  1. Goddamn it. This is what I was afraid of. $36 is already pushing it, but $30 to ship? Hopefully they'll get some kind of US distro for it like they did the CD.
  2. Just got an email about the "imminent pre-order in the next few days." I'm just hoping this doesn't cost $50 since their CDs are $25. It will make me seriously consider whether or not I pick it up.
  3. Since I don't want to spend $50 on Zuzu's merch or goods, I'll probably get this when it's cheap from Amazon. I'd pay the $40 or $50 from their store for an autographed copy, but I don't really want to be forced to buy $50 or $100 worth of other stuff to get it.
  4. This record is so rad. If the cassettes are any indication as to what the vinyl will look like, we're in for a treat.
  5. I just saw this on Amazon after looking at the Adore track list. If anyone doesn't have this, $6 is dirt cheap. http://www.amazon.com/Teargarden-Kaleidyscope-Vol-Solstice-Bare/dp/B0041KOVUU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1405529981&sr=8-4&keywords=smashing+pumpkins+adore
  6. Well, for a company like SRC who is a licensee, they should be able to offer records for less money if they can use parts already created from the initial pressing. Whether that is the full size artwork, the mastered-for-vinyl audio files, or whatever. When they have to procure all of that from scratch, it will obviously raise the cost, and this is on top of paying the label to license the rights to actually produce the record. If we use your analogy of labels being able to make a record from scratch for less, that's because they aren't paying licensing rights, they more than likely have an in-house artist who does all of the jacket artwork and/or setup and all the other little things that have to happen in order to get audio and artwork out the door and to a manufacturing facility. Those costs are built into the label's daily working cost, so yeah, they can still offer a record for $15 or $20. I honestly can't say for sure how SRC is set up, so I don't know if they have an in-house staff that does that stuff or not, but I would assume they don't. Still, a from scratch release like Finch would be more labor intensive for SRC than it would for Finch's label to do - hence the up charge. So thinking about that, since Suicide Squeeze should still have all the shit to repress Planet of Ice, their prices should be cheaper than SRC's. I'm not saying they will be, but I hope so. And yeah, I bought the Finch release and De-loused, so I'm doing some sort of weird devil's advocate thing too. Edit: I just saw your edit... if you dig Say Hello to Sunshine, you'd probably dig that Handsome record.
  7. Finch was a special case because it had never been pressed to vinyl before. Everything had to be created from scratch. The Mars Volta stuff were EU imports from Music on Vinyl, which are always more expensive. Still, if you look at the Handsome release SRC did, it was $23.99 and came with a bonus 7". But because Minus the Bear is a more well known band, they can squeeze that $33 out of people a little easier.
  8. You'll probably be able to get it from Suicide Squeeze for less. At least I hope, because fuck $32.99.
  9. It looks like someone put it up on YouTube. If you haven't torrented it yet, check it out. http://youtu.be/zTX2rjqD394
  10. Test presses are in. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10152522365225259&substory_index=0&id=143620845258
  11. No one has mentioned anything about a physical release at this point. I guess time will tell. Edit: Cedric just tweeted that a physical release "will come later." So it's coming, just not sure when.
  12. The special variant is the symphony on 2 LPs, cut at 45 rpm. The one you can order from MerchNow is a single LP and is cut at 33 1/3 rpm. But both copies are black.
  13. This sounds pretty amazing. I'm wondering if there is any difference in sound between the 45 and 33 versions? Anyone get a single LP version?
  14. My Pledge Music copy of Casey Crescenzo's Amour & Attrition showed up today. A couple of corners were dinged, but other than that everything was cool. I think the artwork is a little lacking, but the sound is incredible. I haven't heard the single LP 33 1/3 version, but the 2LP 45 version sounds incredible. If you have a chance, pick one up if you're into classical music or film scores. My yellow copy of Finch's Say Hello To Sunshine also showed up today. The packaging on this record is really nice. If I'm comparing this SRC release to the latest MOV Mars Volta releases, I'd say SRC takes it hands down. The jacket is a nice thick, matte card stock. The lyric insert doubles as a poster. The yellow vinyl looks especially cool. I haven't seen a picture yet that does it justice. I haven't spun it yet, so I can't comment on how it sounds. But I should give it a spin in the next few days.
  15. I would really love to see Hopesfall's A-Types and Magnetic North be pressed (along with a repress of the Satellite Years). I just emailed Bullet Tooth (formerly Trustkill) and the owner seems to think there isn't demand. So I guess if anyone else wants to see those hit wax, maybe you should email him too.
  16. The Toadies are doing a new 12" single with live versions of Possum Kingdom and I Burn on a Texas shaped picture disc through Hastings. Preorder it here if you're down: http://www.gohastings.com/product/POPMUSIC/Possum-Kingdom-LiveI-Burn-Exclusive/sku/293913594.uts#.U6hBVRa3l4M $17 might be a little pricey, but it is shaped like fucking Texas.
  17. So the copy of The New Amsterdams - At the Foot of My Rival that I recently scored off of eBay was, at close inspection, totally unplayed. The jacket is still in the shrink, though opened. A completely awesome find for $15. I also nabbed one of the last yellow copies of Finch - Say Hello to Sunshine. That should be a fun listen.
  18. Yup, just got in. 9 yellow copies left. There are around 240 left of the blue.
  19. It looks like the black version is starting to show up. I won't link it since everyone seems to hate on them, but New On Vinyl is showing the black version for sale. I also think it's funny that all the online stores are using the back cover image as the front cover.
