  1. on january 1, Artistic Integrity Records will be releasing our 4th annual New Year's Day covers comp. this year's installment is all Against Me! covers, and proceeds from the sale of the album will be donated to Gender Is Over (www.genderisover.com), a clothing company/charity which Laura Jane Grace herself has worked with over the past few years, and whose mission is to provide support to trans & gender nonconforming people, as well as assisting organizations with the same goal. punknews has made the official announcement of the complete track listing for the album, which can be seen here: https://www.punknews.org/article/62650/streams-26-band-against-me-tribute-album-announced-punknews-exclusive there you can also stream one of the tracks from the album, "Mediocrity Gets You Pears (The Shaker)" by Cadaver Dogs. you can pre-order the comp at the AIR bandcamp page starting right this very second, but it will be officially released 1/1/17. https://artisticintegrityrecords.bandcamp.com/album/air-036-an-impression-of-an-original-a-tribute-to-against-me if you want to follow Artistic Integrity Records to stay updated with all news regarding this and other releases, here are all of our social media accounts: www.facebook.com/artisticintegrityrecords www.twitter.com/artisticintrecs www.instagram.com/artisticintegrityrecords
  2. i'm really proud to be a part of a new podcast and youtube series called Live From The Rock Room. my friends Mike Felumlee (of Alkaline Trio/Smoking Popes fame), his wife Stephanie Wysocki, his friend from high school Ken Nowka, and i want to share what we're doing with you. we've only been at it for a couple months, but we've already gotten some amazing bands and artists in, and TONS of great press. here's what we do: we'll have a band come in to Mike and Stephanie's house in Westmont, Illinois and record 3-5 songs in the practice space that Mike built in their basement. Ken runs the video gear (and edits everything we shot later), MIke records the audio (and mixes it later), and i take still photos. when the bands are done playing, i sit down with them and we do an interview. sometimes those interviews are 15 minutes. sometimes they're an hour. we upload videos of the individual songs to the LFTRR youtube page https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcGzmfGcuPqQXpuTaLKUSXA (^^ go subscribe if you haven't already!!) and we take the audio from the full session and make one long podcast out of the whole thing that you can find on iTunes by searching Live From The Rock Room. it's been a really incredible experience to watch this thing grow from an idea Mike shared with me 6 months ago into what it is today. and it's really exciting to look ahead and see what amazing things are in store later this summer, and down the road for this project. we've had bands like the Smoking Popes, Shawn Harris from The Matches, Mikey Erg, and Lifted Bells in, and we're definitely going to keep having bigger, well-known bands. but we also take pride in the fact that we have this unique platform to expose you all to new bands and new music from all over the country that you might not otherwise have had a chance to hear, and we're absolutely going to do our best to give those smaller bands the exposure we feel they deserve. if you haven't liked the facebook page yet, the link is https://www.facebook.com/Livefromtherockroom you should also subscribe to the youtube channel, where we upload 2 new videos each week. please take 43 seconds out of your day and do both of those things for us. we're working really hard to make this something special, and hopefully that is clear. if you have any questions about anything, or suggestions for us, feel free to get in touch. thanks for reading, watching, and listening. -dan / LFTRR here are a couple examples of some of the individual videos we've done:
  3. sounds like you've got it figured out. if you're looking for a first pressing of this, i have two different ones available (one orange marble vinyl, one black vinyl with black center labels) here: https://www.facebook.com/danwallach7/media_set?set=a.10101245281203657.1073741827.37606921&type=3&pnref=story i don't check VC very often anymore, so add me/shoot me a message on facebook if you're interested in anything that's in that photo album.
  4. i guess i never understood the reason for the distinction. this is major news about a band that a lot of people on this message board care about. having these songs available (in any format) all in one place is something that's never happened before. and there are a huge number of people who never go on the Everything Else section because they're just here to get news. about music. which this is. if the mods feel differently they can move it. i think that'd be silly though.
  5. whoops, sorry about that. it's all fixed now. the final 4 was: 97 vs. Cringe Hell Yes vs. Private Eye 97 beat Hell Yes in the finals as for the music video, i honestly don't know. i could probably find that out. let me see what i can do.
  6. from their facebook post earlier today: "as many of you have noticed, we've posted some major updates to the KOLS bandcamp page. for those of you who haven't seen yet, i'll wait a few minutes while you go and check it out: www.kolsband.bandcamp.com okay, you back now? cool. so here's what's going on. we're going to try to make that page as complete of a resource as possible with the hopes that all of your years of searching for seemingly "lost" KOLS tracks can be resolved. we've already posted more than 40 albums, live sets, comps, and rarities collections, and there will be more in the coming months. if you have something you think we don't have, please hit us up with a private message here containing a dropbox link so we can download it, and as much detail as possible about what exactly you're sending, and we'll add it to the page. we're making almost everything on the page available for free download (save for a few exceptions where we really want you to support the label that put it out), but you always have the option to donate some money as well. if you do choose to donate, or you have already, thank you. honestly. we want you to know that we're going to be sending that money to a good cause. it will be going to the fine people at Apna Ghar, Inc., which is a foundation that provides holistic services and conducts advocacy across immigrant communities to end gender violence. what does that mean, exactly? well, immigrant survivors of gender violence in the United States face unique challenges, including limited access to legal, social, protective and support services. Apna Ghar provides comprehensive and holistic services to survivors as they begin their journeys of healing and empowerment. they also conduct community education and address systemic barriers that immigrant survivors face. we find them to be a very worthy cause, and that is who we are choosing to support. every dollar you can spare counts, especially when you consider the fact that just within the last 24 hours there have been more than 200 unique downloads. if you still want to download our material for free, please do so. that's why it's up there. or if you would rather support a different cause with your money instead, please donate to them on your own after you grab some tunes from us. we just want these recordings in the hands of as many people as possible, and as easily accessible moving forward as possible. we've been lucky enough over the past 20 years or so to have made friends and gained fans all over the world. if every download from the page came with even a 50 cent donation, though, imagine what a difference we could make... if you would like any more information on Apna Ghar, you can visit their website: http://www.apnaghar.org/ thank you, as always, for your continued support. it's always meant a lot. -KOLS" pretty rad. dude's been putting out music for 20 years and is still finding ways to be relevant and shape the scene. heard he's got a super pro studio out in Portland now where he's recording deserving bands for next to nothing, just so they can have the experience of being in a high quality studio when they otherwise would probably never get that chance. anyway, figured a lot of you might be into a lot of the stuff that's been posted on the bandcamp page. a lot of it is super fucking rare.
  7. it was the #1 overall seed as i had them ranked going into the tournament. there were lots of surprises throughout the tournament (including only ONE dan song making it into the Sweet 16?!) but overall i think the best two songs made it to the finals.
  8. i interviewed kyle for the fireside bowl documentary i'm working on. he was super generous with his time and was a real down to earth dude. 10/10 would eat a burrito with.
  9. haha awesome! thanks for all the suggestions and descriptions. i have this thread bookmarked so i can revisit when the trip gets closer. i'm stoked on all the possibilities everywhere i'm heading, though!
  10. i've got a small one and it's worth 10 times what i'm charged. honestly. i work really weird hours and sleep really weird hours and travel a lot, so i would constantly be worried about if my packages are safe from bad weather or shitty neighbors. but with the PO Box, i never have to worry about that. HIGHLY recommended dude.
  11. cool, that sounds awesome man. good for you guys. if you're ever looking for new material or want somebody to hop on for an interview, get in touch. [email protected] i'd be happy to help.
  12. that sounds cool. how do you pick what albums you review? what types of people have you interviewed before/do you usually like to interview?
  13. cool, thanks guys. talk to me about this? whatcha got goin on?
  14. this band is great, made up of a bunch of really great people, and the hot sauce is fucking awesome. you will all be stoked on this.

  17. the third round of voting is now officially over. the updated bracket can be seen in its entirety at www.tinyurl.com/alkalinetrio666 if you're curious to look ahead to the Sweet 16 matchups in each region. ALSO! the Sweet 16 round of voting is now officially under way. go to www.twitter.com/alkalinetrio666 to vote on each of those matchups, which will be open for the next 48 hours. biggest upsets of the third round: Red Region: the 12 seed Trouble Breathing beat the 4 seed This Is Getting Over You. Orange Region: the 17 seed This Could Be Love beat the 8 seed Cooking Wine. Black Region: no upsets. Yellow Region: the 13 seed Clavicle beat the 5 seed We've Had Enough. biggest blowouts of the second round: Red Region: the 2 seed Jaked On Green Beers received 36 votes, against only 5 votes for the 23 seed Sundials. Orange Region: the 14 seed All On Black received 33 votes, against only 8 votes for the 6 seed Broken Wing. Black Region: the 6 seed Nose Over Tail received 25 votes, against only 6 votes for the 19 seed While You're Waiting. Yellow Region: the 6 seed Fuck You Aurora received 27 votes, against only 5 votes for the 3 seed This Addiction. some additional notes... 5,068 total votes have been cast so far, an average of 44.7 votes per matchup. Neither of the two remaining 1-seeds were knocked out in the third round (Hell Yes and '97). Three of the four remaining 2-seeds advanced to the Sweet 16 (Time To Waste was eliminated from the Yellow Region). The highest seed to advance to the Sweet 16 is This Could Be Love, which is the 17 seed in the Orange Region. Each region has at least one double-digit seed in the Sweet 16 (the Orange Region has 3). The Red Region has been the most accurately seeded region so far, followed by Black, then Yellow, then Orange.
  18. i've actually heard pretty mixed reviews about the Louisville Slugger Factory, so you might want to do a little bit of research on it before you make that decision! unless you're a super baseball nerd, it might not be the most interesting thing in the world. i used to work for a company that worked very closely with LS though, and i've been to about a dozen other baseball museums across the country, so this one is a must-see for me. i've always wanted to go, just never made a dedicated trip to make it happen. if you're into baseball, though, the two best museums in the country are the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, and the Negro League Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri. and if you're SUPER ridiculous about baseball, the Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum in Greenville, South Carolina is an incredible visit, too. every year i play an 1860s style baseball game with a team representing the Shoeless Joe museum. we play against a team representing the Ty Cobb Museum (from Royston, Georgia - also a neat museum if you're in the area). each year we alternate who hosts the game. 2015 was our 7th annual game, and it was held in SC. so 2016 will be in Royston, probably some time in September or October but no date has been set yet. if anybody is interested in coming out to see that, it's always a really fun time and i can make a post when we get closer. it's free to watch. here's me hitting a triple in one of the games:
  19. i've heard this, too. luckily, i don't sleep much (which is why i'm cool packing like 18 hours worth of driving/sightseeing into most days) so i'm sure i'll be able to catch it during one of the non-peak hours over the course of the few days i'm in town. i'm probably going to try other places, as well, but it's one of those things you have to do just to be able to say you did it, ya know? like i recently went ice skating on the rink in Rockefeller Center. was it the best rink i've ever skated on? nah. was it worth $37 in any other scenario? nah. but i did it, and now i can say i did it. or like eating a potato in Idaho. going to Roswell in New Mexico. i've done all of that real 'Americana' shit. most of it is pretty dumb, but that's all part of it haha.
  20. i did my research! built in 1910. pretty awesome history in that park, including Babe Ruth. they let you run the bases when it's open (M-F, 8 am to 4:30 pm). totally doing that. and the Hoover Met, if i can make that happen, i will. since that's actually where he played. but Rickwood Field sounds like the more special of the two if time doesn't allow for both and i have to pick one.
  21. definitely have him send it back and then give him the refund. if you fight him and win the case, he will 100% leave you negative feedback. if you fight him and lose the case, he has your record and your money. get the record back, refund him the money, and then re-list the record. once you issue the refund through eBay, they'll refund the seller fee from the first auction so you're not out any money. if the bidding went as high as it did the first time, it'll go similarly high the second time because the person/people who lost out on the first auction won't want to miss out again. just be respectful and apologetic (even if you have done nothing wrong) to the dude you're dealing with now and make sure you get your record back. it'll all work out.
  22. holy shit you guys, thank you all so much for the amazing (and detailed!) responses. after i made this post last night, i mapped out my route and did some more tentative research, and came up with this basic itinerary: Friday, 10/21 leave Chicago and get to Carbondale, IL in time for the shows that night. Saturday, 10/22 fuck around in Carbondale during the day, more shows that night Sunday, 10/23 leave Carbondale in the morning drive to Memphis, TN and visit Graceland (never been here before. i'm incredibly well-prepared for how cheesy and ridiculous it's going to be) drive to Jackson, MS at night and sleep there Monday, 10/24 tour the Medgar Evers home in the morning/early afternoon drive to New Orleans and get there in the early evening Tuesday, 10/25 do New Orleans-y shit > Café du Monde for beignets and café au lait > St. Roch Cemetery #1 > St. Louis Cemetery #1 Wednesday, 10/26 more New Orleans-y shit Thursday, 10/27 leave New Orleans in the morning, drive to Mobile, AL see the USS Alabama, hang there for a short while drive to Gainesville, get there around 9 pm Friday, 10/28 Fest Saturday, 10/29 Fest Sunday, 10/30 Fest Monday, 10/31 leave Gainesville around noon, drive to Montgomery, AL walk on the steps of the Capitol Building, then drive to Selma (the reverse route of the marches) cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge (the site of the conflict of Bloody Sunday) go to the Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church (where the marches from Selma to Montgomery started) drive to Birmingham and sleep there Tuesday, 11/1 see where the Barons play because i'm an MJ nerd maybe grab lunch with Birdwell??? drive up to Sheffield and tour Muscle Shoals Sound Studio drive to Louisville that night and sleep there Wednesday, 11/2 tour the Louisville Slugger Factory leave in the late afternoon for Chicago get home that night i know it's pretty jam-packed, but that's the way i like to do road trips. some of these places i might never get back to again, so i try to do as much as possible while i'm there. the long days and amount of driving don't bother me. i'd rather be driving while i'm awake than sitting on a bed in a hotel room thinking about what else i could be seeing!
  23. one of my goals in life has always been to get to all 50 states. i'm 5 away from accomplishing that goal, and by the end of this year, i'm going to do it. the five i'm currently missing are Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Oregon, and Hawaii. since 3 of the 5 that i'm missing are all right next to each other, i wanted to plan a road trip where i hit all three. and, since i've never been to Fest in Gainesville before, i figured i'd time it up with that and do it all in one shot since i'll be relatively close going to Alabama. it also happens that the 30th anniversary celebration of The Lost Cross House (possibly the oldest/longest running punk house in America) is happening in Carbondale, IL the week before, so the timing for all of this is working out pretty neatly for me. here's my tentative route: Chicago, IL Carbondale, IL Memphis, TN Jackson, MS New Orleans, LA Gainesville, FL Muscle Shoals, AL Louisville, KY Chicago, IL i'm not 100% married to going to Jackson, Mississippi. it was just a big city in the state and along the route from Carbondale to New Orleans. i AM, however, 100% open to suggestions if there are cool places to go/cool things to see and do. i'm super into history and sports, and not as much into partying and dance clubs, to give you an idea of the types of suggestions i'd be most receptive to hearing. obviously, i'm into music, too, but i'd rather see the sights/places i can't experience anywhere else than go to a show, especially considering i'll be bookending my trip with two different fests. if you live in any of these areas and want to meet up with me or house me for a night while i'm around, that would be dope. we're looking at the last 10 days of october into the first couple days of November as far as timing goes. any and all help is greatly appreciated!
