Two older-ish movies I watched recently: The Canal: We'll made and good acting, but wholly predictable. I like creepy, subtle, shadow monster stuff. A solid B- Martyrs: Yeah, I know, "where you been, dummy?" When this came out I walked into a friend's house while they had it on so I didn't watch it because I didn't want to start in the middle. Then I ended up watching the last 10 minutes, figured I had seen the (admittedly amazing) reveal and assumed the rest was torture porn. I don't deal with that so I wrote it off, figuring I got the jist of it. Ended up watching it this weekend and was happy to see it's not really torture porn at all. Pretty brutal for sure, but no Hostel or that shit. TL;DR: Great movie, A-. Interested to see how the American version fucks it up.
