The last I looked, Merch Direct was already sold out. No idea about everyone else who got some of the 1000, but I guarantee MerchDirect had the most of them.

I just nabbed one of the MOV/SRC reissues of The Mars Volta - Amputechture (the blue swirl variant). SRC is selling off their stock on Amazon for $32. With prime, it's a good bit cheaper than buying it from SRC or anywhere else for that matter. I actually got one copy, but it was warped. Sent it back and had a new copy a couple days later for free. Weird. On MerchDirect, the preorder and release date info are gone.

I was also surprised when the track first started. Between the electronic drums and how loud the intro vocals were, I really didn't know what to think. But as soon as the song came in, I was instantly happy. I guess the way Corgan's vocals are now is just how he sings. Gone are the days of those strained turned slight scream vocals where he was trying to hit the note but couldn't quite make it. Now he's figured out some way to kind of make it to the note, but it's less emotional and, in turn, less pleasing. Still, I think the song is great. The falsetto vocals are an amazing touch and the backing vocals are some of the best that he's done in a long time. The wall of guitars is back, even if it's different than the Siamese Dream wall. Tommy Lee holds pretty strong with the exception of some weird snare roll that's buried in the mix. The piano line that keeps popping up is great as well. I have an even better hope for this record than I did for Oceania.

The two Pearl Jam records I bought finally showed up. It took a bit to get across the country, but it was totally worth it. Backspacer has a really nice color booklet with it and the gatefold jacket is die cut which allows the printed sleeve to show through the center die cut square. Lightning Bolt is probably more impressive. The gatefold is really heavy and has a sweet matte finish. The center eye is die cut and the printed sleeve has two slight different eye graphics on either side. It also has a nice 12" x 12" (12 page?) booklet but comes with a (maybe) 11" x 22" folder sticker sheet, which I wasn't aware of. The vinyl itself comes in a black, poly-lined paper sleeve, which is nice. I'm totally happy with both of them.

If you put a picture disk in your cart and it says there isn't enough to fulfill your order, just keep hitting Update Cart. It seems like there are still some that are dropping out of carts, so you can grab one if you're quick enough.

Let me change mine up to Smashing Pumpkins - Machina: The Machines of God. Medium rare, non-HT, and could get ~$100 on eBay, and I want a copy.

It really depends for me. My copy of How to Destroy Angels - Welcome Oblivion, which I bought from Amazon new, has a bit of wobble to one of the discs. I kept it. But I received a badly warped copy of As Tall As Lions - Into the Flood from eBay and sent it back becaus the dude said it was near mint. Recently, I bought Oceansize - Frames and ordered a 7" single. The records were shipped outside of their jackets, but the 7" shifted around a bunch. The poly sleeve was pushed down and exposed the 7" so when I got it, it was pretty mangled with scratches. I sent the label some pics and they sent me a new copy. So I guess it just depends. Corner dings and bends do happen, but if the actual record is fucked up, I'll probably send it back.
