Eliminator Jr. reacted to just a normal guy kevin in Record Store Day 2015 (4/18/15)
    EXT.  VINYL HERMANOS - DAY

Walt pulls into the parking lot of a record store.  He exits his car and walks inside the store.

    INT. VINYL HERMANOS - DAY

We see a clean, well stocked record store.  Walt looks around for someone.

Walt sees a 22 year old punk girl.  He shakes his head and focuses on a 56 year old man in a long white goatee and a stained t-shirt.  He shakes his head again. We can tell that Walt might not know exactly who he is looking for.

    MAN'S VOICE
    (cheery)
    May I help you?

Walt turns and sees a tall, olive-skinned man in glasses.  The Tall Man smiles.

    WALT
Hi.  I'm looking for...someone who can help me with a...Record Store Day scenario.

    TALL MAN
I'm sorry but Record Store Day was last weekend.  Would you like to buy a 45 adaptor?

The Tall Man holds up a plastic red adapter.

    WALT
    No.  I'll just...browse then.

    TALL MAN
(voice changes to a more serious tone)
Maybe you should browse over in the jazz aisle.

Walt lifts his eye brow.  He understands what the Tall Man is saying.

INT. VINYL HERMANOS - JAZZ AISLE - DAY

Walt looks at a reissue of Kind of Blue.  He sees the price

    39.99

and quickly places it back on the shelf.

    TALL MAN
You would like to do business.

    WALT
    Yes.

    TALL MAN
    You know who I am?

    Walt nods.

    WALT
    Fring.

    TALL MAN
    Kess Fring.

Walt takes a deep breath before continuing.  Kess Fring looks at him, intrigued.

    WALT
I want to flip 4 copies of the Pete and Pete Soundtrack.

Kess Fring says nothing.  He looks over Walt's shoulder at a skinny indie kid who is a little too close to their conversation.

    WALT
    So...can you help me?

Kess Fring gives Walt one last slow look over.

    KESS
    (serious tone)
I own a vinyl cleaning plant.  On the other side of town.  Meet me there tomorrow at 1pm.
    (cheery)
    Hello!  May I help you?

The Skinny Indie Kid turns around.

    SKINNY INDIE KID
Do you have any clear Sufjans?

    BLACKOUT.

Be sure to buy two copies so you have one to frame and one to listen to. There's absolutely no way to just frame the (ugly as fuck) paper bag and keep the record elsewhere. Ugh.. people.

It's dumb for people jerking off on their OGs. For everyone else it's rather cool.

I do have buyer's remorse in general about this, but that's my own problem. That's not what I'm miffed about. Honestly I feel worse knowing that an hour after I bought the record, I saw it for $70 less. I just feel a bit ripped off. Maybe because when I bought it, I sort of assumed the cost in Canada would be somewhere around $250, only quickly to learn that elsewhere in the city it was between $180-200. The store I went to is a new one, with friendly customer service, and one that I had hoped to regularly visit (and that I had been to a few times already). I feel in some ways that I was a little bit duped. Again, I'm not directly blaming them. They are a business. I am a consumer. They had what I want. In the moment, I didn't hesitate to buy it. That's my problem. But it's going to be harder for me to feel anything but ripped off going into that store again.

Yeah, it is. In Canada, I am quite used to paying marked-up prices to an extent, but this is basically more than double the price in the US. Even if you factored in all freight and taxes, its still wouldn't be near what I paid.

This is true. I've decided I'm not going to write to them. I wanted to, but I don't know that I'll get much out of it.  In the end, I'm very likely selling it to a VCer at my cost, due to my buyer's remorse. Shitty part about that is that the cost that it will be more expensive for the buyer.

Anyways, sorry about all this. I think I needed to talk myself through all of this, because I've been feeling pretty conflicted over a fucking record, and that's pretty ridiculous. No need to follow up. If you think I'm an asshole or have a spending problem, I'd like to hope that neither are true, or only a little bit true.

YOU don't get it. What's the proper grace period? A few days? A week? A year?

How do you know what someone's intent is when they buy a record? That's what I'm saying.

This board is just preachers preaching to preachers preaching about bullshit. Sad, truly.

I don't know.. If a person spent a night and 40+ dollars for this, I do understand the wish to keep the packaging complete.. Also on the plus side, keeping the brown paper bag gives you the chance to hide this mad fucked up die cut forever.

Sorry, I made that post while I still was unde the impression that it's not one per title but one per customer.. One of every item per costumer is the right way to go, I absolutely agree.

this is dumb as shit. I almost want nothing to do with this and just to get the regular reissue. The only thing stopping me from putting this up on eBay is that I'll have nothing to show for that stupid ordeal lolol.
    Honest criticisms:
The paper bags are not conducive to actually listening to a record. I'm going to have to devise some sort of way to slip everything into an outer sleeve that keeps everything together and makes everything accessible.
The records have to go in new inner sleeves. The black ones are very heavy duty and look exceptionally nice, as nice as black matte can anyhow. But they're way too fucking tight. Like, unusable tight. But these are all going in frames anyway sooo
Records straight out of the package are f i l t h y. Have not cleaned or played yet. Not the worst new vinyl I've seen but close to it.
Looks like your basic Gz tech DMM cut, ie. zero effort in mastering, not excited to find out (haven't listened yet, with my luck I guarantee you I got two A/B sides too)
Die cut looooks duuuuuuuuuuumb. This really should have been printed on the inners, and properly scaled. But that would make too much sense. I agree with the thought that the bag was a coverup hahah
The inserts were damaged, not that I really care about a couple of stickers
Anyway, this could have been so much more for the RSD first release. Such a lost opportunity. Special colored variants, autographs, lossless downloads, demos, an actual legitimate remastering… anything
    But hey, paper bag.
My store had something like 40 copies, but you weren't getting one if you got there after 3AM. There were easily a few hundred people queued up but none of us knew if they had more than one until it was confirmed before opening. Pretty much everyone at the front of the line was there for this. The way it was handled was that prior to opening, they went down the line giving people a ticket just for this - the idea being that there wouldn't be a mad rush or riot in the store. They were all behind the counter waiting for you with your ticket when you check out, so that you could just make a mad dash into the store to browse and grab the "less desirable" releases first.
I ended up buying no other releases. I had a fairly large list of "maybes" and "must haves", and turns out with a complete lack of mastering details on a lot of the titles, and no desire to actually listen to some of the others, my list was whittled down pretty rapidly. My only other "must haves" were that Elvis 10" (none of the stores in my area got any, hit a brotha up if you can help out) and also that Paul McCartney Sweet Thrash 12" which I had no chance of getting, considering it was limited to 109 copies.
I felt bad about getting nothing else and decided to buy a glassjaw tee. It looks pretty rad. To be honest I'm more excited about the tee.
The preceding events transpired in front of local news cameras in a piece that could be aptly retitled "kids lose their mind over a paper bag."
    See it and weep. #madeit

Original price tag is forty dollars?! Do people think that's a good price? And don't start with 'It's been oop for years' or 'do you now what OGs go for'. It's a single LP wrapped in paper.
Anyway, reaally happy for anyone who waited out the night and got their hands on a copy. I'm kinda glad this one wasn't available over here and surely will grab a repress when it's comes around.

If working retail taught me one thing it's this: Everyone's a customer. Customers suck. Everyone sucks. It's that simple.
