I’ve only done one listen so far and I enjoyed it. It feels different but familiar. In a way it sounded like Chvrches and Phantogram style of pop. Which I dig. Didn’t pay too too close attention to the lyrics. Not yet at least. 
 

 

Usually, I ignore lyrics. Here, I loved the crafty rhyming and the vocabulary. Music and production are tasteful and exploratory. I was disappointed by the melodies, they all seemed too familiar.  Anti-Hero was a standout, Karma was good. 
Lyric that pulled me in:

No one wanted to play with me as a little kid
So I've been scheming like a criminal ever since
To make them love me and make it seem effortless
This is the first time I've felt the need to confess

Got the Matador splat today. Really nice pressing.  Some really quiet passages, great guitar tone, good separation, relatively thick bass...hits hard.  Some new sounds.  Slightly over produced...give it to me raw.  Some fun use of stereo. Tinge of 80’s/soft rock on some tracks.

First set of songs...agree with the “more pop” sentiment. Turning point is tolerate it, no body, and happiness are very different, thankfully...more interesting to me.

Great stuff. Crafty. She can do anything, and she does just about everything on this album. I found it a bit tiring to listen to, mainly because the drums were generally following the vocals.  It’s like Tune-Yards, but way more matured.  Two memorable spots: Shameika dropped out pre-chorus (2:10) and Ladies when talking about the dress the ex left behind.   Can’t wait to listen again.

The most feels from across room distance scream, “He looks so pretty like a devil” in Cruel Summer. 

Hints of Neko Case in the verses of Lover.   Nice album.

Finally have black vinyl in hand...minor bowl warp, slight needle drift, but wax is in good shape! Plucked the random vinyl hairs along the edge, cleaned, listening now.  Punchy drums, outstanding bass tone, yummy piano/synths, possibly more mid/bass than Spotify.  Quiet press so far, good separation. 

This album makes me want to stop everything, lay in the grass, stare at some trees, and drift off.  Or, sand/waves...Oceanic, per p4k.

Not sure. It was waiting for me. I believe USPS. With international packages, I never see them on the tracker, due to non-US labels. 

Arrived in Cali today.  Heavy vinyl. Only suffered a partial inner seam split. Sounds nice.  Surface noise is good, some small pops.   A bit mid-dy for my ears.  Highs are great.
