    Not saving the day but deep discount has the splatter for 38 and change and free shipping.

    DEEP10 discount code for 10% off too. Under $35 shipped vs the prices elsewhere is still not amazing, but wayyyyyy better.

    The COVID hobby idiots are ruining it for everyone. In the new vinyl releases group a bunch of clique morons keep saying a $30 12" with 18 minutes of music is totally fine. Then they double down and say "oh aftermarket is $50 so this is good." Meanwhile someone replied with the new Pure Noise EPs on a 12" for $18 and we're sitting there like, you wanna keep making this point??? And they do. $30 single LPs are so exhausting and sadly becoming the norm and pushing me out. I'd much rather have money for anything else than a fucking $30 LP or a $40 2xLP.

    Edit: sorry if this was unhinged or random it's just been annoying me a lot the past day.

    Nah, you're good. And correct.

    Edit: Nah, not nag 😆

    VG shouldn't be garbage if it's graded correctly, but also skirts a fine line of G(+) depending on the grader.  Once you get to that grading, visual doesn't cut it any more and it needs to be listened to which is obviously time consuming if you're selling in volume.  It's a slippery slope.  I try to be ultra conservative, don't have time to play grade, and probably pitch records that sound better than they look at times but that's life.

    Yeah, that's why I said "under vg" and not "vg and under." I agree with you.

    Edit: vg often doesn't meet my personal standards though. It's gonna vary person to person.

  4. Fair is typically slightly better than poor, but not quite "good." G+ is the same between good and vg. Often times people grade something a little low so that they don't get someone saying they over-rated, so you may get a vg that was graded g+ so as to not oversell it.

    No one really buys anything below vg+ (media) anyway unless it's incredibly rare and sought after. Under VG is straight garbage, and vg is often pretty bad.

    It's pretty intuitive if you think about it at all and speak English.

    @lexicondevilYou’re an asshole

    @ThunderPantzThank You I’ll try it

    @TheGhostOfRandySavagethank you for the explanation I think im definitely in the wrong place

    I feel the need to stick up for my dude. @lexicondevil is actually one of the kindest, coolest dudes on the board which speaks volumes as to how off base your posts have been here. For him to be that annoyed with you is a true feat in itself.

    Hello,

    So, for those members that are tired of my whining about sharing this hobby to others outside the hobby and blogs and blah, blah, blah, well so am I.  There is no way to delete stupid\embarrassing posts, so I just stopped following those posts of mine.  I apologize to anyone I annoyed or offended.

    The Hobby Blog and sharing the hobby those are things I have been obsessing over in both this hobby and my coin collecting hobby.  I’m driving myself crazy and driving my family up the wall.  I’ll be working on this with my therapist next week (that’s not a sarcastic comment or joke, it is the truth.)

    Speaking of sarcasm, I notice that happens a lot on this forum.  I’m not trying to be annoying; I just want to learn.  I thought a forum such as this would be a supportive place for questions and stuff.  As I mentioned I have been doing the same thing on the coin collecting forum as here, but they were able to supportively reel me in and help me focus on what’s important and a hobby blog and sharing the hobby with those outside the hobby are not important.

    Regarding a few things others have said:

    @Han Solo, I agree!

    @Shelby I don’t have NPD I was just getting defensive and being a jerk.

    @Sad Heart, I’m seriously trying.

    I’d like to just start over in hopes that I can find helpful support and camaraderie here.

    I just got some new records that I wanted to share.

    I did some research on picture discs and for the most part found that lots of people aren't fans of them for various reasons, I'm not because I think they sound horrible.  Before finding this out I had bought 3 albums on picture disc.

    1. Thriller - Michael Jackson
    2. Purple Rain - Prince
    3. Bad - Michael Jackson

    After finding this out I went to my local record store and turned them in for store credit.  I took a huge loss but was able to use the store credit to purchase a black vinyl copy of Michael Jackson's Bad album and after cleaning it I played it and it sounds amazing.  Now, to find to find the other two listed above on black vinyl.

    Also, for Father's Day my wife got me Elton John's Diamonds album which is a very good selection of his songs.

    We went to the local mall last night and I added more albums to my Discogs want list.

    • October - U2
    • Daydream - Mariah Carey
    • The Biggest hits - Tim McGraw
    • Thriller - Michael Jackson
    • Greatest Hits - Guns N roses

    Thank You,

    Rich

    My guy. I've been holding my tongue, practicing the whole, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all," thing.

    BUT.

    You need to stop spamming the board with every thought you have. Read the rules/guidelines, read the FAQ, lurk the site to get a general vibe for a little while and then eventually try again. Use the search feature a little bit to see if you get any answers to your questions that way.

    Nobody here really gives a shit about reading your blog or looking at your social media unless you're in a very specific niche, or very good at what you do.

    Have you recognized any of the bands/albums that you see posted about on here? You seem mostly interested in classic rock and pop, which makes up a very, VERY miniscule percentage of the posts here. I know I'm not here wanting to mentor someone who is just getting into the hobby who also shares very little of the same musical taste, and I imagine most people here share that same sentiment.

    I wish you luck on your record journey, but this isn't really a "starting point" type forum. The most active users here have mostly been involved with this forum for well over a decade at this point and have been collecting for much longer than that. We're a little jaded, and a lot sarcastic, and you came in here with a lot of questions as though you've done zero research or work to figure anything out on your own. Take a break from posting, read some threads, come back later, and don't take it too personally.

  7. There's a new Slomatics album coming out. It's super fucking expensive though with shipping. Was hoping to see it on the Black Bow US site, but no luck. Slomatics bandcamp is the cheapest place to get it and after shipping its still like $53 for a single LP.

    It'd be nice to keep the collection complete but I don't know if I'm going to.

    I dunno. They haven't once mentioned The Used. I don't think Tug could go a single post without mentioning The Used. Maybe two posts...

    Eh...Tug feels like a troll account to me too. I'm just not sure whose it is.

    You seem to have some sort of NPD going on. I suggest trying to be more self-aware, if you actually want to better yourself it's easier to recognize when you're doing it.

    Who do we have money on this being? I'm leaning toward TUG.

  10. I'll admit I'm not crazy about deluxe editions with a bunch of live/demo stuff, and doubly so if there isn't a standard version available. Tag on some b-sides, compilation tracks, other hard to come by studio stuff and I'm a happy camper though.

    I get where they're coming from not wanting to pay more for a bunch of stuff theyll maybe listen to once. That said, I do try not to bring it up a bunch since it seems to happen so frequently now that I'd be talking about it all the time.

    I’m a firm believer you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to get a decent setup.  Everything I own is either second hand or open box.  I got a fluance turntable 2 weeks ago for $75 from Facebook marketplace.  You can find deals out there

    You can definitely wait for deals on stuff and get a pretty decent setup for not a ton of money.

    I've thrifted most of my stuff too but I blew a wad of cash the other day at the thrift store on a Pioneer PL-550 that was steep for thrift prices, but still a steal for the condition it was in and came with all its parts. I absolutely adore my all vintage setup now, and have a Debut Carbon DC that is gathering dust until I decide what to do with it.

    Hello,

    What's the best way to share this hobby with the general public?  I have tried a YouTube channel and failed.  I tried a newsletter, podcast and website and all of those failed.  There are a few great YouTube channels by people who have the time and equipment to produce them, which I have neither, same with podcasts.  I'm not sure if I should try sharing with the general public since everything I have tried has failed, that's how I ended up on this message board community.  I figure if nothing else I can talk about my hobby here.

    Am i weird and crazy for trying all of those things?

    Thoughts?  Opinions?

    Please be funny if you're going to be a smart ass or mean.

    Thank You,

    Rich

    Here's the thing:

    People who care about vinyl likely don't care about YOUR vinyl, and people who DON'T care about vinyl aren't going to be swayed to love it just because you do. I did the instagram record thing for a while and realized that while I love records, I don't love posting photos or videos of them and I really couldn't give a shit about looking at most people's collections.
