PO: Smashing Pumpkins - CYR
dreamover replied to Justinadamk's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
With the two new songs released last night, I realized we've only heard tracks from the first disc. I wonder if side C/D is a different vibe. I'm really digging the TFE sound so far. The two songs released last night might be my favorite yet, but maybe because they're the freshest. Released songs in bold 01 “The Colour Of Love” 02 “Confessions Of A Dopamine Addict” 03 “Cyr” 04 “Dulcet In E” 05 “Wrath” 06 “Ramona” 07 “Anno Satana” 08 “Birch Grove” 09 “Wyttch” 10 “Starrcraft” 11 “Purple Blood” 12 “Save Your Tears” 13 “Telegenix” 14 “Black Forest, Black Hills” 15 “Adrennalynne” 16 “Haunted” 17 “The Hidden Sun” 18 “Schaudenfreud” 19 “Tyger, Tyger” 20 “Minerva”- 43 replies

was it mastered in house by united?
-
i had a similar situation once when pressing a record. I approved the tests, they sounded great. Fast forward to when the record went out I started getting messages from customers who said the record didn't play correctly. I played several copies and they all sounded great. I saw videos and noticed they were all on crosleys. I took the record and played it on a friend's crosley and the tonearm jumped all over the place. It looked like the grooves were not cut deep enough. The pressing plant said the issue was definitely the mastering. Which had been done in house. They took full responsibility and repressed the whole run on a new color. So when I sold them, they shipped with a sealed defective copy and a new record in a paper sleeve. It was a pain to send out another shipment to everyone who had already ordered. but i'm glad the plant took ownership and corrected the issue. Obviously, this isn't the exact same issue. but it does bare some similarity. but, if no one with a test press can replicate the issue, I wonder if the plates had a nick or some sort of buildup that would've made the issue more pronounced further into production. It seems like the kind of thing that could be missed if your stylus has just the right weight and angle to push past it. And then, if it became more pronounced as the pressing was run, it may not really be an issue with the tests or some of the first copies. It's interesting that my turntable sometimes pushes past it, and sometimes get's stuck on the groove.

I played my copy today and started right from The March. It played right through, but something was off. I realized my Pro-Ject was set to 45 RPM. Switched it to 33 and it had the locking issue. Adjusted my anti-skate and with a bit more weight on, it locked about 4 times around then played through it. I'm curious if the issue had been replicated with the test presses too?

People will probably be salty until he pays them what he owes them. So it'll probably be forever. -
In addition to the box set and two 2LP variants on the official SP site, there is also a pearl marble variant and some different merch at the label. https://www.sumerianmerch.com/collections/smashing-pumpkins

So it's basically an exclusive variant of the already-existing vinyl moon club. You can get a good idea of what the records contained by checking that out. https://vinylmoon.co/

PO Now: The National - I Am Easy To Find

this album is severely underrated. i already have the cherry tree exclusive, but i was holding out for a good price on the deluxe. -
USPS is literally holding first class, parcel, and media mail from being sorted to slow down the mail to prove the USPS is inefficient. Friends who are postal workers told me they are being directed to not sort certain types of mail. So items are sitting for days or weeks all over the country. It's a crapshoot. Some stuff gets delivered in a normal time-frame, others not. It's a fucking mess. The GOP is doing everything they can to sabotage the election and they want to privatize the postal service like everything else they've fucked up over the last few decades.

Keep in mind Tooth & Nail has to license all of their back catalog from Capitol. It's likely close to an additional $10/unit extra. -

Ships in December and is still being recorded. The preorders will probably influence the pressing numbers. -
PO: ESTER DRANG - Goldenwest 2LP

The drum playing? That's the great James McAlister. Sufjan Steven's drummer and touring drummer for The National among others. He's one of my favorite drummers. -

You don’t have to purchase a ticket. You can just buy the vinyl. I highly doubt they’ll make a fortune off this. There’s 6 members in the band, plus the crew. They don’t all live in the same area. Some have to travel. Do you know how difficult it is to produce a good-sounding live stream? I never thought I’d be on the internet in 2020 defending Underoath. But here I am. Quality live-streams are ridiculously difficult to pull off. I’m skeptical myself. But artists need to be creative to create new revenue streams right now. I’m sure they’d rather tour if they could.
