  1. So the two backordered albums were removed from my order due to being out-of-print. Not surprising, but the other two have been processed so I'm still happy.
  2. I went back to check, and the two albums I bought when they were 'backordered' now say they're no longer available. Not all that surprising; I wasn't really expecting to get a copy of Bohren, but it doesn't hurt to try. Still nothing on the other two albums I ordered. One now is backordered, but the other is still in stock.
  3. Bah, I caved. Ordered: Junius - Days of the Fallen Sun Nadja - Dagdrom Tom Waits - Nighthawks at the Diner Bohren & Der Club of Gore - Mitleid Lady The Tom Waits and Bohren were backordered, so we'll see... but Junius and Nadja combined was like $16, so I'm still happy if that's all I get.
  4. I was looking at buying the Monolord on RidingEasy, and there it says that the C/D side are 'hand stamped.' That's for the plain black edition. Doesn't really matter I guess, just seems weird. Maybe they had to repress either the first or second LP because of a flaw or something?
  5. I stream albums to decide whether or not to buy them. If I keep streaming an album (meaning: I like it), I'll buy it if it's available and/or not expensive. But a lot of people (probably the majority) listen to music on their phone or laptop, so sound quality is unimportant and a physical copy unnecessary. Obviously everyone on this forum supports artists and buys albums, so this old "rockstar's" complaints are kind of irrelevant here. I see his point, but... I don't know what alternative is? I don't see streaming going away. And if it does, people will just go back to pirating albums online and artists won't get any money. I think vinyl might actually be the only way to really avoid streaming and piracy. Though obviously piracy will still exist even with vinyl, and in today's world, I doubt many people will buy an album on vinyl that they cannot stream beforehand. So... rather than complaining that the music industry isn't the same as it used to be, I think artists are going to have to adapt, for better or worse.
  6. Yea, track was released last week. And it's dope. Not sure if I'll pick up a copy though, just cause I'm not too keen on buying singles.
  7. I spent way too much and bought the Phi / Gravity X box set when it came out. I say that because I think they have a US distributor now. I haven't listened to anything but those albums, but they're great. My local shop has (or at least had) their latest album, so I should check it out and maybe pick it up next time I'm there.
  8. Sweet. I haven't really listened to these guys since The Galilean Satellites. I bought that on CD when it came out, and back then I didn't have any proper stereo equipment. I had a cheap all-in-one stereo and a little boombox, but I managed to get both CDs playing at the same time on a few occasions and it was awesome, if maybe a bit of a novelty. But I lent the 'music' CD to a friend years ago and forgot about it. Years later and he's moved and we lost contact. Still have the case and the 'ambient' CD. ANYWAY, ordered this. I've had my eye on snagging their split with Junius as well.
  9. How did I miss this? I knew it was coming, but I never saw/heard anything that it was actually available now. I already have Subsume, but I planned on getting a second copy just because of how often I play it.
  10. I still haven't properly gone through the list of bands you guys recommended me, mostly because I've been sitting on a Caspian album. Usually if I'm actively looking for new music, I'm never satisfied at that moment. Maybe just because I'm not really digesting the music? But I've noticed this a while ago and so I tend to just put new music aside to come back to later. So I came back to Tertia yesterday and was hooked this time around. Listening to it again now. I guess music needs a bit of time to 'settle in' for me. But yea, I'm loving this now; probably going to pick up a copy.
  11. "It's hot as fuck." "That was hard as fuck." "I'm tired as fuck." "It's cold as fuck." "He was late as fuck." etc. [as fuck] There's a kid at work that talks like that. He also uses "shit" in nearly every other sentence. He has a whiny voice and acts like he's in an MTV rap video. I want to punch him in the face, and I don't even work with him; I just see him sometimes when I'm on break.
  12. I have that brush and I have no clue what you're talking about. I think you're pressing/angling the brush too hard?
  13. Yes, I'm a metalhead at heart so that's probably exactly what I'm looking for. The only band I've really listened to on this list is Pelican, so along with the Caspian albums/EPs I've got plenty of stuff to check out. Thanks!
  14. The only three albums from this year that I've been really listening to a lot so far are: Bohren & der Club of Gore - Piano Nights Sunn 0))) / Ulver - Terrestrials Bongripper - Miserable I still haven't listened to the new Tim Hecker, EveryTimeIDie, Godflesh, Trap Them, Agalloch, Nadja, Swans, Boris, and I'm forgetting some others that I still want to check out... And I'm looking forward to the upcoming Pallbearer, Yob, Electric Wizard, Jakob, and probably some more that I'm forgetting. I'm slacking.
  15. Which album? I know I've briefly listened to a few tracks from them before but wasn't instantly hooked by anything. Didn't give them much of a chance though, so I'll try just sitting down for a full album.
  16. I really like Russian Circles, Jakob, and Cloudkicker. Who else should I check out?
  17. Sweet, I'll definitely check this out. I've been watching for a while in hopes of finding a copy of Solace, but no luck so far as I don't feel like spending $60+.
  18. My bad, I misread someone else's post here and thought they meant it was on Rise Above.
  19. I'm a tad bummed with the price. I thought EW initially said it wasn't going to be released on Rise Above?
  20. You could maybe try on amazon? Their two newer albums both come with the free MP3 download. They say 'Temporarily out of stock,' but maybe?
  21. I have one, so obviously I'm biased. But I'd say it's one of the best options available if you're looking to spend around $300 on a table. They tend to go for a bit more on eBay I believe, but for $300 you're getting a lot of bang for your buck. They're built like tanks and will likely last you a very very long time without issue. Plus there are plenty of ways to upgrade them to sound even better. Unless you're ready to start dumping some serious cash into your system, I don't think you'd be dissatisfied with an upgraded SL1200, or even one without upgrades. From wiki: Originally released as a high fidelity consumer record player, it quickly became adopted among radio and club disc jockeys, thanks to the direct drive high torque motor design, making it, initially, suitable for pushbutton cueing and starting of tracks on radio. [...] A primary design goal was for hi-fidelity, but having good build quality, control over wow and flutter, and minimized resonance led to the equipment being particularly suitable for use in nightclubs and other public-address applications.
  22. Boo, you forgot Yob, Electric Wizard, and Pallbearer. Not a doom fan? Pretty sure the EW is September 30th; don't remember the other two off-hand. Edit: And Sleep. I think?
  23. John Coltrane Quartet - Ballads Fight Amp - Hungry For Nothing
  24. I didn't even realize the gold was more expensive. Kinda silly, but I guess that's because of the slipmat and patch or whatever. Looks cool but I'll pass. I'll just go with whatever my local shop stocks since I'm sure they'll charge the same as Relapse minus the shipping.
  25. I just looked and saw they have a preorder up for Pallbearer. Looks like Relapse is going to take all my money as well.
