  1. I happen to like this a LOT more than their previous output. The LP is damn expensive over here, but I might end up getting it sooner or later.
  2. it would be nice to see what kind of "new records" people are getting from this now.
  3. interesting thread with an important idea! I agree, though, that we should not only rely on single opinions here. with that said, here's my addition: I owned a second press copy (yellow) of You Blew It's "Grow Up, Dude" and it sounded terrible throughout. I guess the first pressing had the same issues, but can not confirmed that as I neve owned a copy of that. Later, Topshelf issued a remastered pressing of this (maroon) and all pressing thereafter were the remasters as well. I bought a maroon copy. It sounded ace and I ended up selling my second press. So, there is no real danger for customers here since the flaw has been noticed by the label and all (?) copies in the market should be remastered/good sounding copies. But for collectors this might be of importance.
  4. i had already posted a link to imgur in the "best/worst customer service" thread. Still glad you asked again since the hi-res version is even greater looking also thanks for the hint to Izah, will give a listen after class!
  5. just found out on discogs that this variant exists: i'm quite jealous now. That looks fucking awesome and seems to be the most limited "variant" there is for this record (mispress /100). (apologies if this has been brought up here before)
  6. it's actually a GIF and the animated last panel makes it even more funny IMO, can't quite remember where I found it in the first place, tough. here's a link to imgur: http://imgur.com/afNsIXZ
  7. I'm based in Germany so the hazards of shipping might not be totally comparable to a UK/US shipment, but I ordered twice from them (about 3 years ago) and my records were always in perfect condition. Also, their staff was super nice and they gave me a free download of my choice because one of the packages got delayed. Not to mention they always threw in loads of Buttons, stickers etc. Would totally recommend from my experience, I hope things didn't change since then!
  8. and now they even made it into a Forbes article: http://www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcintyre/2015/06/09/three-startups-cashing-in-on-vinyl-resurgence/ it's funny though how all the.. controversy about it is pretty much ignored completely by the author.

  10. so, does anyone here own the purple press and can tell me anything about the pressing/sound quality and the overall quality of the release? I know only one single source here in Germany that has this album available (it is the purple pressing), but it comes out at 25€ ppd, so I would like to make the purchase worthwhile. Thanks for your help!
  11. nope, couldn't find any GER or EU mailorder/retailer that carries this. Does anyone here know a source where to get the 2nd press in the EU or Germany?
  12. haha, danke! Not every store likes that, though! Awesome, thanks! I enjoy the haptics of heavy gatefolds with heavy vinyl inside
  13. yeah, admittedly, there are some weird parts here and there, but seriously I think most of those ideas are just weird metaphors for pretty obvious things. Like the one you quoted might just be an expression for "it doesn't matter what happened ages before, it's up to you" or something like that, just in a way more entertaining way. but I guess it's not so important to discuss all those details anyway when in the end it's all just about personal perception, right?
  14. thanks for all the responses! one question remains though: is there anything like a sticker on the shrinkwrap or so to tell it apart from the earlier pressings? Let's assume I'm holding a copy of this in my hands at my local record store, how can I tell apart the new from the old pressing? thanks again!
  15. I didn't know the public opinion on here was that "negative". Personally I think it definitely takes time to grow, but if you like cool lyrics (I think they are cool and have nice wordplays) and the music of TWIABP (who doesn't?!) this is a pretty decent listen from start to finish.
  16. thanks for the quick reply! Google and the forum search didn't come up with anything for said lyric zine, could you point me to it? is it digital or physical? in case it is the latter, I guess it's in vain anyway since I'm located in Germany and shipping costs are already killing me when I buy actual records, even locally.
  17. so today I received my copy from the UK press (Black Lake Records), but unfortunately it didn't come with a lyric sheet. It's not super bad, but it would still be cool to have all the lyrics in one place for an album that relies on them so heavily. So, is it normal that these copies don't come with a lyric sheet or did something go wrong with my copy? If there is no lyric sheet whatsoever, can anyone point me to a community-made digital version like there was for La Dispute's latest record? That would be much appreciated!
  18. push.. I assume that people received their new press (180g) copies. Can anyone make a short statement about the pressing quality and sound of the whole thing? Also, can one distinguish the new pressing from older pressing just from the look of it?
  19. this. I hope it will be made available to us euro folks as well!
