker wire as well, and everything was fine after that. Hope I gave some insight as to what could be wrong.

So this may have been discussed or may never have been. I tried to do some research and I failed.
It's been brought to my attention that when I play my Folie a Deux FOB record it seems to not be playing in stereo. There are many parts of the song that aren't coming out of my speaker. Is this a fault of the pressing or is this true for all records?
    Again, sorry for my noobness.
A good example of this is during "What A Catch Donnie." When they are singing parts of all the older fall out boy songs.
