i seriously did the same thing! i got it, a girl asked me if i would sell it to her, i said no. she basically was crying, so i felt bad and let her buy it. luckily i got 2 other releases i wanted.

i have to work tomorrow and wont be able to make it to a store...

If Deja is eventually re-pressed, I hope to god they don't change the artwork. Never understood why labels/bands do that...it's the worst.

I-Empire is a possibility. Since they're not pressing Whisper until September, they could press I-Empire now and make loads of money. Especially on some black and orange vinyl

That is pretty much the exact rationale to justify these high prices. You have the option to buy a manufactured rarity for a premium or a norally priced non-limited version. It would be more egregious to force anyone who just wants the records to pay inflated prices because no alternative exists.

The main complaint about the pricing is that everything Newbury has pressed is already available for cheaper. If this, or Fleet Foxes, or Bon Iver, or whatever was out of print and Newbury released these variants no one would be complaining about the prices.

The jacket was probably damaged in transit to you once it left HT. That happens all the time, it's not something that only happens when HT ships people records.
