Also watched New Year's Evil for the holiday, thought it was kinda fun.  Very few kills as I recall though. The main killer guy is really swinging for the fences with his role. Agreed, not too memorable, but I am a sucker for any depiction of punks or metalheads in any 80s horror flick, so those parts were pretty cool.

Nice list jonrawks, I think I'm going to go ahead and finish up the Silent Night, Deadly Night series just to be a completionist. Did a little research and there are good amount of holiday movies left, but I'm pretty sure I've watched any that have any hope of being good. Except for Sint, which looks good but I can't find it anywhere online.

Rare Exports - Put this one off for a while because I'm too lazy to read subtitles, but finally did it. Really fun, I loved the look of the monsters, and the main kid is great. Could've used more scares for sure, but well done.

Here's what I've watched over the last week.  Mostly holiday horror, since they kind of have a shelf life.  I also watched Black Christmas last night, but I had a little too much holiday cheer and kept getting distracted by other things.  Guess I'll revisit next year!

Christmas Evil - This is one of the better ones overall.  Not as memorable or fun as Silent Night, Deadly Night, but it's the better movie as a whole.
Silent Night, Deadly Night - This one is fun and trashy and has some clever holiday themed kills.  This'll be my go-to one.
Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 - As mentioned before, the first half of this is literally flashbacks of the previous film.  The back half is pretty fun and there's a great rampage at the end.  Even with the fact that they only made half a movie, I mostly enjoyed it.
Silent Night, Deadly Night 3 : Better Watch Out - Woof, this one is a real dog.  Borderline unwatchable.
Silent Night, Deadly Night 4 : Initiation - I feel like there were some re-writes to make this take place around Christmas.  There's no killer Santa and the plot involves a witch coven.  It's definitely bad, but it's kind of charming in a late night cable sort of way.
Silent Night, Deadly Night 5 : The Toy Maker - Decent idea with ok execution.  Gets real weird in the last 20 minutes (there's some obvious foreshadowing, but it's still surprising that they take it in such a strange direction).
The Children - This has some fun kills and overall decent story.  Biggest issue I had is it looked and felt really cheap and that took me out of it a lot.

The House That Jack Built - I thought this was great all around.  It held my attention for the entire 150 minute runtime and seemed to move pretty fast.  There were a couple nice little nods to a few real serial killers too.
Hell Fest - I didn't care for this, but I also feel like it was geared towards people in their late teens and not someone in their 30s.  It might not be bad as a group watch.

Eli Roth's History of Horror - People I like talking about movies I like.  This doesn't really deep dive into things, but it's fun and I learned a few things.  I'd recommend it.
Wellington Paranormal  - Not nearly as essential as What We Do In The Shadows.  It it pretty amusing and if you want more of this world, you most likely won't be disappointed.

Hope everyone had a good holiday!

    More Christmas flicks:

Gremlins - Classic, you know what happens. The creature effects are still rad.

The Children - Better than I thought it'd be. Don't watch if you're a fan of kids not being killed violently.

Christmas Evil (aka You Better Watch Out) - I remember watching this one in high school when I was first getting into bad horror movies, but couldn't remember which one it was. It's still pretty fun.

Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 - The first 40 minutes of this movie are actual footage flashbacks of the first one.  It's like a clip show. Then his brother kills people.  Expectations of diminishing returns for the series are so far correct.

    Christmas horror movies thus far:

Black Christmas - I get why so many cite this as the original slasher. Pretty enjoyable, but I wanted more Christmas-themed kills. No interest in finding the early 2000's remake.

Silent Night, Deadly Night - Way more fun, with those themed kills I wanted. Man, I feel like the killer was totally justified in going crazy. Everyone just kept kicking him in the PTSD balls. I'll bet the many sequels get real bad but maybe real fun.

Better Watch Out - This was way different than the home invasion movie I thought it was going to be. Felt a little genuinely disturbed at the premise once it was rolling. Enjoyable, with a satisfying ending.

    ON MY LIST:
    Rare Exports
    The Children
    All the Creatures Were Stirring
    Silent Night, Bloody Night

It's fine as an 80s slasher throwback.

Walked out of Hereditary as happy customer. Maybe not as happy as anticipated, but still a beautiful movie. Toni Collette was fantastic and heartbreaking, as was the rest of the cast. I love that actress the Leftovers too. I don't know how I feel about the ending, but overall the movie is gorgeous, well made, and soaked in dread, which is my favorite kind of horror movie. Very excited to see what comes next from the director.
Also, that house is everything I want in life. If I'm ever in a position to hire an architect for a build, I'm showing them that movie.

Finally saw Quiet Place too, absolutely loved it. Definite house goals. I think Hereditary will likely be my favorite of the year, but Quiet Place is going to make it difficult to choose.

I'll vouch for The Ritual too. Definitely made me question my own level of bravery.

Watched The Devil's Candy on Netflix last night, which is a pretty good Amityville/home invasion horror flick. The family is way into metal, so it has a good soundtrack with a small clip of "Blackfire" by our boys Goya, which was a welcome surprise. Worth a watch!

Haha, shit, I meant The Devil's Candy the whole time, not Dark Song. My bad. They were both on the same year-end list. Cool, good to know it's actually worth checking out.

Sup dudes! I just realized this site isn't blocked at my job. Maybe with that and having a bit more cash to spend on records I'll try to post more. I feel like I didn't listen to much over the summer, but after catching up on this thread it seems I didn't miss much. Stoked for new Acid Witch, I fucking love that band. Bought the Slasher Dave LPs last month for Halloween spooky jams. I dig the new Electric Wizard. Only show I've been to lately is Thou with King Woman. It was an early show that ran long so Thou only played about 30 mins, but they ended with a cover of Fleetwood Mac's Break the Chain. Stay stoned, wizards!

Thank Cthulhu they didn't play "Sirens"....I despise that song...it's probably the worst PJ song ever written in my jaded opinion.
