You don’t have to purchase a ticket. You can just buy the vinyl.
I highly doubt they’ll make a fortune off this. There’s 6 members in the band, plus the crew. They don’t all live in the same area. Some have to travel. Do you know how difficult it is to produce a good-sounding live stream?
I never thought I’d be on the internet in 2020 defending Underoath. But here I am. Quality live-streams are ridiculously difficult to pull off. I’m skeptical myself. But artists need to be creative to create new revenue streams right now. I’m sure they’d rather tour if they could.

dreamover got a reaction from Plarocks in Fuckin' USPS' Network Distribution Centers: the thread.
yeah. it sucks. Mail volume is actually increasing but funding and staffing is decreasing. I imagine, in most post offices and sorting facilities, express gets sorted before priority, priority before first class, media mail absolute last. So that's why Media Mail is sitting without scans for days at a time.
On top of that, volume is so high and staff is so low, that mistakes are more frequent. All it takes is a package going into the wrong bin.
I highly recommend, if you're buying something that is high value or really important to you, try to upgrade to Priority. Especially because it includes $50 of insurance.
It's also super annoying from a seller standpoint, because although I let all of my buyers know that Media Mail is significantly delayed, I've had a few buyers freak out when their package is scanned twice and then no scans for two weeks. As if I drove to Michigan, retrieved the package and kept it or something. After selling on discogs for the better part of a decade, I've received less than positive feedback for the first time, twice, in the last two months. Both buyers received their records without damage within a month with $4 media mail shipping, but they left negative feedback because it "never took that long before".

dreamover got a reaction from anchorclose in Dashboard Confessional -The places...
I traded my OG copy probably about 8 years ago because I heard there was a reissue coming. But the reissue fell through. No regrets. Doubt I'd have played it much since then anyway. Might pick up Places if the price is reasonable, but I honestly don't know how much I'll spin it. Moon Is Down is really the only Chris record I revisit these days.

dreamover got a reaction from MCDELTAT in Norma Jean - Meridional Repress
Larger labels are always trying to protect their investments. Licenses always expire at some point. Not only is it easier to license out a finite amount, when the label decides on a number (in this case, 1000) they probably want to gauge interest while limiting their risk. Now that they saw how fast it sold and what people are willing to pay, they now know they can license it out for higher fees or press it themselves.
For instance, I licensed out a particular record several years ago and the label allowed me to press 500 copies. They sold out in a matter of days. When we asked to do a repress or talk about pressing other records by this particular band, we were told something to the effect of ‘we saw how successful the presale went. We’re going to handle future vinyl releases for this band.’
sometimes there’s a bigger picture that may or may not consider the best interests of the artist, the fans, or the label. But you know, capitalism.

dreamover got a reaction from hobbesthecat in The National: Cherry Tree Membership w/ Exclusive Annual Vinyl
I didn't fully appreciate IAETF until I listened to it at home on vinyl. Now I spin it all the time. It's really grown on me.
Also, I just received Cherry Tree Vol 2.
It appears to be the full recording of this show: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-national/2019/mission-ballroom-denver-co-3b9ca494.html

Unfortunately, ~$250 for a 3 day fest is pretty normal these days. Also, you have to consider that this is a one time thing. No way to make up profit the following year like most fests do. Also, the bands are significantly more expensive to book than they were 20 years ago. In fact, I’m pretty sure a ton of them played for free back in the day. Now, many of them have to be paid enough to take the time to get together and rehearse and travel to the fest to play.

Nah. I liked Sway and the Nothing split a lot more. The new one just isn't doing it for me. It's power chord shoegaze.
