  1. To address the spotty/shitty shipping issues (if it hasn't been already), Urban sends orders out from stores in an effort to cut down on shipping times. When you order an album, and it comes up on "pack & ship," you're at the mercy of whatever employee is filling orders at that store. I can't speak to how things are packaged at other stores, but mine has vinyl mailers. We also don't allow anyone who isn't in management to package orders. There are stores with employees and management who are fellow record collectors and give a shit. If you're getting things in plastic mailers, or albums just thrown in boxes, I can guarantee it was filled in a store that isn't properly instructing its staff. The easiest way to tell if you got a record from a store is to check and see if it has a small price sticker that is also a sensor. Albums from our record distributers and warehouses will never have a price sticker/sensor. If an order got sent to you in substandard packaging, and it's from a store, I would urge you to call the customer service line and complain. Every pack & ship order has an employee name attached to it, and complaints do get sent to the store that sent it out. You can also order from the customer service line and tell them you don't want anything sent from a retail location. I think the more attention gets brought to the care of records at the store level, the better.
  2. Vinyl markdowns are rare. This round is only the second or third I've encountered, and I've worked for Urban for almost 3 years. Although, vinyl is making them a shit ton of money right now. They are getting more in, and treating it more seriously than before. I'm sure markdowns will become more regular in the future.
  3. It's only available on our intranet site in store. There weren't any new exclusives listed, just upcoming releases we will carry like the new Jenny Lewis.
  4. Yes, as long as you do it before the sale is over on the 6th.As for the David Lynch album, the markdown price is in the system, so it should ring up 9.99 in store regardless if it's marked as such.
  5. Every store is running an additional 50% off sale items until the 6th.
  6. A few newer UO Exclusives I didn't see listed: Dazed & Confused OST on yellow vinyl Sharon Van Etten on white vinyl (1000 copies) UO EMPLOYEE TIPS AND ADVICe: Don't trust the online pictures for vinyl. We've never had a yellow Warpaint record, and a lot of the ones on there with black vinyl pictures are colored. As for the $10 shipping, there are ways around that. You can go into a store and have them order anything online, and they will ship it to you for free. If you don't live near an UO, many stores will do it over the phone. You can return vinyl if you buy one online or in store and don't get the exclusive, and you can return online orders in store. We have the ability to check the inventory of every store in the company. We can call another store and have them ship records (or anything else) from another store directly to you, and the shipping is free. I'll make a new thread or post on here the next time I see news about UO Exclusives or vinyl markdowns.
  7. I work for UO, for anyone who doesn't want to pay the $10 shipping, you can call (or go in) any Urban Outfitters store and order something online and get free shipping. If they have it in stock in the store, they can do a send sale. Make sure they have vinyl mailers first, or you'll get a record in a box. If they give you any trouble, hang up and call the Urban in Indianapolis. With that said, I hate the cover. Why couldn't they have used the peyote photo?
